⁵ _⌊Then when_⌋* the days of the feast had run their course, _⌊Job would send_⌋,* and he would sanctify them. Thus* he would arise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of all of them, because Job thought,* "Perhaps my children have sinned and _⌊cursed_⌋* God in their heart." This is what Job used to do _⌊all the time_⌋.*

⁵ And Yahweh saw that the evil of humankind was great upon the earth, and every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was always* only evil.

²⁰ And Noah built an altar to Yahweh, and he took from all the clean animals and from all the clean birds, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

³ And Abraham rose up early in the morning and saddled his donkey. And he took two of his servants with him, and Isaac his son. And he chopped wood for a burnt offering. And he got up and went to the place which God had told him.

⁵ And he sent young men from the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* and they offered burnt offerings, and they sacrificed sacrifices as fellowship offerings to Yahweh using bulls.

³ If his offering is a burnt offering from the cattle,* then he must present* an unblemished male; he must present it at the door of the tent of assembly for his acceptance _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh. ⁴ " 'He* must lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering and it will be accepted* for him in order to make atonement for him. ⁵ He* must slaughter _⌊the young bull_⌋* _⌊before_⌋* Yahweh, then* Aaron's sons, the priests, will present the blood and sprinkle the blood all around the altar that is at the door of the tent of assembly. ⁶ Then* he must remove the skin of the burnt offering and cut it into its pieces.

¹⁰ And an Israelite woman's son, and he was an Egyptian man's son, went out in the midst of the _⌊Israelites_⌋;* and the Israelite woman's son and an* Israelite man fought in the camp. ¹¹ Then* the Israelite woman's son blasphemed the name, and he cursed, so* they brought him to Moses—and the name of his mother was Shelomith the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan. ¹² Then* they put him in custody _⌊so that_⌋* the matter might be made clear to them in accordance with the mouth of Yahweh. ¹³ Then* Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, ¹⁴ "Bring the curser _⌊outside the camp_⌋,* and all the hearers shall place their hands on his head, and the whole community shall stone him. ¹⁵ And you shall speak to the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* saying, '_⌊Any man_⌋* when he curses his God shall bear* his sin. ¹⁶ And he who blasphemes Yahweh's name certainly shall be put to death; the whole community certainly shall stone him. As the alien, so the native shall be put to death at blaspheming his name.

⁵ He said, "I come in peace. I have come to sacrifice to Yahweh. Sanctify yourselves and come with me to the sacrifice." So he sanctified Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.

³¹ Elijah took twelve stones according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of God came, saying, "Israel shall be your name."

¹⁰ Seat two men, _⌊scoundrels_⌋,* opposite him. Let them witness against him saying, 'You cursed God and the king.' Then you shall bring him out and stone him so that he dies."

¹³ Then the two men, _⌊scoundrels_⌋,* came, sat opposite him, and the _⌊scoundrels_⌋* witnessed against Naboth before the people, saying, "Naboth cursed God and the king," so they brought him outside of the city and stoned him with stones, and he died.

³⁰ And the priests and the Levites purified themselves and purified the people, the gates, and the wall.

¹¹ But,* on the other hand, stretch out* your hand and touch _⌊all that belongs to him_⌋* and see _⌊whether_⌋* he will _⌊curse_⌋* you to your face."

⁹ Then* his wife said to him, "Are you still persisting in your blamelessness? _⌊Curse_⌋* God and die."

⁴ If your children sinned against him, then* he sent them into the _⌊power_⌋* of their transgression.

¹⁰ Or, in Shaddai will he find delight? Will he call upon God at all times?

²⁵ _⌊When it raises itself_⌋,* the mighty ones are terrified; they retreat because of its thrashing.

⁸ _⌊So then_⌋,* take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, and go to my servant Job and offer a burnt offering for yourselves. And my servant Job will pray for you,* for _⌊I will certainly accept his prayer_⌋,* so that it will not be done with you* according to your folly, for you* have not spoken to me what is right as my servant Job has."

³ O Yahweh, in the morning you will hear my voice. In the morning I will set forth* my case to you and I will watch.*

¹⁰ Whatever your hand finds to do—do it with all your might; for in Sheol—where you are going—no one works, plans, knows, or thinks about anything.

¹⁴ Cleanse your heart from wickedness, O Jerusalem, so that you may be saved. _⌊How long_⌋* will your thoughts of mischief dwell in your inner part?

⁹ The heart is deceitful more than anything else, and it is disastrous. Who can understand it? ¹⁰ I, Yahweh, examine the _⌊mind_⌋,* I test the _⌊heart_⌋,* and give to each one according to his way, according to the fruit of his deeds.

²¹ For from within, from the heart of people, come evil plans, sexual immoralities, thefts, murders, ²² adulteries, acts of greed, malicious deeds, deceit, licentiousness, _⌊envy_⌋,* abusive speech, pride, foolishness. ²³ All these evil things come from within and defile a person."

⁷⁵ in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

⁷ And will not God surely _⌊see to it that justice is done_⌋* to his chosen ones who cry out to him day and night, and will he delay toward them?

⁵⁵ Now the Passover of the Jews was near, and many went up to Jerusalem from the surrounding country before the Passover, so that they could purify themselves.

²² Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and ask the Lord if perhaps the intent of your heart may be forgiven you!"

²⁶ Then Paul took along the men on the next day, and* after he* had purified himself together with them, he entered into the temple courts,* announcing the completion of the days of purification until _⌊the time_⌋* the offering would be presented on behalf of each one of them.

⁵ Therefore do not judge anything before the time, until the Lord should come, who will both enlighten the hidden things of darkness and will reveal the counsels of hearts, and then praise will come to each one from God.

² For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy, because I promised you in marriage to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ.

¹⁸ with all prayer and supplication praying at all times in the Spirit, and to this end being alert with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints,
