And he had peace on all sides from around him. ²⁵ And Judah and Israel lived securely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree; from Dan even to Beersheba all the days of Solomon. ²⁶ And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. ²⁷ And those officers provided food for king Solomon, and for all who came to king Solomon's table, a man in his month. they did not lack anything. ²⁸ They also brought barley and straw for the horses and mules to the place where the officers were, each man according to his charge.

²⁵ And over the king's treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel. And Jehonathan the son of Uzziah was over the storehouses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the strongholds. ²⁶ Ezri the son of Chelub was over those who did the work of the field for working the ground. ²⁷ Shimei of Ramah was over the vineyards. Zabdi the Shiphmite was over the increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars. ²⁸ And Baa-lhanan of Geder was over the olive trees and sycamore trees in the lowlands. And Joash was over the oil cellars. ²⁹ And Shitrai of Sharon was over the herds that fed in Sharon. And Shaphat the son of Adlai was over the herds in the valleys. ³⁰ And Obil the Ishmaelite was over the camels And Jehdeiah the Meronothite was over the asses. ³¹ And Jaziz the Hagerite was over the flocks All these were the rulers of the possessions which king David had.

² And with all my power I have prepared for the house of my God, the gold for things of gold, and the silver for silver, and the bronze for bronze, the iron for iron things, and the wood for wood, onyx stones, and settings, and also stones of antimony and of different colors, and every precious stone, and stones of alabaster, in abundance. ³ And also, because I delighted in the house of my God, I have treasure of gold and silver which I give for the house of my God, even more than all that I have prepared for the house of the sanctuary: ⁴ three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir; and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses; ⁵ even gold for things of gold, and silver for silver, and for all the work of the hands of the skilled workers. And who is he that will willingly offer to consecrate his hand today to Jehovah? ⁶ And the chiefs of the fathers, and the chiefs of the tribes of Israel, and the commanders of the thousands, and the hundreds, even the chiefs of the king's work, offered willingly, ⁷ and gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents, and a myriad of darics; and ten thousand talents of silver, and eighteen thousand talents of bronze, and one hundred thousand talents of iron. ⁸ And he having stones gave them to the treasury of the house of Jehovah, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite. ⁹ And the people rejoiced because of their willing offering, for they offered willingly to Jehovah with a perfect heart; and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

¹⁸ And Solomon made all these vessels in great abundance, so that the weight of the bronze could not be searched out. ¹⁹ And Solomon made all the vessels that were for the house of God, and the golden altar, and the tables on which the Bread of the Presence rested; ²⁰ and the lampstands, and their lamps, for their burning was according to the ordinance, before the holy place, of refined gold; ²¹ and the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs of gold (it was perfect gold). ²² and the snuffers, and the bowls, and the spoons, and the firepans, of pure gold; and the entrance to the house, its innermost doors to the Holy of Holies, and the doors of the house to the temple, of gold.

³⁹ For the sons of Israel, and the sons of Levi, shall bring the offering of the grain, of the new wine, and the oil, to the rooms, and there shall be the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests ministering, and the gatekeepers and the singers. And we will not forsake the house of our God.

And after some days I asked leave from the king. ⁷ And I came to Jerusalem, and understood the evil which Eliashib did for Tobiah, in preparing a room for him in the courts of the house of God. ⁸ And it grieved me very much. And I threw all the household stuff of Tobiah out of the room. ⁹ Then I commanded, and they purified the rooms. And I returned there the vessels of the house of God, with the food offering and the frankincense. ¹⁰ And I was aware that the portions of the Levites had not been given, for the Levites and the singers who did the work had each one fled to his field. ¹¹ Then I contended with the rulers, and said, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered them and set them in their place. ¹² Then all Judah brought the tithe of the grain, and the new wine, and the oil, into the treasuries. ¹³ And I made treasurers over the treasuries: Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah. And next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah. For they were counted faithful, and on them was the duty to distribute to their brothers.

²¹ to cause those who love me to inherit wealth, and I will fill up their treasuries.

⁶ In the house of the righteous is much treasure, but in the gain of the wicked is tumult.

¹⁵ There is gold and a multitude of gems, but the lips of knowledge are a rare vessel.

²⁰ A desirable treasure and oil are in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man devours it.

²³ Know well the face of your flock; set your heart on your herds, ²⁴ for wealth is not forever, nor the crown from generation to generation. ²⁵ When the hay is removed, and the tender grass is seen, and the mountain plants are taken up, ²⁶ The lambs will be for your clothing, and the he goats the price for a field, ²⁷ and there will be goat's milk enough for your food, for the food of your household, and for the life of your maidens.

⁵² And He said to them, Because of this, every scribe schooled to the kingdom of Heaven is like a man, a master of a house, who puts forth out of his treasure new and old.
