²⁵ And Joshua made a covenant with the people on that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.

²⁵ And he cried unto the Lord; and the Lord showed him a tree, which he cast into the waters, and the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them.

³ And Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord, and all the laws of justice; and all the people answered with one voice, and said, all the words which the Lord hath spoken will we do.

⁷ And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the hearing of the people; and they said, all that the Lord hath spoken will we do and obey. ⁸ And Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these words.

² The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. ³ Not with our fathers did the Lord make this covenant, but with us, we who are here all of us alive this day.

¹ And Joshua assembled all the tribes of Israel to Shechem; and he called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers, and they presented themselves before God.

²⁶ And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God; and he took a great stone, and set it up there under the oak, that was by the sanctuary of the Lord.

¹⁷ And Yehoyada’ made a covenant between the Lord and between the king and between the people, that they should be a people unto the Lord; and between the king and between the people.

¹² And they entered into the covenant to seek the Lord the God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;

And the inhabitants of Jerusalem acted in accordance with the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.

^{38 (10:1)} And because of all this, we make a faithful covenant, and write it down; and on the sealed document are our princes, our Levites, and our priests.
