⁸ Again the devil took him up a very high mountain, whence he showed him all the kingdoms of the world in their glory,

²⁶ What is a man profited, if he should gain the whole world, with the forfeit of his life? or what will a man not give in ransom for his life?

⁵ Then the devil, having brought him to the top of a high mountain, showed him all the kingdoms of the world in an instant, ⁶ and said to him, All this power and glory I will give thee; for it is delivered to me, and to whomsoever I will, I give it; ⁷ if, therefore, thou wilt worship me, it shall all be thine.

²⁴ By faith, Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; ²⁵ choosing rather to suffer evil with the people of God, than to have the temporary fruition of sin, ²⁶ esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he looked forward to the retribution.

²⁴ "For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower of it falls down; but the word of the Lord remains forever."
