⁴ neither baseness, foolish talking, jesting, which are not becoming, but rather giving of thanks.

¹ Rejoice in Jehovah, O righteous ones; praise is becoming for the upright.

¹ A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day. It is good to give thanks to Jehovah, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;

²¹ Let them praise Jehovah for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the sons of man! ²² And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing!

²³ A wise man conceals knowledge, but the heart of fools cries out foolishness.

² The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, but the mouth of fools pours out foolishness.

¹³ The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness; and the end of his talk is wicked madness.

¹⁰ And when he had learned that the document was signed, Daniel went to his house. And his windows were open in his roof room toward Jerusalem; and he kneeled on his knees three times a day and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did before.

³⁴ Offspring of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. ³⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings out good things; and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings out evil things. ³⁶ But I say to you that every idle word, whatever men may speak, they shall give account of it in the day of judgment. ³⁷ For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned.

²² thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

²³ (however, other boats from Tiberias came near the place where they ate the loaves, the Lord having given thanks),

²⁸ And even as they did not think fit to have God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do the things not right,

¹¹ with you also helping together by prayer for us, so that the gracious gift by many persons be the cause of thanksgiving through many for us.

¹⁵ Thanks be to God for His unspeakable free gift.

¹⁶ do not cease giving thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers,

²⁹ Let not any filthy word go out of your mouth, but if any is good to building up in respect of need, that it may give grace to the ones hearing.

¹⁹ speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; ²⁰ always giving thanks for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

⁶ Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

⁸ But now also put off all these things: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, shameful speech out of your mouth.

¹⁵ And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which you also are called in one body, and be thankful. ¹⁶ Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. ¹⁷ And everything, whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him.

⁹ For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy with which we rejoice for your sakes before our God,

¹⁸ In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

⁸ Therefore, having much boldness in Christ to enjoin you to do the fitting thing;

¹⁵ By Him, then, let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips, confessing His name.

⁴ Behold also the ships being so great, and driven by fierce winds, yet they are turned about with a very small rudder, where the impulse of him steering desires. ⁵ Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. Behold how little a fire kindles how large a forest! ⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. So the tongue is set among our members, spotting all the body and inflaming the course of nature, and being inflamed by hell. ⁷ For every kind of animals, and of birds, and of reptiles, and of sea-animals, is tamed, and has been tamed by mankind. ⁸ But no one can tame the tongue, it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

⁷ And He delivered righteous Lot, oppressed with the lustful behavior of the lawless.

¹⁸ For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they lure through the lusts of the flesh, by unbridled lust, the ones who were escaping from those who live in error;

¹⁰ But what things they do not know, they speak evil of. And what things they understand naturally, like the animals without reason, they are corrupted by these.

¹³ wild waves of the sea foaming up their shames; wandering stars for whom blackness of darkness has been kept forever.
