¹³ "Their throat is an open grave, with their tongues they have used deceit, the poison of asps is under their lips;

³³ Their wine is the poison of serpents, and the cruel venom of asps.

¹⁴ yet his food in his belly shall be turned; the gall of asps is within him. ¹⁵ He swallows riches, but vomits it; God shall cast them out of his belly. ¹⁶ He shall suck the poison of asps; the viper's tongue shall slay him.

⁹ For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is wickedness; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue.

³ Jehovah shall cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that speaks proud things, ⁴ that has said, With our tongue we shall do much; our lips are our own; who is lord over us?

³ The words of his mouth are evil and deceit; he has stopped acting wisely and doing good.

² Your tongue devises evil, like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

⁴ My soul is among lions; I lie among those on fire, the sons of men whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

³ They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah.

³ For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue has muttered perverseness.

¹⁶ Their quiver is as an open grave; they are all mighty men.

³ And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies. But they are not mighty for the truth on the earth; for they go from evil to evil, and they do not know Me, says Jehovah. ⁴ Everyone beware of his neighbor, and do not trust any brother! For every brother will supplant his neighbor, and will walk with slanders. ⁵ And everyone will deceive his neighbor and will not speak the truth; they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and they weary themselves to commit iniquity.

⁷ Did you not see a vain vision, and speak a lying divination? Yet you say, Jehovah says; although I have not spoken?

³⁴ Offspring of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. ³⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings out good things; and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings out evil things.

²⁷ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which indeed appear beautiful outside, but inside they are full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. ²⁸ Even so you also appear righteous to men outwardly, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

⁴ Let it not be! But let God be true, and every man a liar; as it is written, "That You might be justified in Your sayings, and will overcome when You are judged." ⁵ Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. Behold how little a fire kindles how large a forest! ⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. So the tongue is set among our members, spotting all the body and inflaming the course of nature, and being inflamed by hell. ⁷ For every kind of animals, and of birds, and of reptiles, and of sea-animals, is tamed, and has been tamed by mankind. ⁸ But no one can tame the tongue, it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
