¹ BE therefore God-like, as beloved chil dren.

⁴⁵ So that you may become sons of your Father who is in heaven, who causes his sun to shine upon the good and upon the bad, and who pours down his rain upon the just and upon the unjust.

⁴⁸ Therefore, you become perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

³⁵ But love your enemies, and do good to them, and lend, and do not cut off any manÆs hope; so your reward will increase, and you will become sons of the Highest; for he is gracious to the wicked and the cruel. ³⁶ Be therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

¹² But those who received him, to them he gave power to become sons of God, especially to those who believed in his name;

³² And be kind one to another and tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God has forgiven us through Christ.

¹² Therefore as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on mercy, kindness, gentleness, humbleness of mind, meekness, patience;

¹⁵ But be you holy in all your conduct, as he who has called you is holy; ¹⁶ Because it is written, Be you holy, even as I am holy.

¹ SEE how abundant the love of the Fa ther is toward us, for he has called us sons and made us: therefore the world does not know us because it did not know him. ² My beloved, now we are the sons of God, and as yet it has not been revealed what we shall be: but we know that when he shall appear, we shall be in his likeness; for we shall see him as he is.

¹¹ My beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
