³⁵ And in the morning he rose up very early and went away to a lonely place, and there prayed.

²³ And when he had dismissed the people, he went up to the mountain alone to pray; and when darkness fell he was still there alone.

⁴⁶ And when he had dismissed them, he went up to the mountain to pray. ⁴⁷ When evening came, the boat was in the midst of the sea, and he was alone on the land. ⁴⁸ And he saw them struggling as they were rowing, for the wind was against them; and in the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the water, and he wanted to pass by them.

⁴² And in the morning, he came out and went to a desert place; and the people were looking for him, and came where he was; and they held him so that he might not leave them. ⁴³ But Jesus said to them, I must preach the kingdom of God in other cities also; because I was sent for this.

¹⁶ But he departed into the wilderness, and prayed.

¹² It happened in those days, Jesus went out to a mountain to pray, and he remained all night in prayer to God.

³⁹ And he went out and went away, as it was his custom, to the Mount of the Home of Olives; and his disciples also followed him. ⁴⁰ And when he arrived at a place, he said to them, Pray that you may not enter into temptation. ⁴¹ And he separated from them, about the distance of a stoneÆs throw, and he kneeled down, and prayed, ⁴² Saying, O Father, if you will, let this cup pass from me; but not as I will, but your will be done. ⁴³ And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, to strengthen him. ⁴⁴ And he was in fear, and prayed earnestly; and his sweat became like drops of blood; and he fell down upon the ground. ⁴⁵ Then he rose up from his prayer, and came to his disciples, and found them sleeping because of distress. ⁴⁶ And he said to them, Why do you sleep? rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.

³⁴ Jesus said to them, My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to finish his work.

¹⁵ But Jesus knew that they were ready to come and seize him to make him a king, so he departed to the mountain alone.

¹⁸ And pray always, with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and in that prayer be watchful at all times, praying constantly and supplicating for all the saints,

⁵ Reason this within you which Jesus Christ also reasoned,

⁷ Even when he was clothed in the flesh, he offered prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death; and verily he was heard.
