²² You worship what you do not know, we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.

¹⁰ The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a Lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come. And the obedience of the peoples to him.

²⁷ And the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Cause one of the priests whom you removed from there to go there. And they shall go and live there, and he shall teach them the way of the God of the land. ²⁸ And one of the priests whom they had removed from Samaria came and lived in Bethel. And he taught them how they should fear Jehovah. ²⁹ And every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities in which they lived. ³⁰ And the men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima, ³¹ and the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burned their sons with fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech the gods of Sepharvaim. ³² So they feared Jehovah, and made to themselves, of the lowest of them, priests of the high places, who sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places. ³³ They feared Jehovah and served their own gods, according to the custom of the nations whom they removed from there. ³⁴ Until this day they do according to their former ways. They do not fear Jehovah, neither do they do according to their statutes, or according to their ordinances, or according to the Law and commandment which Jehovah commanded the sons of Jacob, whom He named Israel. ³⁵ And Jehovah had made a covenant and charged them, saying, You shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them, ³⁶ but Jehovah, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and a stretched-out arm, you shall fear Him, and you shall worship Him, and you shall do sacrifice to Him. ³⁷ And the statutes, and the ordinances, and the Law, and the commandment, which He wrote for you, you shall be careful to do forever. And you shall not fear other gods. ³⁸ And the covenant that I have made with you, you shall not forget, and you shall not fear other gods. ³⁹ And you shall fear Jehovah your God. And He shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies. ⁴⁰ But they did not listen, but they followed after their former way. ⁴¹ And it happened, these nations feared Jehovah, and they served their graven images, both their sons and their sons' sons, as their fathers did, they do until this day.

¹⁰ But as for us, Jehovah is our God, and we have not forsaken Him. And the priests who minister to Jehovah are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites in the work. ¹¹ And they burn to the Lord every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense, and the showbread on the pure table, and the lampstand of gold with its lamps, to burn every evening. For we keep the charge of Jehovah our God. But you have forsaken Him. ¹² And behold, God Himself is with us as Commander, and His priests with sounding trumpets to cry alarm against you. O sons of Israel, do not fight against Jehovah, the God of your fathers, for you shall not prosper!

² then they came to Zerubbabel and to the chief of the fathers, and said to them, Let us build with you, for we seek your God, even as you. And we have sacrificed to him since the days of Esar-haddon king of Assyria, who brought us up here.

²⁰ Our God is the God of salvation; and to Jehovah are the issues of death.

¹⁹ He shows His Word to Jacob, His Precepts and His judgments to Israel.

³ And many people shall go and say, Come, and let us go to the mountain of Jehovah, to the house of the God of Jacob. And He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths. For out of Zion shall go out the Law, and the Word of Jehovah from Jerusalem.

² Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; He also has become my salvation.

⁶ Cry out and shout, O dweller of Zion; for great is the Holy One of Israel in your midst.

¹³ I bring near My righteousness. It shall not be far off, and My salvation shall not wait; and I will place salvation in Zion, My glory for Israel.

¹⁶ In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear not! Do not let not your hands droop, Zion. ¹⁷ Jehovah your God is mighty in your midst; He will save, He will rejoice over you with joy; He is silent in His love; He rejoices over you with joyful shout.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem; behold, your King comes to you. He is righteous and victorious, meek and riding on an ass, even on a colt, the son of an ass.

⁴⁷ and that repentance and remission of sins should be proclaimed in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

²³ For as I passed by and saw the things you worship, I also found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Not knowing then whom you worship, I make Him known to you.

³⁰ Truly, then, God overlooking the times of ignorance, now He strictly commands all men everywhere to repent,

¹ Then what is the superiority of the Jew? Or what is the profit of circumcision? ² Much, by every way! Chiefly, indeed, because they were entrusted with the oracles of God.

⁴ who are Israelites; to whom belong the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the Law, and the service of God, and the promises; ⁵ whose are the fathers, and of whom is the Christ according to flesh, He being God over all, blessed forever. Amen.

¹⁴ For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Judah, of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.
