¹⁸ O my God, bow down Your ear and hear. Open Your eyes and behold our ruins, and the city which is called by Your name. For we do not present our prayers before You on account of our righteousnesses, but because of Your great mercies.

⁷ And Jehovah said, I have surely seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt; I have heard their cry because of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows.

¹⁴ Return, we beg You, O God of Hosts; look down from Heaven, and behold, and visit this vine, ¹⁵ and the vineyard which Your right hand has planted, and the Son that You make strong for Yourself. ¹⁶ It is burned with fire, and cut down; they perish at the rebuke of Your holy face. ¹⁷ Let Your hand be on the Man of Your right hand, on the Son of man whom You have made strong for Yourself. ¹⁸ So we will not go back from You; make us live, and we will call on Your name. ¹⁹ Turn us again, O Jehovah, the God of Hosts; cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved.

¹⁷ Bow down Your ear, O Jehovah, and hear; open Your eyes, O Jehovah, and see; and hear all the words of Sennacherib which he has sent to mock the living God.

¹⁵ Look down from Heaven, and look down from the place of Your holiness and of Your glory; where is Your zeal and Your strength, the multitude of Your tender affections and of Your mercies toward me? Are they withheld? ¹⁶ For You are our Father, though Abraham does not know us, and Israel does not acknowledge us. You, O Jehovah, are our Father, our Redeemer; Your name is from everlasting. ¹⁷ O Jehovah, why have You made us wander from Your ways. You harden our heart from Your fear? For Your servants' sake, return the tribes of Your inheritance. ¹⁸ The people of Your holiness have possessed it but a little while; our enemies have trampled Your sanctuary. ¹⁹ We are from forever; You never ruled over them; Your name was never called on them.

⁶ But we are all as the unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as a menstruation cloth. And we all fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

¹² Will You restrain Yourself over these things, O Jehovah? Will You be silent and sorely afflict us?

¹⁰ and then come and stand before Me in this house which is called by My name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations? ¹¹ Has this house, which is called by My name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I also have seen, says Jehovah. ¹² But go now to My place which was in Shiloh, where I set My name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of My people Israel.

⁷ O Jehovah, though our iniquities testify against us, act for Your name's sake; for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against You.

⁹ Why should You be as a man stunned, as one mighty, yet who cannot save? Yet You, O Jehovah, are in our midst, and we are called by Your name. Do not leave us!

¹⁶ Your Words were found, and I ate them; and Your Word was to me the joy and gladness of my heart; for I am called by Your name, O Jehovah, the God of Hosts.

²⁹ For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by My name; and should you be found entirely without guilt? You shall not be without guilt. For I will call for a sword on all the inhabitants of the earth, says Jehovah of Hosts.

⁷ It may be they will present their prayer before Jehovah, and will return, each one from his evil way. For great is the anger and the fury that Jehovah has spoken against this people.

²⁰ And please hear now, O my lord the king; I beg you, let my cry be pleasing to you, so that you cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.

³² I do not do this for your sake, says the Lord Jehovah, be it known to you. Be ashamed and confounded for your ways, O house of Israel.
