¹ Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, while the evil days do not come, nor the years draw near, when you shall say, I have no pleasure in them.

² And Jehovah was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man. And he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

⁸ But he refused and said to his master's wife, Behold, my master does not know what is in the house with me, and he has given all that he has into my hand. ⁹ There is none greater in this house than I. Neither has he kept back anything from me except you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

²³ The keeper of the prison did not look to anything under his hand, because Jehovah was with him; and whatever he did, Jehovah made it to prosper.

²⁸ And I have returned him to Jehovah. As long as he lives, he shall be given to Jehovah. And he worshiped Jehovah there.

¹⁸ And Samuel served before Jehovah, a child girded with a linen ephod.

²⁶ And the child Samuel went on growing both in stature and in goodness, both with Jehovah and also with men.

¹⁹ And Samuel grew, and Jehovah was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground. ²⁰ And all Israel, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of Jehovah. ²¹ And Jehovah appeared again in Shiloh. For Jehovah revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the Word of Jehovah.

⁷ But Jehovah said to Samuel, Do not look on his face, nor on his height, because I have refused him. For He does not see as man sees. For man looks on the outward appearance, but Jehovah looks on the heart.

¹² And he sent and brought him in. And he was ruddy, with beautiful eyes and good form. And Jehovah said, Arise, anoint him. For this is he. ¹³ And Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers. And the spirit of Jehovah came on David from that day forward. And Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.

³⁶ Your servant killed both the lion and the bear. And this uncircumcised Philistine shall be like one of them, since he has defied the armies of the living God. ³⁷ And David said, Jehovah who has delivered me out of the paw of the lion and out of the paw of the bear, He will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said to David, Go, and may Jehovah be with you.

³⁵ I am eighty years old today, and can I discern between good and evil? Can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Can I any more hear the voice of singing men and singing women? Why then should your servant be still a burden to my lord the king?

⁶ And Solomon said, You have shown to Your servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before You in truth and in righteousness and in uprightness of heart with You. And You have kept this great kindness for him, that You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is today. ⁷ And now, O Jehovah my God, You have made Your servant king instead of David my father. And I am a little child; I do not know to go out or come in! ⁸ And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a numerous people who cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. ⁹ And give to Your servant an understanding heart, to judge Your people, to discern between good and bad. For who is able to judge this, Your great people? ¹⁰ And the word was good in the eyes of Jehovah, that Solomon had asked this thing. ¹¹ And God said to him, Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life, and have not asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to judge justly, ¹² behold, I have done according to your words. Lo, I have given you a wise and an understanding heart, so that there was none like you before you, and after you none shall arise like you.

¹³ And all Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him. For he only of Jeroboam shall come down to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward Jehovah, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.

¹² And it will be as soon as I have gone from you, the Spirit of Jehovah shall carry you where I know not. And when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find you, he will kill me. But I, your servant, have feared Jehovah from my youth.

² And he did the right in the sight of Jehovah, and walked in the ways of David his father, and did not turn aside to the right nor to the left. ³ For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was still young, he began to seek after the God of David his father. And in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the Asherahs, and the carved images, and the molten images.

² Also, what profit for me was the strength of their hands, for full vigor had perished from them?

⁹ For You are He who took Me out of the womb, causing Me to trust while on My mother's breasts. ¹⁰ I was cast on You from the womb; You are My God from My mother's belly.

¹¹ Come, listen to me, my sons; I will teach you the fear of Jehovah.

¹⁷ O God, You have taught me from my youth; and before now I have declared Your wonderful works. ¹⁸ And now when I am old and gray-headed, O God, do not leave me; until I have declared Your strength to this generation, and Your power to everyone who is to come.

¹⁰ The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by strength they are fourscore years, yet their pride is labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

¹⁷ I love those who love me; and those who seek me early shall find me.

⁶ Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

⁸ but if a man lives many years, and rejoices in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness, for they shall be many. All that comes is vanity.

¹⁰ Therefore remove vexation from your heart, and put away evil from your flesh; for childhood and prime of life are vanity.

⁸ Yea, in the way of Your judgments, O Jehovah, we awaited You; for Your name and for Your memory is the desire of our soul.

²⁷ It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.

⁸ But Daniel laid on his heart that he would not defile himself with the king's food, nor with the wine which he drank. So he asked permission of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. ⁹ And God had given Daniel kindness and compassion before the chief of the eunuchs.

¹⁷ As for these four boys, God gave them knowledge and skill in all writing and wisdom. And Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

⁹ Strangers have eaten up his strength, and he does not know. Yea, gray hairs are here and there on him, yet he knows it not.

¹⁵ For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall neither drink wine nor strong drink. And he shall be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.

⁴⁰ And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom. And the grace of God was on Him. ⁴¹ And His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. ⁴² And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the Feast. ⁴³ And fulfilling the days, as they returned, the boy Jesus stayed in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know. ⁴⁴ But they, supposing Him to have been in the company, went a day's journey. And they looked for Him among the kinsfolk and acquaintances. ⁴⁵ And when they did not find Him, they turned back to Jerusalem, seeking Him. ⁴⁶ And it happened that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both hearing them and questioning them. ⁴⁷ And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers. ⁴⁸ And seeing Him, they were amazed. And His mother said to Him, Child, why have you done so to us? Behold, your father and I have looked for you, greatly distressed. ⁴⁹ And He said to them, Why did you look for Me? Do you not know that I must be about My Father's business? ⁵⁰ And they did not understand the word which He spoke to them. ⁵¹ And He went with them and came to Nazareth, and He was subject to them. But His mother kept all these sayings in her heart. ⁵² And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

¹⁶ But Jesus called them and said, Allow the little children to come to Me, and forbid them not. For of such is the kingdom of God.

⁴ And fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

¹⁵ and that from a babe you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
