¹ The _⌊Israelites_⌋* set out, and they encamped on the desert-plateau of Moab, across from Jericho beyond the Jordan. ² Balak son of Zippor saw all that Israel did to the Amorites,* ³ and Moab was very terrified in the presence of the people because _⌊they_⌋* were numerous; and Moab dreaded the presence of the _⌊Israelites_⌋.* ⁴ And Moab said to the elders of Midian, "Now the crowd will lick up all around us, like a bull devours the grass of the field." And Balak son of Zippor was king of Moab at that time. ⁵ He sent messengers to Balaam son of Beor at Pethor, which is by the river,* in the land of the children of his people, to summon him, saying, "Look! A people went out from Egypt. Look! They cover _⌊the surface of the land_⌋;* they are about to dwell opposite me. ⁶ Now, please go, curse this people for me because they* are stronger than me; perhaps I will be able to strike them* and drive them* out from the land because I know whoever you bless is blessed, and whoever you cursed is cursed." ⁷ So the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian went with a fee for divination in their hand; they came to Balaam and spoke the words of Balak to him. ⁸ He said to them, "Spend the night here, and I will return, and I will return word to you, just as Yahweh speaks to me." So the princes of Moab stayed with Balaam. ⁹ And God came to Balaam and said, "Who are these men with you?" ¹⁰ And Balaam said to God, "Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, sent word to me, ¹¹ 'Look! A people went out from Egypt. Look! They cover _⌊the surface of the land_⌋.* Now, go, curse them* for me. Perhaps I will be able to attack them* and drive them* out." ¹² God said to Balaam, "You will not go with them; you will not curse the people, because they* are blessed." ¹³ Balaam got up in the morning, and he said to the princes of Balak, "Go to your land, because Yahweh refused to allow me to go with you." ¹⁴ The princes of Moab got up and went to Balak, and they said, "Balaam refused to come with us." ¹⁵ Balak again sent many princes, who were more honored _⌊than the former_⌋.* ¹⁶ They came to Balaam and said to him, "Thus says Balak son of Zippor, 'Please, let nothing keep you from coming to me ¹⁷ because I will surely honor you greatly, and all that you say to me I will do. Please, come; curse this people for me.'" ¹⁸ Balaam answered and said to the servants of Balak, "Even though Balak gives to me his house full of silver and gold, I am not able to go beyond _⌊the command of Yahweh_⌋* my God to do a little or a lot. ¹⁹ And now please, _⌊you also stay here_⌋* the night, and _⌊let me find out_⌋* again what Yahweh will say with me." ²⁰ And God came to Balaam at night, and he said to him, "If the men have come to call you, get up and go with them; but only the word that I will speak to you, you will do." ²¹ So Balaam got up in the morning and saddled his donkey, and he went with the princes of Moab. ²² But _⌊God became angry_⌋* because he was going, and the angel of Yahweh stood in the road as an adversary to him; he was riding on his donkey, and two servants were with him. ²³ The donkey saw the angel of Yahweh standing in the road with his sword drawn in his hand, and the donkey turned aside from the road and went into the field. And Balaam struck the donkey to turn her back to the road. ²⁴ The angel of Yahweh stood in the narrow path of the vineyards, with _⌊a wall on either side_⌋.* ²⁵ When the donkey saw the angel of Yahweh, she pressed herself into the wall, and she pressed the foot of Balaam into the wall, so he struck her again. ²⁶ Then the angel of Yahweh went further ahead and stood in a narrow place where there was not a way to turn aside to the right or left. ²⁷ When the donkey saw the angel of Yahweh, she lay down under Balaam, so _⌊Balaam became angry_⌋,* and he struck the donkey with his staff. ²⁸ Yahweh opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, "What did I do to you that you struck me these three times?" ²⁹ Balaam said to the donkey, "Because you made a mockery of me! If only I had a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now!" ³⁰ The donkey said to Balaam, "Am I not your donkey on which you have ridden all your life until this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?" He said, "No." ³¹ Then Yahweh exposed the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of Yahweh standing in the road with his sword drawn in his hand, and he bowed down and worshiped to his face. ³² The angel of Yahweh said to him, "Why have you struck this donkey three times? Look, I have come out as an adversary because your conduct is perverse before me. ³³ The donkey saw me and turned aside from me these three times. If she had not turned aside from my face, then I would have killed you and kept her alive." ³⁴ Balaam said to the angel of Yahweh, "I have sinned because I did not know that you were standing to meet me in the road. Now, _⌊if it is displeasing to you_⌋,* I will turn back." ³⁵ The angel of Yahweh said to Balaam, "Go with the men, but speak only the word that I will speak to you." So Balaam went with the princes of Balak. ³⁶ When Balak heard that Balaam was coming, he went out to meet him by the city of Moab, which was on the boundary of Aaron at the end of the territory. ³⁷ And Balak said to Balaam, "Did I not urgently send to meet with you? Why did you not come to me? Am I really not able to honor you?" ³⁸ Balaam said to Balak, "Look, I came to you now. Am I really able to speak anything at all? I speak the word that God puts in my mouth." ³⁹ Balaam went with Balak, and they came to Kiriath-Huzoth. ⁴⁰ And Balak sacrificed cattle and sheep, and he sent them to Balaam and to the princes who were with him. ⁴¹ And it happened, in the morning Balak took Balaam and took him up to Bamoth-Baal, and he saw from there the end of the nation.

²⁰ and from Bamoth to the valley that is in the territory of Moab, by the top of Pisgah, which overlooks the surface of the wasteland.

¹⁹ For we will not take possession with them from across the Jordan and beyond because our inheritance has come to us from across the Jordan to the east."

⁴⁸ They set out from the mountains of Abarim and camped on the desert-plateau of Moab by the Jordan across Jericho. ⁴⁹ They camped by the Jordan, from Beth-Jeshimoth up to Abel Shittim, on the desert-plateau of Moab. ⁵⁰ Then Yahweh spoke to Moses on the desert-plateau of Moab by the Jordan across Jericho, saying,

¹⁵ The two and a half tribes have taken their inheritance from beyond the Jordan across Jericho, east toward the sunrise."

¹³ These were the commands and the stipulations that Yahweh commanded by the hand of Moses* to the _⌊Israelites_⌋* on the desert-plateaus of Moab by the Jordan across Jericho.

⁵ On the other side of * the Jordan in the land of Moab Moses began to explain this law,* _⌊saying_⌋:*

⁸ "And so we took at that time the land from _⌊the control of_⌋* the two kings of the Amorites* who were _⌊on the other side of the Jordan_⌋,* from the wadi* of Arnon up to _⌊Mount Hermon_⌋.*

¹ Then Moses went up from the desert plateau* of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, _⌊which is opposite_⌋* Jericho, and Yahweh showed him all of the land, Gilead all the way up to Dan,

⁸ And the _⌊Israelites_⌋* wept concerning Moses thirty days; finally the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were completed.

¹⁶ the waters flowing down from above stood still; they stood up in one heap very far from Adam, the city that is beside Zarethan, while the waters flowing down to the sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea,* _⌊were completely cut off_⌋;* and the people crossed over opposite Jericho.

³ Yahweh heard the voice of Israel; he gave to them the Canaanites, and _⌊they destroyed them_⌋* and their cities. They called the name of the place Hormah.

²⁰ and from Bamoth to the valley that is in the territory of Moab, by the top of Pisgah, which overlooks the surface of the wasteland. ²¹ Israel sent messengers to Sihon, the king of the Amorites,* saying, ²² "Let us go through your land; we will not turn aside into a field or vineyard; we will not drink well water along the way of the king until we have gone through your territory." ²³ But Sihon did not allow Israel to go through his territory. Sihon gathered all his people and went out to meet Israel; he came to the desert, to Jahaz, and he fought against Israel. ²⁴ But Israel struck him with the edge of the sword, and they took possession of his land from Arnon to Jabbok, until the _⌊Ammonites_⌋,* because the boundary of the _⌊Ammonites_⌋* was strong. ²⁵ Israel took all these cities, and Israel inhabited all the cities of the Amorites,* in Heshbon, and in all its environs.* ²⁶ Because Heshbon was the city of Sihon king of the Amorites,* who had fought against the former king of Moab and taken all his land from his hand until Arnon. ²⁷ Thus the ones who quote proverbs say,
"Come to Heshbon! Let it be built! And let the city of Sihon be established. ²⁸ Because fire went out from Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon; it consumed Ar of Moab, the lords of the* high places of Arnon. ²⁹ Woe to you, Moab! You have perished, people of Chemosh. He has given his sons as fugitives, and his daughters into captivity, to the king of the Amorites,* Sihon. ³⁰ We destroyed them; Heshbon has perished up to Dibon; we laid waste up to Nophah, which _⌊reaches_⌋* Medeba." ³¹ Thus Israel lived in the land of the Amorites.* ³² Moses sent to explore Jaazer; they captured _⌊its environs_⌋* and dispossessed the Amorites* who were there. ³³ Then they turned and went up by the way of the Bashan, and Og king of the Bashan and all his people went out to meet them for battle at Edrei. ³⁴ And Yahweh said to Moses, "Do not fear him because I will give him and all his people and all his land into your hand. You will do to him just as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites,* who was living in Heshbon." ³⁵ And so they destroyed him and his sons, and all his people until they had not spared a survivor; and they took possession of his land.

²⁵ So then, are you any better than Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab? Did he ever quarrel with Israel, or did he ever make war against them?

¹⁵ Then the chiefs of Edom were horrified; great distress seized the leaders of Moab; all of the inhabitants of Canaan melted away.

²⁵ This day I will begin to place _⌊the dread of you_⌋* and the fear of you _⌊before_⌋* the peoples under all the heavens. They will hear _⌊the report about you_⌋,* and so they will shake and tremble _⌊because of you_⌋.' *

¹⁰ For we have heard how Yahweh dried up the waters of the _⌊Red Sea_⌋* before you when you went out from Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites that were beyond the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed. ¹¹ We heard this, and our hearts* melted, and _⌊no courage was left in anyone_⌋* because of your presence. For Yahweh your God is God in the heavens above and on the earth below.

²⁴ They said to Joshua, "Surely Yahweh has given all the land into our hand; also, all the inhabitants of the land melt away in fear because of our presence."

²⁴ And they answered Joshua and said, "Because it was told with certainty to your servants that Yahweh your God commanded Moses his servant to give to you all the land and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land before you, so we were very afraid for our lives because of you, and so we did this thing.

⁵ There _⌊they are very fearful_⌋* where no fear had been, because God has scattered the bones of him who encamps against you. You have put them to shame, because God has rejected them.

⁵ When the report comes to Egypt, they will be in anguish at the report _⌊about_⌋* Tyre.

² Balak son of Zippor saw all that Israel did to the Amorites,*

⁷ So the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian went with a fee for divination in their hand; they came to Balaam and spoke the words of Balak to him.

¹⁷ I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near; a star will go out from Jacob, and a scepter will rise from Israel; it will crush the foreheads of Moab and destroy all the children of Seth.

¹⁵ The name of the Midianite woman who was struck was Cozbi daughter of Zur, _⌊a leader_⌋* of a tribe of _⌊the family_⌋* in Midian. ¹⁶ Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, ¹⁷ "Attack the Midianites and strike them ¹⁸ because they were attacking you with their deception, with which they have deceived you on the matter of Peor and on the matter of Cozbi the daughter of the leader of Midian, their sister who was struck on the day of the plague because of the matter of Peor."

⁸ They killed the kings of Midian in addition to the ones they had slain: Evi and Rekem and Zur and Hur and Reba, the five kings of Midian; they also killed Balaam son of Beor by the sword.

²¹ all of the cities of the plateau, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites,* who reigned in Heshbon and whom Moses defeated with the leaders of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the princes of Sihon who dwelled in the land. ²² In addition to their slain, the _⌊Israelites_⌋* killed with the sword Balaam son of Beor, who practiced divination.

³⁸ On all the roofs of Moab, and in its public squares, there is wailing everywhere. For I have broken Moab like a vessel, there is no delight in it," _⌊declares_⌋* Yahweh.

¹⁶ I will make your descendants like the dust of the earth which, if anyone were able to count the dust of the earth, your descendants would be so counted.

⁷ And the _⌊Israelites_⌋* were fruitful and multiplied and were many and were very, very numerous, and the land was filled with them. ⁸ And a new king rose over Egypt who did not know Joseph. ⁹ And he said to his people, "Look, the people of the _⌊Israelites_⌋* are greater and more numerous than us. ¹⁰ Come, we must deal shrewdly with them, lest they become many, and when war happens, they also will join our enemies and will fight against us and go up from the land."

⁷ And he lifted up his oracle and said,
"From Aram Balak lead me, from the mountains of the east the king of Moab, 'Go for me, curse Jacob, and go, denounce Israel.'

⁴ _⌊because_⌋* they did not come to meet you with food and with water _⌊when you came out of Egypt_⌋,* and also _⌊because_⌋* they* hired Balaam, son of Beor, from Pethor, in Aram Naharaim* to act against you to curse you.

²² In addition to their slain, the _⌊Israelites_⌋* killed with the sword Balaam son of Beor, who practiced divination.

⁹ Then Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, set out and fought against Israel, and he sent and summoned Balaam son of Beor to curse you,

¹ On that day the book of Moses was read in the hearing of the people and it was found written in it that no Ammonite or Moabite should ever come into the assembly of God ² because they did not come to meet the _⌊Israelites_⌋* with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them in order to curse them—but our God changed the curse into a blessing.

²⁴ And he* made his people very fruitful. He also made them* stronger than their* enemies.

⁵ O my people, remember what Balak the king of Moab devised, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him, and what happened from Shittim to Gilgal, so that you might know the righteous acts of Yahweh."

¹⁵ By* leaving the straight path, they have gone astray, because they* followed the way of Balaam the son of Bosor,* who loved the wages of unrighteousness, ¹⁶ but received a rebuke for his own lawlessness: a speechless donkey, speaking with a human voice, restrained _⌊the prophet's madness_⌋*.

¹¹ Woe to them! For they have traveled in the way of Cain, and have given themselves up to the error of Balaam for gain, and have perished* in the rebellion of Korah.

¹⁴ But I have a few things against you: that you have there those who hold fast to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat food sacrificed to idols and to commit sexual immorality.

³ And I will bless those who bless you, and those who curse you I will curse. And all families of the earth will be blessed in you."

²⁹ Let peoples serve you, and nations bow down to you; Be lord of your brothers, and may the sons of your mother bow down to you. Cursed be those cursing you, and blessed be those blessing you."

¹² God said to Balaam, "You will not go with them; you will not curse the people, because they* are blessed."

¹⁷ because I will surely honor you greatly, and all that you say to me I will do. Please, come; curse this people for me.'"

⁷ And he lifted up his oracle and said,
"From Aram Balak lead me, from the mountains of the east the king of Moab, 'Go for me, curse Jacob, and go, denounce Israel.' ⁸ How can I curse whom God has not cursed, and how can I denounce whom Yahweh has not denounced?

⁹ He crouches, he lies down like a lion, and like a lioness, who will rouse him? They who bless you will be blessed, and they who curse you will be cursed."

⁴³ So the Philistine said to David, "Am I a dog, that you are coming to me with sticks?" Then the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

⁶ Then the king of Israel assembled the prophets, about four hundred men, and he said to them, "Shall I go against Ramoth-Gilead for the battle, or should I refrain?" Then they said, "Go up, for the Lord will give it into the hand of the king."

⁸ Then the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is still one man to inquire from Yahweh, but I despise him, for he never prophesies anything good concerning me, but only bad: Micaiah the son of Imlah." Then Jehoshaphat said, "The king should not say so."

¹³ Then the messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, "Please now, the words of the prophet are _⌊unanimously_⌋* favorable to the king. Please let your words be as one word with them, and speak favorably."

² because they did not come to meet the _⌊Israelites_⌋* with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them in order to curse them—but our God changed the curse into a blessing.

¹⁷ Because he loved cursing, let it come upon him. Because he did not delight in blessing, let it be far from him. ¹⁸ Because he wore a curse as his robe, let it enter _⌊his body_⌋* like water, and into his bones like oil.

²⁸ Let them curse, but you bless. When they arise, let them be put to shame, that your servant may be glad.

² Like the sparrow is to fluttering and like the swallow is to flying, so an undeserved curse does not go forth.

¹² Stand, now, in your enchantments, and in your many sorceries with which you have labored from your youth. Perhaps you may be able to benefit; perhaps you may _⌊scare away_⌋.* ¹³ You struggle with your many consultations;* let them stand, now, and save you— those who see the stars, divide the _⌊celestial sphere_⌋,* who inform by new moons— from those things that are coming upon you.

⁶ They saw falseness and _⌊a lying divination_⌋,* the ones saying, 'Declaration of Yahweh!' and Yahweh did not send them, and they wait _⌊for the confirmation of their word_⌋.*

⁹ Now a certain man _⌊named_⌋* Simon had been in the city practicing magic and astonishing the people of Samaria, saying he was someone great. ¹⁰ They were all paying attention to _⌊him_⌋,* from the least to the greatest, saying, "This man is the power of God that is called 'Great.'"

¹⁶ And it happened that as* we were going to the place of prayer, a certain female slave who had a spirit of divination* met us, who was bringing a large profit to her owners by* fortune-telling.

²³ Because there is no sorcery against Jacob, and there is no divination against Israel. Now* it will be said to Jacob and Israel, what God has done!

¹ And Balaam saw that _⌊it pleased_⌋* Yahweh to bless Israel, and he did not go _⌊as other times_⌋* _⌊to seek out_⌋* sorcery; instead, he set his face toward the desert.

⁷ So Saul said to his servant, "Look, we may go, but what should we bring to the man? For the bread is gone from our bags, and there is no present to bring to the man of God. What do we have with us?" ⁸ The servant again answered Saul and said, "Look, _⌊I have_⌋* in my hand a quarter shekel of silver! I will give it to the man of God so that he will tell us our way."

¹¹ And the dogs _⌊have a greedy appetite_⌋;* they _⌊are never satisfied_⌋.* And they are the shepherds! They do not have* understanding. They all turn to their own way, each one for his own gain, _⌊every one of them_⌋.*

¹⁹ And you defiled me among my people for a handful of barley and for morsels of bread to kill persons who should not die and to keep alive persons who should not live by means of your lies to my people who are listening to your lies." '*

¹¹ Its rulers judge for a bribe; its priests teach for a price; its prophets practice divination for money. But they lean on Yahweh, saying, "Is not Yahweh in our midst? Disaster will not come upon us."

¹⁸ For such people do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own stomach, and by smooth speech and flattery they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.

⁹ But those who want to be rich fall into temptation and a trap and many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge those people into ruin and destruction. ¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all evil, by which some, because they* desire it, have gone astray from the faith and have pierced themselves with many pains.

¹¹ whom it is necessary to silence, whoever are ruining whole families by* teaching things which must not be taught for the sake of dishonest gain.

¹⁵ By* leaving the straight path, they have gone astray, because they* followed the way of Balaam the son of Bosor,* who loved the wages of unrighteousness,

⁶ and he said,
"Please hear my words: If there is a prophet among you, I, Yahweh, will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak to him in a dream.*

¹⁹ And now please, _⌊you also stay here_⌋* the night, and _⌊let me find out_⌋* again what Yahweh will say with me." ²⁰ And God came to Balaam at night, and he said to him, "If the men have come to call you, get up and go with them; but only the word that I will speak to you, you will do."

¹² He answered and said, "_⌊Should I not speak_⌋* what Yahweh puts in my mouth?"

² Not only do you plant them, they take root. They grow, but also they produce fruit. You are near in their mouths, but far from their _⌊inmost beings_⌋.*

³¹ And they come to you _⌊as people do_⌋,* and they sit _⌊before you_⌋,* and my people hear your words, and they do not do them, for they are showing* passion in their mouth, but their heart is going after ill-gotten gain.

⁹ And Yahweh God called to the man* and said to him, "Where are you?" ¹⁰ And he replied,* "I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid because I am naked, so I hid myself." ¹¹ Then he* asked,* "Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from _⌊the tree from which I forbade you to eat_⌋?"*

⁹ Then* Yahweh said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?" And he said, "I do not know; am I my brother's keeper?"

⁸ And he said to Hagar, the servant of Sarai, "_⌊From where_⌋* have you come, and where are you going?" And she said, "I am fleeing from the presence of Sarai my mistress."

³ And God came to Abimelech in a dream at night. And he said to him, "Look, you are a dead man on account of the woman you have taken. For she is _⌊a married woman_⌋."*

²⁴ And God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream at night and said to him, "_⌊Take care_⌋* that you not speak with Jacob, whether good or evil."

²⁵ Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, "The dreams of Pharaoh are one. God has revealed to Pharaoh what he is about to do.

² And Yahweh said to him, "What is this in your hand?" And he said, "A staff."

²⁰ And God came to Balaam at night, and he said to him, "If the men have come to call you, get up and go with them; but only the word that I will speak to you, you will do."

¹⁴ Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah and said to him, "What did these men say, and from where have they come to you?" Hezekiah said, "From a far land; they have come from Babylon." ¹⁵ Then he asked, "What did they see in your palace?" And Hezekiah said, "All that is in my palace they have seen; there is nothing that I did not show them in my treasuries."

⁴⁵ _⌊Inasmuch as_⌋* you saw that a stone from the mountain was chiseled out* but not by hands, and that it crushed the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold, thereby the great God made known to the king what will be _⌊in the future_⌋,* and the dream is certain and its explanation trustworthy."

³¹ While the words were still in the mouth of the king, a voice from heaven came, saying, 'To you, King Nebuchadnezzar, it is declared that the kingdom has departed from you, ³² and you will be driven away from _⌊human society_⌋* and your dwelling will be with the animals* of the field and they will cause you to graze the grass like oxen, and seven times will pass over you, until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over the kingdom of humankind and that he gives it to whom he wills.'

²² On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many miracles in your name?'

²⁴ For false messiahs and false prophets will appear, and will produce great signs and wonders in order to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

⁵¹ (Now he did not say this from himself, but being high priest in that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation,

² And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you, and I will make your name great. And you will be a blessing.

¹⁶ And he said, "I swear by myself, declares Yahweh, that because you have done this thing and have not withheld your son, your only child, ¹⁷ that I will certainly bless you and greatly multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven, and as the sand that is by the shore of the sea. And your offspring will take possession of the gate of his enemies. ¹⁸ All the nations of the earth will be blessed through your offspring, because you have listened to my voice."

³ And Balaam said to Balak, "Station yourself at your burnt offering, and I will go; perhaps Yahweh will come to meet me, and whatever he shows me I will tell to you." So he went to a barren height.

¹³ Then Balak said, "Please walk with me to another place where you will see them, but you will only see part of them and will not see all of them; and curse them for me from there." ¹⁴ So he took him to the field of Zophim to the top of Pisgah, and he built seven altars, and he offered a bull and a ram on each altar. ¹⁵ Balaam* said to Balak, "Station yourself here at the burnt offering while I myself meet with Yahweh there."

¹⁹ God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of humankind, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? And has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? ²⁰ Behold, I have received a command to bless; when he has blessed, I cannot cause it to return.

⁵ But Yahweh your God was not willing to listen to Balaam, and Yahweh your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because Yahweh your God loved you.

²⁹ Blessed are you, O Israel. Who is like you, a people who is saved by Yahweh, the shield of your help, and who is the sword of your triumph, and your enemies, they shall fawn before you,* and you shall tread on their backs."

¹⁵ "In a dream, a vision of the night, when a deep sleep falls on men slumbering on their bed, ¹⁶ then he opens the ear of men, and _⌊he frightens them with a warning_⌋* ¹⁷ to turn human beings aside from their deeds, and he keeps man from pride.

¹⁵ Blessed are the people who have it thus. Blessed are the people whose God is Yahweh.

⁵ Blessed is the one whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is on Yahweh as his God,

¹⁹ And while* he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent a message* to him, saying, "_⌊Have nothing to do with that righteous man_⌋,* for I have suffered much as a result of a dream today because of him.")

⁶ just as David also speaks about the blessing of the person to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: ⁷ "Blessed are they whose lawless deeds have been forgiven, and whose sins are covered over.

²⁹ For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

³ Blessed is* the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

¹⁴ The princes of Moab got up and went to Balak, and they said, "Balaam refused to come with us."

¹³ Balaam got up in the morning, and he said to the princes of Balak, "Go to your land, because Yahweh refused to allow me to go with you."

³⁷ And Balak said to Balaam, "Did I not urgently send to meet with you? Why did you not come to me? Am I really not able to honor you?"

⁷ So the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian went with a fee for divination in their hand; they came to Balaam and spoke the words of Balak to him. ⁸ He said to them, "Spend the night here, and I will return, and I will return word to you, just as Yahweh speaks to me." So the princes of Moab stayed with Balaam.

⁷ And when the angel who spoke to him departed, he summoned two of the household slaves and a devout soldier from those who attended him, ⁸ and after he* had explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.

⁶ Now, please go, curse this people for me because they* are stronger than me; perhaps I will be able to strike them* and drive them* out from the land because I know whoever you bless is blessed, and whoever you cursed is cursed."

² And Balak did just as Balaam spoke, and Balak offered Balaam a bull and a ram on the altar. ³ And Balaam said to Balak, "Station yourself at your burnt offering, and I will go; perhaps Yahweh will come to meet me, and whatever he shows me I will tell to you." So he went to a barren height.

²⁹ And Balaam said to Balak, "Build for me these seven altars, and prepare for me these seven bulls and seven rams." ³⁰ Balak did just as Balaam said, and he offered a bull and a ram on each altar.

¹¹ _⌊Flee_⌋* to your place now. I said I would richly honor you, but look, Yahweh has withheld honor from you."

⁹ "You shall count off seven weeks for you; _⌊from the time you begin to harvest the standing grain_⌋* you shall begin to count seven weeks.

¹¹ And Haman recounted to them the splendor of his wealth and the number of his sons and all the ways that the king had honored him and promoted him above the officials and king's servants.

⁹ And Habrona, one of the eunuchs in the presence of the king, said, "Look, the same gallows that Haman had prepared for Mordecai who spoke good for the sake of the king stands at Haman's house, fifty cubits high." And the king said, "Hang him on it."

⁸ Again the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory, ⁹ and he said to him, "I will give to you all these things, if you will fall down and* worship me."

⁷ Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked.

²⁶ For what will a person be benefited if he gains the whole world but forfeits his life? Or what will a person give in exchange for his life?

³⁸ Balaam said to Balak, "Look, I came to you now. Am I really able to speak anything at all? I speak the word that God puts in my mouth."

²⁶ But Balaam answered and said to Balak, "Did I not speak to you, saying, 'Whatever Yahweh speaks I will do'?"

¹³ 'If Balak gave to me the fullness of his house full of silver and gold, I am not able to go beyond _⌊the command of Yahweh_⌋* to do good or evil, from my heart; what Yahweh speaks, I will speak'?*

¹⁴ Then Micaiah said, "_⌊As Yahweh lives_⌋,* surely only as Yahweh speaks to me, that will I speak."

¹³ But Micaiah said, "As Yahweh lives, only what my God has said, that will I speak."

¹⁷ Then Daniel answered and said before the king, "Let your gifts be for yourself or your rewards give to another; nevertheless, I will read the writing to the king and I will make known to him the explanation.*

²⁰ But Peter said to him, "May your silver _⌊be destroyed along with you_⌋,* because you thought _⌊you could acquire_⌋* the gift of God by means of money!

¹⁶ They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny him, because they* are detestable and disobedient, and unfit for every good deed.

³ And in greediness they will exploit you with false words, whose condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

³⁵ The angel of Yahweh said to Balaam, "Go with the men, but speak only the word that I will speak to you." So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

⁵ Yahweh put a word in the mouth of Balaam and said, "Return to Balak, and you must speak thus."

¹⁶ Then Yahweh met with Balaam, and he put a word in his mouth, and he said, "Return to Balak, and you must speak thus."

⁵ They said to him, "Look, you are old and your sons do not follow in your ways. So then appoint a king for us to judge* us, like all the nations. ⁶ But the matter _⌊was displeasing to Samuel_⌋* when they said, "Give us a king to judge* us," so Samuel prayed to Yahweh. ⁷ Then Yahweh said to Samuel, "Listen to the voice of the people concerning all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me from being king over them. ⁸ Like all the deeds they have done from the day I brought them up from Egypt until this day, they have forsaken me and have served other gods—so they are doing to you also. ⁹ And so then, listen to their voice. However, you must earnestly warn them; you must explain to them the custom of the king who will rule over them."

¹² "And when you saw that Nahash, the king of the _⌊Ammonites_⌋,* was coming against you, you said to me, 'No! A king shall reign over us,' although Yahweh your God is your king. ¹³ So then look! Here is the king you have chosen, for whom you have asked! Look, Yahweh has placed a king over you! ¹⁴ If you will fear Yahweh, and serve him, and listen to his voice, and not be rebellious against _⌊what Yahweh says_⌋,* and both you and the king who rules over you will follow after Yahweh your God, all will be well. ¹⁵ But, if you do not listen to the voice of Yahweh, and you rebel against _⌊what Yahweh says_⌋,* then the hand of Yahweh will be against you* as it was against your ancestors.* ¹⁶ So then take your stand again and see this great thing that Yahweh is going to do before your eyes. ¹⁷ Is the wheat harvest not today? I will call out to Yahweh so that he still sends thunder and rain, so that you will know and will see that your wickedness is great that you have done in the eyes of Yahweh by asking for a king for yourselves." ¹⁸ So Samuel called out to Yahweh, and Yahweh brought thunder and rain that same day, so all the people feared Yahweh and Samuel greatly. ¹⁹ Then all the people said to Samuel, "Pray for your servants to Yahweh your God so that we will not die, because we have added to all our sins by requesting a king for ourselves."

¹⁰ Yahweh brings to nothing* the plan of nations; he frustrates* the intents of peoples. ¹¹ The plan of Yahweh stands firm forever, the intents of his heart _⌊from one generation to the next_⌋.*

³⁰ They had not yet turned aside from their craving, while their food was still in their mouth, ³¹ the anger of God rose against them, and he killed some of the stoutest of them, even the young men of Israel he caused to bow down in death.

¹² So I let them* go in the stubbornness of their heart; they walked in their counsels.

²⁹ Because you were enraged _⌊against_⌋* me, and your noise* has come up to* my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my bridle on your lips, and I will turn you back on the way by which you came.

² And the word of Yahweh _⌊came_⌋* to me, _⌊saying_⌋,* ³ "Son of man,* these men took up their idols into their heart and _⌊they placed before themselves_⌋* a stumbling block of their guilt.* _⌊Should I really let myself be consulted by them_⌋?* ⁴ Therefore speak with them, and you must say to them, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Every person from the house of Israel who brings up his idols into his heart and _⌊places before himself_⌋* a stumbling block of his guilt* and yet he comes to the prophet, I Yahweh, I will respond to him through this act* with respect to the multitude* of his idols, ⁵ so that I may take hold of the house of Israel by their heart, those who are estranged from me, all of them, through their idols.'

¹¹ I gave you a king in my anger, and I took him in my wrath.

⁹ whose coming is in accordance with the working of Satan, with all power and signs and lying wonders, ¹⁰ and with every unrighteous deception against those who are perishing, in place of which they did not accept the love of the truth, so that they would be saved. ¹¹ And because of this, God sends them _⌊a powerful delusion_⌋* so that they will believe the lie, ¹² in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth, but delighted in unrighteousness.

¹⁵ My child, do not walk in their way.* Keep your foot from their paths, ¹⁶ for their feet run to evil, and they hurry to shed blood,

¹⁵ And he blessed Joseph and said,
"The God before whom my fathers, Abraham and Isaac, walked, The God who shepherded me _⌊all my life_⌋* unto this day, ¹⁶ The angel who redeemed me from all evil, may he bless the boys. And through them let my name be perpetuated,* and the name of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac. And let them multiply into many in the midst of the earth.

² And the angel of Yahweh appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush, and he looked, and there was the bush burning with fire, but the bush was not being consumed. ³ And Moses said, "Let me turn aside and see this great sight. Why does the bush not burn up?" ⁴ And Yahweh saw that he turned aside to see, and God called to him from the midst of the bush, and he said, "Moses, Moses." And he said, "Here I am." ⁵ And he said, "You must not come near to here. Take off your sandals from on your feet, because the place on which you are standing, it is holy ground." ⁶ And he said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." And Moses hid his face because he was afraid of looking at God.

²⁴ _⌊And_⌋* on the way, at the place of overnight lodging, Yahweh encountered him and sought to kill him.

²⁰ " 'Look, I am about to send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared.

³² The angel of Yahweh said to him, "Why have you struck this donkey three times? Look, I have come out as an adversary because your conduct is perverse before me.

²⁰ Then Jehu said, "Sanctify a solemn assembly for Baal!" So they proclaimed it.

⁴ He has bent his bow like an enemy; he has set his right hand like a foe, and he has slain all the treasures of the eye;* in the tent of the daughter of Zion, he has poured out his anger like fire.

⁴ And Yahweh said to him, "_⌊Name him_⌋* Jezreel;* because in a little while _⌊I will punish_⌋* the house of Jehu* for the blood* of Jezreel,* and I will put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel.*

⁴ He struggled with the angel and prevailed; he pleaded for his mercy. He met him at Bethel, and there he spoke with him.* ⁵ Yahweh the God of hosts, Yahweh is his renowned name!

¹⁷ Then Elisha prayed and said, "O Yahweh, please open his eyes that he may see," and Yahweh opened the eyes of the servant, and he saw, and look, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

¹⁶ And David lifted his eyes and saw the angel of Yahweh standing between earth and heaven, with his sword drawn in his hand, stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.

⁷ Even the stork in heaven knows its appointed time, and the turtledove, and the swallow, and the song bird, they observe the time of their coming. But my people do not know the ordinance* of Yahweh.

⁷ And I saw, I, Daniel _⌊alone_⌋,* the vision; and the people who were with me _⌊did not see_⌋* the vision; nevertheless, a great trembling fell upon them and they fled in order to hide themselves.

⁹ (Now those who were with me saw the light but did not hear the voice of the one who was speaking to me.)

²⁷ But the foolish things of the world God chose in order that he might put to shame the wise, and the weak things of the world God chose in order that he might put to shame the strong, ²⁸ and the insignificant of the world, and the despised, God chose, the things that are not, in order that he might abolish the things that are, ²⁹ so that all flesh may not boast before God.

¹⁶ but received a rebuke for his own lawlessness: a speechless donkey, speaking with a human voice, restrained _⌊the prophet's madness_⌋*.

¹³ He is capturing the wise in their craftiness, and the schemes of the wily are rushed. ¹⁴ In the daytime they meet with darkness, and they grope at noon* as in the night. ¹⁵ And* he saves from the sword of* their mouth, _⌊even_⌋* the poor from the hand of the strong.

¹² Stand, now, in your enchantments, and in your many sorceries with which you have labored from your youth. Perhaps you may be able to benefit; perhaps you may _⌊scare away_⌋.*

¹¹ Yahweh, though your hand reaches high, they do not see it.
Let them see, and let them be ashamed of the zeal of people. Indeed, let the fire of your enemies consume them.

⁶ Therefore, Look! I am going to hedge her path* _⌊with thorns_⌋,* and I will build a stone wall, a stone wall against her, and she will not find her paths.

¹⁶ The wise is cautious and turns from evil, but the fool throws off restraint and is confident.

³ Heavy is a stone and weighty is sand, but the provocation of a fool is heavier than both of them. ⁴ Cruel is wrath and overwhelming is anger, but who will stand before jealousy?

¹⁹ Understand this, my dear brothers: every person must be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger,

¹¹ And Yahweh said to him, "Who gave a mouth to humankind, or who makes mute or deaf or sighted or blind? Is it not I, Yahweh?

³⁷ For _⌊nothing will be impossible with God_⌋."*

²² For we know that the whole creation groans together and suffers agony together until now.

¹⁹ For it is written,
"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the intelligence of the intelligent I will confound."*

¹⁰ The righteous knows the life* of his animal, but the compassion* of the wicked is cruel.

¹⁶ As for a fool, _⌊on that very day_⌋* he makes his anger known, but he who ignores an insult is prudent.

³ This is the _⌊injustice_⌋* that is done under the sun: the same fate comes to everyone. Also the hearts of _⌊humans_⌋* are full of evil; delusion is in their hearts during their lives, and then they die.

¹⁹ For from the heart come evil plans, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, abusive speech.

²⁷ But the foolish things of the world God chose in order that he might put to shame the wise, and the weak things of the world God chose in order that he might put to shame the strong, ²⁸ and the insignificant of the world, and the despised, God chose, the things that are not, in order that he might abolish the things that are,

¹⁹ And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. And she went and filled the skin with water and gave a drink to the boy.

⁸ And Moses hurried and knelt down to the earth and worshiped.

⁴ the declaration of the hearer of God's words,* who sees the revelation of Shaddai,* falling down but whose eyes are uncovered.

¹⁶ the declaration of the hearer of God's words,* and the knower of the knowledge of the Most High, who sees the vision of Shaddai,* who is falling, and his eyes are revealed.

¹⁷ Then Elisha prayed and said, "O Yahweh, please open his eyes that he may see," and Yahweh opened the eyes of the servant, and he saw, and look, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. ¹⁸ They came down to him, and Elisha prayed to Yahweh and said, "Please strike this people with blindness," so he struck them with blindness as _⌊Elisha had spoken_⌋.* ¹⁹ Then Elisha said to them, "This is not the way and this is not the city. Come after me, and I will bring you to the man whom you seek." Then he brought them to Samaria. ²⁰ It happened at the moment they came to Samaria, Elisha said, "O Yahweh, open the eyes of these that they may see," so Yahweh opened their eyes, and they saw, and look, the middle of Samaria!

²⁰ O Yahweh, put them in fear. Let the nations know they are merely human. Selah

¹⁶ but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him.

³¹ And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him, and he became invisible to them.

⁶ So when he said to them, "I am he,"* _⌊they drew back_⌋* and fell to the ground.

¹⁸ to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'

²² But _⌊God became angry_⌋* because he was going, and the angel of Yahweh stood in the road as an adversary to him; he was riding on his donkey, and two servants were with him.

²⁸ Yahweh opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, "What did I do to you that you struck me these three times?"

⁴ "You shall not muzzle an ox _⌊when he is threshing_⌋.*

⁶ Your righteousness is _⌊like the mighty mountains_⌋,* your judgments like the great deep. You save man and beast, O Yahweh.

⁹ Yahweh is good to all, and his mercies are over all his works.

⁹ He gives to the animal its food, and to the young ravens that cry.

² He who walks in uprightness fears Yahweh, but he who is devious in his ways displeases him.

⁶ Better to be poor and walking in one's integrity than to be crooked of ways when one is rich.

¹⁸ He who walks in integrity will be safe, but he who takes crooked paths will fall in one.

¹¹ And should I not be concerned about Nineveh, the great city, _⌊in which there are_⌋* more _⌊than one hundred and twenty thousand_⌋* people who do not know right from left,* plus many animals?"

¹⁰ and* said, "O you who are full of all deceit and of all unscrupulousness, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness! Will you not stop making crooked the straight paths of the Lord!

¹⁴ having eyes full of desire for an adulteress and unceasing from sin, enticing unstable persons, and* having hearts trained for greediness. Accursed children! ¹⁵ By* leaving the straight path, they have gone astray, because they* followed the way of Balaam the son of Bosor,* who loved the wages of unrighteousness,

³⁷ the men who spread the evil report of the land died by the plague _⌊before Yahweh_⌋.*

³³ They went down alive to Sheol, they and all that belonged to them, and the land covered over them, and they perished from the midst of the assembly. ³⁴ All Israel who were around them fled at their cry, because they said, "Lest the land swallow us up!" ³⁵ And fire went out from Yahweh, and it consumed the two hundred and fifty men presenting the incense.

²⁴ When he left, a lion found him on the road and killed him, and his dead body was thrown on the road with the donkey standing beside it, and the lion was standing by the dead body. ²⁵ As men were passing by and they saw the dead body thrown in the road and the lion standing beside the dead body, they came and told it in the city where the old prophet was living. ²⁶ When the prophet who had brought him back from the way heard, he said, "It is the man of God who disobeyed the mouth of Yahweh, and Yahweh has given him to the lion. He tore him in pieces and killed him according to the word of Yahweh which he had spoken to him." ²⁷ Then he spoke to his sons, saying, "Saddle the donkey for me." So they saddled it. ²⁸ He went and found his dead body thrown in the road and a donkey with the lion standing beside it, but the lion had not eaten the corpse nor attacked the donkey.

²⁷ And Pharaoh sent and called Moses and Aaron and said to them, "I have sinned this time. Yahweh is the righteous one, and I and my people are the wicked ones.

¹⁶ And Pharaoh hurried to call Moses and Aaron, and he said, "I have sinned against Yahweh your God and against you. ¹⁷ And now forgive my sin surely this time, and pray to Yahweh your God so that he may only remove from me this death."

¹ And it happened, the people were like those who _⌊complain of hardship_⌋* _⌊in the hearing_⌋* of Yahweh, and Yahweh _⌊became angry_⌋,* and the fire of Yahweh burned among them, and it consumed the edge of the camp.

⁴⁰ They rose early in the morning and went to the top of the mount, saying, "Here we are. We will go up to the place that Yahweh said, because we have sinned."

²⁴ Then Saul said to Samuel, "I have sinned because I have transgressed _⌊the commandment of Yahweh_⌋* and your words, for I feared the troops and I listened to their voice.

³⁰ Then he* said, "I have sinned! Now please honor me before the elders of my people and before Israel, and return with me _⌊so that I can worship_⌋* Yahweh your God."

¹⁷ Then he said to David, "You are more righteous than I, for you have repaid me the good, but I have repaid you the evil.

²¹ Then Saul said, "I have sinned! Come back, David my son, for I will not harm you again, because my life was precious in your eyes this day. Look, I have acted like a fool and _⌊have made a terrible mistake_⌋."*

¹³ Then David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against Yahweh!"* Nathan said to David, "Yahweh has also forgiven your sin; you shall not die.

⁷ But this word was displeasing in the eyes of God, and he struck Israel.

³¹ "Indeed, does anyone say to God, 'I have endured chastisement; I will not act corruptly again; ³² teach me yourself _⌊what I cannot see_⌋;* if I have done wrong, I will not repeat it'?

³⁴ When he killed some of them, then they sought him, and repented and earnestly sought God.

¹⁸ lest Yahweh see and it be evil in his eyes, and turn his anger away from him.

⁴ saying, "I have sinned by* betraying innocent blood!" But they said, "What is that to us? You see to it!"* ⁵ And throwing the silver coins into the temple he departed. And he went away and* hanged himself.

²⁰ And God came to Balaam at night, and he said to him, "If the men have come to call you, get up and go with them; but only the word that I will speak to you, you will do." ²¹ So Balaam got up in the morning and saddled his donkey, and he went with the princes of Moab.

²⁶ Have you not heard from _⌊a long time ago_⌋?* I have made it from days of primeval time, and I formed it. Now I have brought it about, and it is for fortified cities to collapse into heaps of destroyed stones. ²⁷ And their inhabitants are _⌊weak_⌋;* they are dismayed, and they are ashamed; they have become like plants* of the field, and like greens of grass, like grass on* the roofs and a cultivated field _⌊before_⌋* the standing grain. ²⁸ And I know your sitting down and your going out, and your coming in, and your raging _⌊against_⌋* me. ²⁹ Because you were enraged _⌊against_⌋* me, and your noise* has come up to* my ears, I will put my hook in your nose and my bridle on your lips, and I will turn you back on the way by which you came.

¹⁷ After his return from defeating Kedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the Valley of the King).

² And he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, three men were standing near* him. And he saw them and ran from the doorway of the tent to meet them. And he bowed down to the ground.

²⁹ Then Joseph harnessed his chariot and went up to meet Israel his father in Goshen. He presented himself to him and fell upon his neck and wept upon his neck a long time.

⁷ And Moses went out to meet his father-in-law, and he bowed, and he kissed him, and _⌊they each asked about the other's welfare_⌋,* and they came into the tent.

¹³ From there they set out and encamped beyond Arnon, which is in the desert that goes out from the boundary of the Amorites,* because Arnon is the boundary of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.* ¹⁴ Therefore thus it is said in the scroll of the Wars of Yahweh,
"Waheb in Suphah, and the wadis of Arnon,

²⁴ Arise,* set out and cross over the wadi* of Arnon. Look! I have given Sihon the Amorite, the king of Heshbon, and his land into your hand; begin to take possession of it, and engage with him in battle.

¹⁸ Then they traveled through the wilderness, went around the land of Edom and Moab, and came to _⌊the east_⌋* side of the land of Moab, and they* encamped beyond the Arnon; and they did not go into the territory of Moab because the Arnon was the border of Moab.

¹⁰ _⌊Just as_⌋* he finished offering the burnt sacrifice, Samuel was coming. So Saul went out to meet him and to bless him.

² And this shall be:
like a bird fleeing from a thrust away nest shall be the daughters of Moab at the fords of Arnon.

²⁰ Moab is ashamed, for it is filled with terror. Wail and cry out, tell it by Arnon that Moab is devastated.

¹⁵ And from there the brothers, when they* heard the news about us, came to meet us as far as the Forum of Appius and Three Taverns. When he* saw them, Paul gave thanks to God and* took courage.

¹⁶ They came to Balaam and said to him, "Thus says Balak son of Zippor, 'Please, let nothing keep you from coming to me ¹⁷ because I will surely honor you greatly, and all that you say to me I will do. Please, come; curse this people for me.'"

⁶ For it is not from the east or the west and not from the south* that lifting up comes,

⁶ And the devil said to him, "I will give you all this domain and their glory, because it has been handed over to me, and I can give it to whomever I want.

⁴⁴ How are you able to believe, if you* accept glory from one another, and do not seek the glory which is from the only God?

¹⁸ Balaam answered and said to the servants of Balak, "Even though Balak gives to me his house full of silver and gold, I am not able to go beyond _⌊the command of Yahweh_⌋* my God to do a little or a lot.

¹⁰ Yahweh brings to nothing* the plan of nations; he frustrates* the intents of peoples.

¹⁰ For the anger of humankind will praise you. You will put on the remnant of anger.*

²¹ Many plans are in the heart* of a man, but the purpose of Yahweh will be established.

²⁵ who frustrates* the signs of oracle priests and makes a fool of diviners, who drives the wise men back and makes their knowledge foolish,

¹⁰ who from the beginning declares the end, and from before, things that have not been done, who says, 'My plan shall stand,' and, 'I will accomplish* all my wishes,'*
