³⁵ And you shall come up after him, and let him come and sit upon my throne. For he shall reign in my place. And I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah.

¹³ Go up and go in to King David, and say to him, My lord, O king, did you not swear to your handmaid, saying, Surely your son Solomon shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? Why then does Adonijah reign?

¹⁷ And she said to him, My lord, you swore by Jehovah your God to your handmaid, saying, Surely your son Solomon shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne.

¹² And Solomon sat upon the throne of David his father. And his kingdom was firmly established.

¹⁵ And he said, You know that the kingdom was mine, and that all Israel set their faces on me that I should reign. However, the kingdom is turned around, and has become my brother's. For it was his from Jehovah.

¹ And David was old and full of days, and he made his son Solomon king over Israel.

⁴ But Jehovah, the God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel forever. For He has chosen Judah to be the ruler, and of the house of Judah the house of my father. And in my father's house He was pleased to make me king over all Israel. ⁵ And of all my sons (for Jehovah has given me many sons), He has chosen Solomon my son to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.

⁶ Yea, I have set My king on My holy hill, on Zion.

¹ A Psalm of Solomon. Give the King Your judgments, O God, and Your righteousness to the King's son. ² He will judge Your people in righteousness, and Your poor with judgment.
