¹⁰ And then many will be offended, and will betray one another, and will hate one another.

⁵ Put no trust in a friend; put no hope in a guide; keep the door of your mouth from her who lies in your bosom. ⁶ For the son dishonors the father; the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. A man's enemies are the men of his own household.

²¹ And brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child. And the children shall rise up against their parents and cause them to be put to death.

³⁵ For I have come to set a man against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. ³⁶ And a man's foes shall be those of his own household.

⁶ And blessed is he, whoever shall not be offended in Me.

²¹ But he has no root in himself, and is temporary. For when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the Word, he immediately stumbles.

⁵⁷ And they were offended in Him. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country and in his own house.

²¹ And as they ate, He said, Truly I say to you that one of you will betray Me. ²² And grieving sorrowfully, they began to say, each one of them, Lord, not I am the one? ²³ And He answered and said, He who dips his hand with Me in the dish, the same shall betray Me. ²⁴ The Son of Man goes, as it has been written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.

³¹ Then Jesus said to them, All of you will be offended because of Me this night. For it is written, "I will smite the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad." ³² But after I have risen again, I will go before you into Galilee. ³³ Peter answered and said to Him, though all shall be offended because of You, I will never be offended. ³⁴ Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you that this night, before the cock crows, you shall deny Me three times.

¹² And a brother will betray a brother to death, and a father his son. And children will rise up against their parents and will cause them to be put to death.

⁶⁰ Then when they had heard, many of His disciples said, This is a hard saying, who can hear it? ⁶¹ But knowing in Himself that His disciples murmured about it, Jesus said to them, Does this offend you?

⁶⁶ From this time many of His disciples went back into the things behind, and walked no more with Him. ⁶⁷ Then Jesus said to the Twelve, Do you also wish to go away?

¹⁵ This you know, that all those in Asia have turned away from me, of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.

¹⁰ For Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and he has departed to Thessalonica. Crescens went to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.
