² And behold, a great earthquake occurred! For coming down from Heaven, and coming up, an angel of the Lord rolled back the stone from the door and was sitting on it.

⁵¹ And, behold! The veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. And the earth quaked, and the rocks were sheared, ⁵² and the tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep arose, ⁵³ and coming out of the tomb after His resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many.

³ And they said among themselves, Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us? ⁴ And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back, for it was very great. ⁵ And entering into the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right, clothed in a long white garment. And they were frightened.

² But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. ³ And going in, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. ⁴ And as they were much perplexed about it, it happened that, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. ⁵ And as they were afraid, and bowed their faces down to the earth, they said to them, Why do you seek the living among the dead?

¹ The first of the sabbaths Mary Magdalene came early to the tomb, darkness still being on it, and she saw the stone taken away from the tomb.

¹² And she saw two angels in white sitting there, the one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. ¹³ And they said to her, Woman, why do you weep? She said to them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.

²⁶ And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened and all the bonds were loosened.

¹⁶ And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among nations, believed on in the world, and received up into glory.

¹² To them it was revealed that not to themselves, but to us, they ministered the things which are now reported to you by those who have preached the gospel to you in the Holy Spirit sent from Heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

¹⁹ And the temple of God was opened in Heaven, and there was seen in His temple the ark of His covenant, and there occurred lightnings and voices, and thunders and an earthquake, and a great hail.
