¹⁸ And Zacharias said to the angel, By what shall I know this? For I am old, and my wife is advanced in her days.

⁸ And he said, Lord God, by what shall I know that I shall inherit it?

¹⁷ And Abraham fell upon his face and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born to him that is a hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear?

¹² Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After my being old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?

²¹ And Moses said, The people among whom I am are six hundred thousand footmen. And You have said, I will give them flesh so that they may eat a whole month! ²² Shall the flocks and the herds be killed for them, to be enough for them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to be enough for them? ²³ And Jehovah said to Moses, Has Jehovah's hand become short? You shall see now whether or not My word shall come to pass to you.

³⁶ And Gideon said to God, If You will save Israel by my hand, as You have said, ³⁷ behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the grain-floor. And if the dew is on the fleece only, and dry upon all the ground, then I shall know that You will save Israel by my hand, as You have said. ³⁸ And it was so. For he rose up early in the morning and gathered the fleece together, and wrung the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water. ³⁹ And Gideon said to God, Let not Your anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once. I pray You, let me test but this once with the fleece. Let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew. ⁴⁰ And God did so that night. For it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.
