² and Jehovah said to Moses, Speak to Aaron your brother, that he does not come at all times into the sanctuary within the veil before the mercy-seat, which is on the Ark, so that he will not die. For I will appear in the cloud on the mercy-seat.

¹⁷ And you shall make a mercy-seat of pure gold. Two and a half cubits shall be the length of it, and a cubit and a half the breadth of it. ¹⁸ And you shall make two cherubs of gold; of beaten work you shall make them, in the two ends of the mercy-seat. ¹⁹ And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end. From the mercy-seat you shall make the cherubs, on the two ends of it. ²⁰ And the cherubs shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy-seat with their wings, and their faces each toward the other; toward the mercy-seat shall the cherubs' faces be. ²¹ And you shall put the mercy-seat above, upon the ark. And in the ark you shall put the testimony that I shall give you. ²² And I will meet with you there, and I will talk with you from above the mercy-seat, from between the two cherubs on the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give you in commandment to the sons of Israel.

³³ And you shall hang up the veil under the clasps, that you may bring the ark of the testimony in there within the veil. And the veil shall divide for you between the holy place and the Holy of Holies. ³⁴ And you shall put the mercy-seat upon the ark of the testimony in the Holy of Holies.

¹⁰ And Aaron shall make an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year with the blood of the sin offerings of atonement. He shall make atonement on it once in the year throughout your generations. It is most holy to Jehovah.

²⁰ And he took and placed the Testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy-seat on the ark from above. ²¹ And he brought the ark into the tabernacle and set up the veil of the covering, and covered the Ark of Testimony, even as Jehovah commanded Moses.

³⁴ And the cloud covered the tabernacle of the congregation, and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle. ³⁵ And Moses was not able to enter into the tabernacle of the congregation because the cloud stayed on it, and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle.

³⁵ And you shall remain at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation day and night seven days, and keep the charge of Jehovah, so that you do not die. For so I am commanded.

¹³ And he shall put the incense on the fire before Jehovah. And the cloud of the incense shall cover the mercy-seat that is on the Testimony. And he shall not die.

²⁷ Also, on the tenth of this seventh month, this is a day of atonement. It shall be a holy convocation to you. And you shall afflict your souls and offer a fire offering to Jehovah.

¹⁹ But do this to them, and they shall live and not die when they approach the Holy of Holies. Aaron and his sons shall go in and appoint each one of them to his service and to his burden.

¹⁰ And Jehovah said to Moses, Bring Aaron's rod again before the testimony, to be kept as a token against the rebels. And you shall completely take away their murmurings from Me so that they do not die.

⁶ And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of Jehovah into its place, into the holy place of the house, into the Holy of Holies, under the wings of the cherubs.

¹⁰ And it happened when the priests had come out of the Holy of Holies, the cloud filled the house of Jehovah. ¹¹ And the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of Jehovah had filled the house of Jehovah. ¹² And Solomon said, Jehovah said that He would dwell in the thick darkness.

⁵¹ And, behold! The veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. And the earth quaked, and the rocks were sheared,

¹⁴ Since then we have a great High Priest who has passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. ¹⁵ For we do not have a high priest who cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted just as we are, yet without sin. ¹⁶ Therefore let us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

³ And after the second veil was a tabernacle which is called the Holy of Holies,

⁷ But once in the year into the second the high priest goes alone, not without blood, which he offered for himself and for the errors of the people) ⁸ the Holy Spirit signifying by this that the way into the Holiest of all was not yet made manifest while the first tabernacle was still standing.

²⁵ Nor yet that He should offer Himself often, even as the high priest enters into the Holy of Holies every year with the blood of others

¹⁹ Therefore, brothers, having boldness to enter into the Holy of Holies by the blood of Jesus, ²⁰ by a new and living way which He has consecrated for us through the veil, that is to say, His flesh;
