¹⁵ I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I would that you were cold, or hot.

²⁹ Oh that this heart of theirs would be like this always, to fear Me, and to keep all My commandments, that it might be well with them, and with their sons forever.

¹⁵ And if it seems evil in your eyes to serve Jehovah, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve, whether the gods whom your fathers served Beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living. But as for me and my house, we will serve Jehovah. ¹⁶ And the people replied and said, Far be it from us to forsake Jehovah, to serve other gods. ¹⁷ For Jehovah our God is He who has brought us and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slaves, and who has done these great signs before our eyes, and has preserved us in all the way in which we have gone, and among all the people through whom we have passed. ¹⁸ And Jehovah has cast out all the peoples, even the Amorite inhabiting the land before us. We also will serve Jehovah, for He is our God. ¹⁹ And Joshua said to the people, You cannot serve Jehovah, for He is a holy God; He is a jealous God. He will not lift up from you your transgressions or your sins. ²⁰ When you forsake Jehovah, and shall serve strange gods, then He will turn away and do evil to you, and consume you, after He has done good to you. ²¹ And the people said to Joshua, No, but we will serve Jehovah. ²² And Joshua said to the people, You are witnesses against yourselves, that you have chosen Jehovah for yourselves, to serve Him (for they said, We are witnesses) ²³ and now turn away from the strange gods among you, and incline your heart to Jehovah the God of Israel. ²⁴ And the people said to Joshua, We will serve Jehovah our God, and we will listen to His voice.

²¹ And Elijah came near all the people and said, Until when are you limping over two opinions? If Jehovah is God, follow Him; and if Baal, follow him. But the people did not answer him a word.

¹¹ But My people would not listen to My voice, and Israel did not consent to Me. ¹² So I gave them up to the stubbornness of their own hearts; they walked in their own conceits. ¹³ Oh if My people had listened to me! If Israel had walked in My ways,

²⁶ My son, give Me your heart, and let your eyes watch My ways.

⁸ Ephraim mixed himself among the peoples. Ephraim is a cake not turned.

² their heart is divided. Now they shall be guilty. He will break down their altars; He will spoil their pillars.

⁵ and those bowing to the host of the heavens on the housetops; and those bowing, swearing to Jehovah, also swearing by Malcham, ⁶ and those drawing back from after Jehovah, and who have not sought Jehovah, nor asked of Him.

²⁴ No one is able to serve two lords; for either he will hate the one, and he will love the other; or he will cleave to the one, and he will despise the other. You are not able to serve God and wealth.

³⁷ He that loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he that loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

¹² And because lawlessness shall have been multiplied, the love of the many will grow cold.

²⁷ And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me, he cannot be My disciple. ²⁸ For who of you desiring to build a tower does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has the things to finish;

¹¹ in diligence, not slothful, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;

²² If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be a curse. The Lord comes!

²⁰ For I fear lest somehow coming I not find you as I wish, and I be found by you such as you do not wish; lest somehow there be strifes, envyings, angers, rivalries, evil speakings, whisperings, proud thoughts, disturbances;

⁹ And this I pray, that your love may yet abound more and more in full knowledge and all perception,

³ Brothers, we are bound to give thanks to God always concerning you, even as it is right, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of each one of you multiplies toward one another,

⁸ he is a double-souled man, not dependable in all his ways.

²² Having purified your souls in the obedience of the truth through the Spirit to unpretended brotherly love, love one another fervently out of a pure heart,

² I know your works, and your labor, and your patience, and that you cannot bear evil ones; and you tried those pretending to be apostles and are not, and found them to be liars.

⁴ But I have against you that you left your first love.

¹ And to the angel of the church in Sardis, write: These things says the One having the seven spirits of God, and the seven stars: I know your works, that you have the name that you live, and are dead.
