¹ LET us therefore fear, while the prom ise of entering into his rest remains, lest some amongst you find they are prevented from entering.

²¹ It is not everyone who merely says to me, My Lord, my Lord, will enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father in heaven. ²² A great many will say to me in that day, My Lord, my Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name cast out devils, and in your name do many wonders? ²³ Then I will declare to them, I have never known you; keep away from me, O you that work iniquity.

²⁶ And whoever hears these words of mine, and does them not, is like a foolish man, who built his house upon sand. ²⁷ And the rain came down, and the rivers overflowed, and the winds blew, and they beat upon that house; and it fell down, and its fall was very great.

⁴⁸ But if a bad servant should say in his heart, My lord will delay his coming,

⁴⁵ But if that servant should say in his heart, My master has delayed his coming; and begins to beat the servants and maidservants of his master, and then begins to eat and drink and get drunk; ⁴⁶ The master of that servant will come in a day and at an hour that he does not expect or know; and he will severely punish him, and place him with those who are not trustworthy.

²⁵ From the hour when the master of the house rises up and locks the door, you will be standing outside and knocking at the door, and you will begin to say, Our Lord, our Lord, open for us; and he will answer and say, I say to you, I do not know you where you come from. ²⁶ And you will begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in your presence, and you taught in our streets. ²⁷ And he will say to you, I do not know you where you come from; depart from me, O you workers of iniquity. ²⁸ There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, and Isaac and Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you thrown outside. ²⁹ And they will come from the east and from the west, and from the south and from the north, and sit down in the kingdom of God. ³⁰ And behold, there are some who are last, who will be first, and there are some who are first who will be last.

³ For what if some had not believed, could their unbelief nullify the faith of God? ⁴ Far be it: only God is true and no man is wholly perfect; as it is written, That you may be justified by your words, and triumph when you are judged.

²³ For all have sinned and are short of the glory of God:

²⁰ Well; they were cut off because of their unbelief, but you exist by faith. Be not highminded, but fear God.

²⁶ I therefore so run, not for something that is uncertain; and I so fight, not as one who beats the air: ²⁷ But I conquer and subdue my body so that, by no chance, when I have preached to others, will I despise myself.

¹² Therefore, let him who thinks he can stand, take heed so that he may not fall.

¹³ But if we believe not in him, yet he will still remain faithful; for he cannot deny himself.

¹ THEREFORE, we should give earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time they be lost. ² For if the word spoken by the angels has been affirmed, and every one who has heard it and transgressed it has received a just reward, ³ How shall we escape, if we neglect the very things which are our salvation and which were first spoken by our LORD, and were proved to us by those who had heard him,

¹¹ So I swore in my anger, They shall not enter into my rest.

³ But we who have believed will enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, they shall not enter into my rest; for behold, the works of God were from the very foundation of the world. ⁴ For he said concerning the sabbath, God rested on the seventh day from all his works. ⁵ And here again he said, They shall not enter into my rest.

⁹ It is therefore the duty of the people of God to keep the Sabbath.

¹¹ Let us strive therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall like those who were disobedient.

¹⁵ Take heed lest any man among you be found short of the grace of God; or lest any root of bitterness spring forth and harm you, and thereby many be defiled;

²⁵ Beware, therefore, lest you refuse him who speaks to you. For if they were not delivered who refused him who spoke with them on earth, much more can we not escape if we refuse him who speaks to us from heaven:

⁷ Remember those who are your leaders, those who have spoken the word of God to you: mark the completeness of their works, and imitate their faith.
