⁶² Now on the next day, which is after the day of preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees assembled before Pilate,

¹ Why are nations in tumult, and countries plotting* in vain?* ² The kings of the earth establish themselves, and the rulers conspire* together against Yahweh and his anointed: ³ "Let us tear off their bonds, and cast their cords from us!" ⁴ He who sits enthroned in the heavens laughs. The Lord derides them. ⁵ Then he speaks to them in his wrath, and in his fury he terrifies them: ⁶ "But as for me, I have set my king on Zion, my holy mountain."

¹⁷ Now on the first day* of the feast of Unleavened Bread the disciples came up to Jesus, saying, "Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?"

¹ Now when it* was early morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus in order to put him to death. ² And after* tying him up, they led him* away and handed him* over to Pilate the governor.

⁴² And when it* was already evening, since it was the day of preparation (that is, the day before the Sabbath),

⁵⁴ And it was the day of preparation, and the Sabbath was drawing near. ⁵⁵ And the women who had been accompanying him from Galilee followed and* saw the tomb and how his body was placed. ⁵⁶ And they returned and* prepared fragrant spices and perfumes, and on the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.

¹⁴ (Now it was the day of preparation of the Passover; it was about the sixth hour.) And he said to the Jews, "Behold your king!"

³¹ Then the Jews, because it was the day of preparation, so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was an important day), asked Pilate that their legs could be broken and they could be taken away.

⁴² So there, on account of the day of preparation of the Jews, because the tomb was close by, they buried Jesus.

²⁷ For in truth both Herod and Pontius Pilate, together with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, assembled together in this city against your holy servant Jesus whom you anointed, ²⁸ to do all that your hand and plan* had predestined to take place.
