¹⁷ And he that taketh the life of any man shall surely be put to death.

⁵ Your blood, however, on which your lives depend, will I require: at the hand of every beast will I require it; and at the hand of man, at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man. ⁶ Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God made he man.

¹² He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall surely be put to death. ¹³ And if he did not lie in wait, but God let it come into his hand, then will I appoint thee a place whither he shall flee. ¹⁴ But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbor, to slay him with guile, from my altar shalt thou take him, that he may die.

³⁰ Whoever it be that killeth a person, according to the testimony of witnesses shall the murderer be put to death; but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die. ³¹ Moreover ye shall take no redemption money for the person of a murderer, who is guilty of death; but he shall surely be put to death.

¹¹ But if any man be an enemy to his neighbor, and he lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally so that he die, and he flee unto one of these cities: ¹² Then shall the elders of his city send and fetch him thence, and they shall deliver him into the hand of the avenger of the blood, that he may die.

²⁴ Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbor secretly; and all the people shall say, Amen.
