²³ And Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not done. And he saddled the ass and rose up and went to his house, to his city. And he gave command to his household, then hanged himself, and died. And he was buried in the burying place of his father.

³³ And Ahithophel was the king's counselor. And Hushai the Archite was the king's companion. ³⁴ And after Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar. And the general of the king's army was Joab.
