¹ Then let us fear lest in any way a promise having been left to enter into His rest, that any of you may seem to come short.

³⁴ by the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days, a day for a year, a day for a year; you shall bear your iniquities forty years; you shall know My alienation from you .

³⁰ So says Jehovah the God of Israel, I said indeed that your house and your father's house should walk before Me until forever. But now Jehovah says, Be it far from Me! For those who honor Me, I will honor; and those despising Me will be despicable.

¹⁶ The wise fears and departs from evil, but the fool rages and is sure.

¹⁴ Oh the happiness of a man who is awed by God constantly! But he who hardens his heart falls into evil.

⁴⁰ And I will cut an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do good to them. But I will put My fear in their heart, that they shall not depart from Me.

²¹ Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the kingdom of Heaven, but the ones who do the will of My Father in Heaven. ²² Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name do many works of power? ²³ And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; "depart from Me, those working lawlessness!" Psa. 6:8

²⁶ And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and who does not do them, he shall be compared to a foolish man who built his house on the sand; ²⁷ and the rain came down, and the rivers came up, and the winds blew and beat against that house; and it fell, and great was the fall of it.

⁴⁸ But if that wicked servant says in his heart, My lord delays to come,

⁴⁵ But if that slave should say in his heart, My lord delays to come, and should begin to beat the men servants and the female servants, and to eat and to drink and be drunk, ⁴⁶ the lord of that slave will come in the day in which he does not expect, and in an hour which he does not know. And he will cut him apart and will put his portion with the unbelievers.

²⁵ From the time the Master of the house shall have risen up, and He shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. And answering, He will say to you, I do not know you. From where are you? ²⁶ Then you will begin to say, We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets. ²⁷ And He will say, I tell you I do not know you, from where you are. "Stand back from Me all workers of unrighteousness!" Psa. 6:8 ²⁸ There will be weeping and gnashing of the teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrust outside. ²⁹ And they will come from east and west, and from north and south, and will recline in the kingdom of God. ³⁰ And, behold, there are last ones who will be first, and there are first ones who will be last.

³ For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief destroy the faith of God? ⁴ Let it not be! But let God be true, and every man a liar; even as it has been written, "That You should be justified in Your words, and will overcome in Your being judged." LXX-Psa. 50:6; MT-Psa. 51:4

²³ for all sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

²⁰ Well! For unbelief they were broken off. And you stand by faith. Do not be highminded, but fear.

²⁶ So I run accordingly, as not uncertainly; so I fight, as not beating air; ²⁷ but I buffet my body and lead it captive, lest proclaiming to others I myself might be rejected.

¹² So that he that thinks to stand, let him be careful that he not fall.

¹³ if we are unfaithful, that One remains faithful; He is not able to deny Himself.

¹ For this reason we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things heard, that we should not slip away at any time. ² For if the word spoken by angels was confirmed, and every transgression and disobedience received a just repayment; ³ how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? Which having received a beginning to be spoken through the Lord, was confirmed to us by the ones hearing,

¹¹ so I swore in My wrath, They shall not enter into My rest." LXX-Psa. 94:7-11; MT-Psa. 95:7-11

³ For we, the ones believing, enter into the rest, even as He said, "As I swore in My wrath, they shall not enter into My rest," though the works had come into being from the foundation of the world. LXX-Psa. 94:11, MT-Psa. 95:11 ⁴ For He has spoken somewhere about the seventh day this way, "And God rested from all His works in the seventh day." Gen. 2:2 ⁵ And in this place again, "They shall not enter into My rest." LXX-Psa. 94:11; MT-Psa. 95:11

⁹ So, then, there remains a sabbath rest to the people of God.

¹¹ Therefore, let us exert ourselves to enter into that rest, that not anyone fall in the same example of disobedience.

¹⁵ watching diligently that not any lack from the grace of God, that "no root of bitterness growing up" may crowd "in on you ", and through this many be defiled; Deut. 29:18

²⁵ Watch that you do not refuse the One speaking; for if these did not escape who refused Him who divinely warned them on earth, much rather we, those turning away from Heaven;

⁷ Remember your leaders who spoke the Word of God to you, considering the issue of their conduct, imitate their faith:
