²¹ Except it be for this one saying which I cried standing before them, It is for the resurrection of the dead that I am tried before you this day.

² Being infuriated that they taught the people and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

⁶ Now when Paul perceived that part of the people were SadÆdu-cees, and the others were PharÆi-sees, he cried out in the assembly, Men, my brethren, I am a PharÆi-see, the son of a PharÆi-see: and it is because of the hope of the resurrection of the dead that I am here to be judged.

⁶ And now I stand and am on trial for the hope of the promise made of God to our fathers. ⁷ It is to the fulfillment of this hope that our twelve tribes expect to come, by means of earnest prayers day and night. And for this very hopeÆs sake, I am accused by the Jews, O King A-gripÆpa. ⁸ How can you judge? Is it improper to believe that God can raise the dead?

²⁰ This is the reason I begged you to come, for I wish to see you and to relate these things to you; because it is for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.
