⁷ And He spoke a parable to those who had been invited, noting how they were choosing out the chief seats, saying to them,

¹² And Samson said to them, Please let me riddle a riddle to you. If you certainly declare it to me in the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I shall give you thirty linen blouses and thirty changes of garments.

¹ Does not wisdom call? And does not understanding speak?

² Son of man, put forth a riddle and speak a parable to the house of Israel.

³⁴ Jesus spoke all these things in parables to the crowds, and He did not speak to them without a parable,

⁶ And they love the first couch in the suppers, and the first seats in the synagogues,

³⁸ And He said to them in His teaching, Be careful of the scribes, those desiring to walk about in robes, and greetings in the markets, ³⁹ and chief seats in the synagogues, and chief couches in the dinners,

⁴³ Woe to you, Pharisees! For you love the chief seat in the synagogues and the greetings in the marketplaces.
