¹ Therefore, a promise being left to enter into His rest, let us fear lest any of you should seem to come short of it.

³⁴ According to the number of the days in which you searched the land, forty days, each day for a year you shall bear your iniquities, forty years; and you shall know My alienation.

³⁰ And Jehovah, the God of Israel says, I said indeed, Your house and the house of your father should walk before Me forever. But now Jehovah says, Be it far from Me! For those who honor Me I will honor, and those that think little of Me shall be lightly regarded.

¹⁶ A wise one fears and departs from evil, but the fool rages and is sure.

¹⁴ Blessed is the man dreading God, but he who hardens his heart shall fall into mischief.

⁴⁰ And I will cut an everlasting covenant with them that I will not turn away from them, to do them good. But I will put My fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from Me.

²¹ Not everyone who says to Me, Lord! Lord! shall enter the kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in Heaven. ²² Many will say to Me in that day, Lord! Lord! Did we not prophesy in Your name, and through Your name throw out demons, and through Your name do many wonderful works? ²³ And then I will say to them I never knew you! Depart from Me, those working lawlessness!

²⁶ And everyone who hears these sayings of Mine and does not do them shall be compared to a foolish man who built his house on the sand. ²⁷ And the rain came down, and the floods came, and the wind blew and beat on that house. And it fell, and great was its fall.

⁴⁸ But if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My Lord delays His coming,

⁴⁵ But if that servant says in his heart, My lord delays his coming, and shall begin to beat the male servants and women servants, and to eat and drink and to be drunk, ⁴⁶ the lord of that servant will come in a day when he does not expect, and at an hour when he does not know. And he will cut him apart, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

²⁵ And once the Master of the house has risen up and has shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us, and He shall answer and say to you, I do not know you; from where are you; ²⁶ then you shall begin to say, We ate and drank in Your presence, and You have taught in our streets. ²⁷ But He shall say, I tell you, I do not know you; from where you are. Depart from Me, all workers of unrighteousness! ²⁸ There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you will see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and yourselves being thrust out. ²⁹ And they will come from the east and the west, and from the north and the south, and will recline in the kingdom of God. ³⁰ And behold, there are last ones which will be first, and there are first ones which will be last.

³ For what? If some did not believe, will not their unbelief nullify the faith of God? ⁴ Let it not be! But let God be true, and every man a liar; as it is written, "That You might be justified in Your sayings, and will overcome when You are judged."

²³ for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God,

²⁰ Well, because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be high-minded, but fear.

²⁶ So then I run, not as if I were uncertain. And so I fight, not as one who beats the air. ²⁷ But I buffet my body, and lead it captive, lest proclaiming to others I myself might be rejected.

¹² So let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.

¹³ If we do not believe Him, yet He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.

¹ Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. ² For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and if every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward, ³ how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by those who heard Him;

¹¹ So I swore in My wrath, They shall not enter into My rest."

³ For we who have believed do enter into the rest, as He said, "I have sworn in My wrath that they should not enter into My rest;" although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. ⁴ For He spoke in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: "And God rested the seventh day from all His works." ⁵ And in this place again, "They shall not enter into My rest."

⁹ So then there remains a rest to the people of God.

¹¹ Therefore let us labor to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of unbelief.

¹⁵ looking diligently lest any fail of the grace of God, or lest any root of bitterness springing up disturb you, and by it many are defiled,

²⁵ See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape, those who refused him that spoke on earth, much more we shall not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from Heaven,

⁷ Remember those leading you, who have spoken to you the Word of God, whose faith follow, considering the end of their conduct:
