¹ To the Chief Musician on Mahalath. A contemplation. A Psalm of David. The fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They acted corruptly, and have worked out abominable wickedness; there is not one doing good.

⁵ And Jehovah saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. ⁶ And Jehovah repented that He had made man on the earth, and He was angry to His heart.

¹¹ The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. ¹² And God looked upon the earth. And, behold, it was corrupted! For all flesh had corrupted its way upon the earth. ¹³ And God said to Noah, The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them. And, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

²⁴ Do not defile yourselves in any of these things. For in all these the nations are defiled, which I cast out before you. ²⁵ And the land is defiled. Therefore I visit its wickedness on it, and the land itself vomits out those who live in it. ²⁶ You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations, neither the native, nor any stranger that lives among you. ²⁷ For the men of the land who were before you have done all these abominations, and the land is defiled. ²⁸ You shall not do these so that the land may not spew you out also when you defile it, as it spewed out the nations that were before you. ²⁹ For whoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls who commit them shall be cut off from among their people. ³⁰ And you shall keep My ordinance, so as not to do any of these abominable customs which were committed before you, and that you do not defile yourselves in them. I am Jehovah your God.

³¹ You shall not do so to Jehovah your God. For every abomination to Jehovah, which He hates, they have done to their gods; even their sons and their daughters they have burned in the fire to their gods.

²⁶ And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now the kingdom shall return to the house of David!

²⁴ And also the sodomite was in the land. They did according to all the hateful things of the nations which Jehovah cast out before the sons of Israel.

⁴ Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? No one!

¹⁶ How much more hateful and filthy is man, who drinks iniquity like water?

⁴ Through the pride of his face the wicked will not seek Him; There is no God in all his schemes.

⁶ He has said in his heart, I shall not be moved; from generation to generation, never in evil!

¹¹ He has said in his heart, God has forgotten; He hides His face; He will not see forever!

¹³ Why do the wicked condemn God? He has said in his heart, You will not judge.

They acted corruptly; they have done abominable works, there is none who does good. ² Jehovah looked down from Heaven on the sons of men, to see if there were any who understood and sought God. ³ All have gone aside, together they are filthy; there is none who does good, no, not one. ⁴ Have all the workers of iniquity not known, eating up My people as they eat bread? They have not called on Jehovah. ⁵ There they were in great fear; for God is in the generation of the righteous. ⁶ You have shamed the counsel of the poor, because Jehovah is his refuge. ⁷ Who will bring the salvation of Israel out of Zion? When Jehovah brings back the captivity of His people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

¹ A Song. A Psalm for the sons of Korah. To the Chief Musician. On Mahalath, to make humble. A Poem of Heman the Ezrahite. O Jehovah, the God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before You.

⁶ A beastly man does not know; nor does a fool understand this.

⁴⁷ Yet you have not walked according to their ways, nor done according to their hateful deeds; but, as if it were a very little thing, you were corrupted more than they were in all your ways.

⁵¹ Nor has Samaria sinned as much as half your sins; but you have multiplied your abominations more than they, and have justified your sisters in all your abominations which you have done.

²² But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be liable to the judgment. And whoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be liable to the sanhedrin; but whoever shall say, Fool! shall be liable to be thrown into the fire of hell.

²⁰ But God said to him, Fool! This night your soul shall be required of you, then whose shall be those things which you have prepared?

²¹ Because, knowing God, they did not glorify Him as God, neither were thankful. But they became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

²⁸ And even as they did not think fit to have God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do the things not right,

¹⁰ as it is written: "There is none righteous, no not one; ¹¹ there is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God." ¹² "They are all gone out of the way, they have together become unprofitable, there is none that does good, no, not one." ¹³ "Their throat is an open grave, with their tongues they have used deceit, the poison of asps is under their lips; ¹⁴ whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness;" ¹⁵ "their feet are swift to shed blood; ¹⁶ destruction and misery are in their way, ¹⁷ and the way of peace they did not know." ¹⁸ "There is no fear of God before their eyes." ¹⁹ But we know that whatever things the Law says, it says to those who are under the Law; so that every mouth may be stopped and all the world may be under judgment before God, ²⁰ because by the works of the Law none of all flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law is the knowledge of sin. ²¹ But now a righteousness of God has been revealed apart from Law, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets; ²² even the righteousness of God through the faith of Jesus Christ, toward all and upon all those who believe. For there is no difference, ²³ for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, ²⁴ being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus; ²⁵ whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness through the passing by of the sins that had taken place before, in the forbearance of God; ²⁶ for the display of His righteousness at this time, for Him to be just and, forgiving the one being of the faith of Jesus. ²⁷ Then where is the boasting? It is excluded. Through what law? Of works? No, but through the law of faith. ²⁸ Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the works of the Law. ²⁹ Or is He the God of the Jews only, and not also of the nations? Yes, of the nations also, ³⁰ since it is one God who will justify circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. ³¹ Do we then make the Law void through faith? Let it not be! But we establish the Law.

¹² For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.

³ For the time of life which is past is enough for us to have worked out the will of the nations, having gone on in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, parties, carousings, and abominable idolatries.
