²⁸ Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

¹⁷ And to Adam He said, Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat of it! The ground is cursed for your sake. In pain shall you eat of it all the days of your life. ¹⁸ It shall also bring forth thorns and thistles to you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. ¹⁹ In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are, and to dust you shall return.

⁷ but man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

¹ Man born of woman is of few days, and full of trouble.

⁴ For by day and by night Your hand was heavy on me; my sap is turned into the droughts of summer. Selah.

⁴ For my iniquities have gone over my head; like a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.

⁷ For we are burned up by Your anger, and by Your wrath we are troubled. ⁸ You have set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your face. ⁹ For all our days pass away in Your wrath; we finish our years like a murmur. ¹⁰ The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by strength they are fourscore years, yet their pride is labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

¹³ that You may give him rest from the days of trouble, until the pit is dug for the wicked.

⁷ Return to your rest, O my soul; for Jehovah has dealt bountifully with you.

⁸ All things are full of labor; man cannot utter it; the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.

¹⁴ I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.

²² For what has man from all his labor, and from the troubling of his heart, in which he has labored under the sun? ²³ For all his days are sorrows, and his labor sadness; yea, his heart does not take rest in the night. This is also vanity.

⁸ There is one alone, and there is not a second; yea, he has neither son nor brother; yet there is no end to all his labor; and his eyes are not satisfied with riches; and he says, For whom do I labor and take good from my soul? This is also vanity. Yes, it is an evil business.

⁴ Woe, sinful nation, a people heavy with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, sons who corrupt! They have forsaken Jehovah; they have provoked the Holy One of Israel to anger; they have gone away backward.

¹⁰ And in that day there shall be the Root of Jesse standing for a banner of the people; to Him the nations shall seek; and His resting place shall be glorious.

¹² To whom He said, This is the rest; cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing. Yet they were not willing to hear.

²² Turn to Me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other. ²³ I have sworn by Myself, the word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, that to Me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. ²⁴ He says, Only in Jehovah do I have righteousness and strength; even to Him he comes. And they are ashamed, all who are angry with Him. ²⁵ In Jehovah shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

¹⁷ So says Jehovah, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, I am Jehovah your God who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way that you should go. ¹⁸ Oh that you had paid attention to My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

² For He comes up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground; He has no form nor majesty that we should see Him, nor an appearance that we should desire Him. ³ He is despised and rejected of men; a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as it were a hiding of faces from Him, He being despised, and we esteemed Him not.

¹ Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat. Yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. ² Why do you weigh silver for what is not bread? and your labor for what never satisfies? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. ³ Bow down your ear, and come to Me; hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

³ to appoint to those who mourn in Zion, to give to them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the mantle of praise for the spirit of heaviness; so that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah, that He might be glorified.

² For all those My hand has made, and all those exist, says Jehovah. But to this one I will look, to the afflicted and contrite spirit, and the one who trembles at My Word.

¹⁶ So says Jehovah, Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths where the good way is, and walk in it, and you shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk in it.

⁶ With what shall I come before Jehovah, to bow myself before God the Most High? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? ⁷ Will Jehovah be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my first-born for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? ⁸ He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does Jehovah require of you but to do justice and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God?

²⁹ Take My yoke on you and learn of Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest to your souls.

⁴ For they bind heavy and hard-to-carry burdens and lay them on men's shoulders. But they will not move them with one of their fingers.

³⁷ All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will in no way cast out.

³⁷ And in the last day of the great feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.

¹⁰ Now therefore why do you tempt God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples, a yoke which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

²² For I delight in the Law of God according to the inward man; ²³ but I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin being in my members. ²⁴ O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? ²⁵ I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then with the mind I myself serve the Law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

¹ Stand fast therefore in the liberty with which Christ has made us free, and do not again be held with the yoke of bondage.

⁷ and to give rest with us to you who are troubled, at the revealing of the Lord Jesus from Heaven with the angels of His power,

¹ Therefore, a promise being left to enter into His rest, let us fear lest any of you should seem to come short of it.

¹⁷ And the Spirit and the bride say, Come! And let the one hearing say, Come! And let the one who is thirsty come. And he willing, let him take of the Water of Life freely.
