¹⁷ Now, after several years, I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings:

¹ Now, concerning the collection, which is for the saints; as I ordered the congregations of Galatia, so also so you. ² On the first say of the week, let each of you lay somewhat by itself, according as he may have prospered, putting it into the treasury; that when I come, there may be then no collection. ³ And when I come, whomsoever you shall approve by letters, them I will send to carry your gift to Jerusalem. ⁴ Or, if it be proper that even I should go, they shall go with me.

²⁹ And the disciples determined, that, according to the respective abilities of each, they should send to the assistance of the brethren who dwelt in Judea. ³⁰ And this they did, sending it to the elders, by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

¹⁶ For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, that he might not spend any time in Asia; for he earnestly endeavored, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.

³¹ Watch, therefore, remembering that for the space of three years, I ceased not to warn every one, night and day, with tears.

²⁶ Then Paul took the men, and the next day, being purified with them, entered into the temple, declaring the accomplishment of the days of purification, till an offering should be offered for every one of them.

²⁵ But now I go to Jerusalem, ministering to the saints; ²⁶ for Macedonia and Achaia have been pleased to make some contribution for the poor of the saints who are in Jerusalem. ²⁷ They have been pleased, indeed; and their debtors they are: for if the Gentiles have partaken of their spiritual things, they ought certainly to minister to them in temporal things. ²⁸ Wherefore, having finished this affair, and having sealed to them this fruit, I will go from thence by you into Spain.

³¹ that I may be delivered from the disobedient in Judea; and that my service, which I am performing for Jerusalem, may be acceptable to the saints:

¹ Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the charity of God, which is given by the congregations of Macedonia; ² that in a great trial of affliction, the abundance of their joy, and their extreme poverty, superabounded to the riches of their liberality: ³ that to their power, (I bear witness,) yes, beyond their power, they were willing of themselves; with much entreaty ⁴ requesting us to accept the charity and the participation of the service, which is for the saints.

⁹ (For you know the charity of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor; that you, through his poverty, might be rich.)

¹ But, indeed, concerning the ministry which is for the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you. ² For I know your willingness: of which I boasted on your behalf, to the Macedonians, that Achaia was prepared since the last year; and your zeal has stirred up the multitude.

¹² For the ministry of this public service, not only fill us up completely the wants of the saints; but also abounds in many thanksgivings to God.

¹⁰ requesting only, that we would remember the poor, which very thing I had also been diligent to do.
