³⁵ He was an eye-witness, who attests this, and his testimony deserves credit: nay, he is conscious that he speaks truth, that you may believe.

²⁰ Nor do I pray for these alone, but for those also who shall believe on me through their teaching; ²¹ that all may be one; that as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, they also may be one in us, that the world may believe that thou hast sent me;

¹ The seniors who are among you, I exhort, who am also a senior, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory which is to be revealed.

¹⁵ And on your account I am glad that I was not there, that you may believe; but let us go to him.

⁴² As for me, I know that thou hearest me always; but I speak, for the people's sake who surround me, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

²⁹ This I tell you now, before it happens, that when it happens, you may believe.

²⁷ And you also will testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.

²⁶ Then Jesus, observing his mother, and the disciple whom he loved, standing by, said to his mother, Woman, behold your son.

³¹ But these are recorded, that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God; and, that believing, you may have life through his name.

²⁴ It is this disciple, who attests these things, and wrote this account; and we know that his testimony deserves credit.

³⁹ And we are witnesses of all things which he did, both in the region of the Jews, and in Jerusalem: whom they slew, hanging him on a tree.

⁴ Now whatever things were before written, were written for our instruction: that through the patience and admonition of the scriptures, we might have hope.

³ how shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation? which, beginning to be spoken by the Lord, was confirmed to us by them who heard him; ⁴ God, also, bearing witness, both by signs and wonders, and divers miracles, and distributions of the Holy Spirit, according to his own pleasure.)

¹ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have contemplated, and our hands have handled, concerning the living Word- ² (for the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and declare to you that life which is eternal, which was with the Father, and was manifested to us;) ³ that which we have seen and heard, we declare to you; that you also may have fellowship with us: and our fellowship truly is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
