¹ Then six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who had died, whom He raised from the dead.

¹⁷ And leaving them, He went out of the city to Bethany, and spent the night there.

⁶ And Jesus being in Bethany, in Simon the leper's house, ⁷ a woman came to Him having an alabaster vial of ointment, very precious. And she poured it on His head as He reclined. ⁸ But seeing, His disciples were indignant, saying, For what is this waste? ⁹ For this ointment could have been sold for much and be given to the poor. ¹⁰ But knowing, Jesus said to them, Why do you cause trouble to the woman? For she worked a good work toward Me. ¹¹ For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have Me.

¹¹ And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple. And having looked around at all things, the hour already being late, He went out to Bethany with the Twelve.

³ And He being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as He reclined, a woman came, having an alabaster vial of pure, costly ointment of nard. And breaking the alabaster vial, she poured it down His head. ⁴ And some were being indignant to themselves, and saying, To what has this waste of the ointment occurred? ⁵ For this could be sold for over three hundred denarii, and to be given to the poor. And they were incensed with her. ⁶ But Jesus said, Let her alone. Why do you cause her troubles? She worked a good work toward Me. ⁷ For you have the poor with you always, and when you wish, you can do well toward them. But you do not have Me always. ⁸ What this one held, she did. She took beforehand to anoint My body for the burial.

⁵⁰ He led them out as far as to Bethany. And lifting up His hands, He blessed them.

¹ And there was a certain sick one, Lazarus from Bethany, of the village of Mary and her sister Martha.

⁴⁴ And the one who had died came out, the feet and the hands having been bound with sheets, and his face being bound with a cloth. Jesus said to them, Loosen him and let him go.

⁵⁵ And the Passover of the Jews was near. And many went up to Jerusalem out of the country before the Passover, that they might purify themselves.

²⁰ And there were some Greeks among those coming up, that they might worship at the Feast.
