⁶ For by wise counsel you shall make your war; and in a multitude of wise men there is safety.

¹⁴ Where there is no wisdom, the people fall; but in the multitude of wise men there is safety.

²² Without wisdom, purposes are defeated, but by many wise men they are established.

¹⁸ Purposes are established by counsel; and with good advice make war.

³¹ Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not first sit down and consult whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?

²⁵ And everyone who strives for the mastery is temperate in all things. Then those truly that they may receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible. ²⁶ So then I run, not as if I were uncertain. And so I fight, not as one who beats the air. ²⁷ But I buffet my body, and lead it captive, lest proclaiming to others I myself might be rejected.

¹⁰ Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. ¹¹ Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. ¹² For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world's rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places. ¹³ Therefore take to yourselves the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. ¹⁴ Therefore stand, having your loins girded about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness ¹⁵ and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. ¹⁶ Above all, take the shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. ¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, ¹⁸ praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching to this very thing with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. ¹⁹ And pray for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, ²⁰ for which I am an ambassador in bonds; so that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

¹¹ But you, O man of God, flee these things and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness. ¹² Fight the good fight of faith. Lay hold on eternal life, to which you are also called and have professed a good profession before many witnesses.
