¹² And God said to Balaam, You shall not go with them, neither shall you curse the people; for they are blessed.

² And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you and magnify your name, and you shall be blessed.

¹⁶ surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand which is by the shore of the sea, and your seed shall inherit the cities of their enemies. ¹⁷ And in your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have listened to my voice. ¹⁸ And Abraam returned to his servants, and they arose and went together to the well of the oath; and Abraam lived at the well of the oath. ¹⁹ And now do you⌃ also wait here this night, and I shall know what the Lord will yet say to me. ²⁰ And God came to Balaam by night, and said to him, If these men are come to call you, rise and follow them; nevertheless the word which I shall speak to you, it shall you do.

³ And Balaam said to Balac, Stand by your sacrifice, and I will go and see if God will appear to me and meet me, and the word which he shall show me, I will report to you. And Balac stood by his sacrifice.

¹³ And Balac said to him, Come yet with me to another place where you shall not see the people, but only you shall see a part of them, and shall not see them all; and curse me them from thence. ¹⁴ And he took him to a high place of the field to the top of the quarried [rock], and he built there seven altars, and offered a calf and a ram on [every] altar. ¹⁵ And Balaam said to Balac, Stand by your sacrifice, and I will go to enquire of God.

¹⁹ God is not as man to waver, nor as the son of man to be threatened; shall he say and not perform? shall he speak and not keep [to his word]? ²⁰ Behold, I have received [commandment] to bless: I will bless, and not turn back.

²³ For there is no divination in Jacob, nor enchantment in Israel; in season it shall be told to Jacob and Israel what God shall perform.

⁵ But the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam; and the Lord your God changed the curses into blessings, because the Lord your God loved you.

²⁹ Blessed [are] you, O Israel; who [is] like to you, O people saved by the Lord? your helper shall hold his shield over you, and [his] sword [is] your boast; and your enemies shall speak falsely to you, and you shall tread upon their neck.

¹⁵ [sending] a dream, or in the meditation of the night; (as when a dreadful alarm happens to fall upon men, in slumberings on the bed:) ¹⁶ then opens he the understanding of men: he scares them with such fearful visions: ¹⁷ to turn a man from unrighteousness, and he delivers his body from a fall.

¹⁵ The eyes of all wait upon you; and you give [them] their food in due season.

⁵ Great is our Lord, and great is his strength; and his understanding is infinite.

⁵ O my people, remember now, what counsel Balac king of Moab took against you, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him, from the reeds to Galgal; that the righteousness of the Lord might be known.
