⁷ I will mention the loyal love of Yahweh, the praises of Yahweh, according to all that Yahweh has done for us, and the greatness of goodness to the house of Israel that he has done to them according to his mercy and the abundance of his loyal love.

⁶ And Yahweh passed over before him, and he proclaimed, "Yahweh, Yahweh, God, who is compassionate and gracious, _⌊slow to anger_⌋,* and abounding with* loyal love and faithfulness, ⁷ keeping loyal love to the thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and he does not leave utterly unpunished, punishing the guilt of fathers on sons and on sons of sons on third and fourth generations."

¹⁸ 'Yahweh is _⌊slow to anger_⌋* and great of loyal love, _⌊forgiving_⌋* sin and rebellion; but surely he leaves nothing unpunished, visiting the sin of the fathers on the sons to the third and fourth generations.' ¹⁹ Please forgive the sin of this people according to the greatness of your loyal love, just as you _⌊forgave_⌋* this people, from Egypt until now."

⁶⁶ On the eighth day, he sent the people away, and they blessed the king, and they went to their tents rejoicing and _⌊in good spirits_⌋* because of all the goodness that Yahweh had shown to David his servant and to Israel his people.

¹⁰ And on the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people away to their tents rejoicing and festive of heart on account of the goodness that Yahweh had done for David, Solomon, and Israel his people.

⁷ You are Yahweh, the God who chose Abram and brought him from Ur of the Chaldeans and named him Abraham. ⁸ You found his heart faithful before you and made a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite and the Girgashite—to give it to his seed. And you have kept your word because you are righteous. ⁹ "You saw the misery of our ancestors* in Egypt, and you heard their shout at the Red Sea. ¹⁰ You gave signs and wonders against Pharaoh, all of his servants, and all of the people of his land because you knew that they acted arrogantly against them. You made a name for yourself, as it is this day. ¹¹ And you divided the sea before them, and they passed through the sea on dry ground, but their pursuers you threw into the depths like a stone into mighty waters. ¹² You led them by day with a column of cloud and with a column of fire by night, to give them light on the way that they were to go. ¹³ Then you came down on Mount Sinai and spoke with them from heaven and gave them right judgments and true teachings, good regulations and commandments. ¹⁴ You made known your holy Sabbath to them and gave them commandments, regulations, and law* by the hand of your servant Moses. ¹⁵ You gave them bread from heaven for their starvation, and you caused water to go out from a rock for their thirst. You told them to go in order to take into possession the land that you have sworn by your hand to give to them.

¹⁹ But you in your many mercies did not abandon them in the desert. The column of cloud that was over them in the day did not cease to leave them on the way, and the column of fire by night that gave light to them on the way that they went. ²⁰ And you gave your good Spirit to instruct them and did not withhold your manna from their mouth and gave them water for their thirst. ²¹ Forty years you sustained them in the desert—they were not in need. Their clothing did not wear out and their feet did not swell.

²⁵ And they captured fortified cities and a fertile land and took possession of houses filled with every good thing: hewn cisterns, vineyards, olive groves, and many fruit trees. They ate and became full, and they became fat and took delight in your great goodness.

²⁷ Therefore you gave them into the hand of their enemy, and they brought trouble to them. Then in the time of their trouble they cried out to you, and you heard from the heavens, and according to your great compassions, you gave them saviors, and you saved them from the hand of their enemies.

³¹ But in your great compassions you did not put an end to them, and you did not abandon them. For you are a gracious and compassionate God.

³⁵ And in their kingdom and in the greatness you gave to them, and in the wide and fertile land that you gave before them, they did not serve you and did not turn from their evil deeds.

Be gracious to me, O God, according to your loyal love. According to your abundant mercies, blot out my transgressions.

³ Because your loyal love is better than life, my lips will praise you.

¹¹ They also forgot his deeds, and his wonders that he had shown them. ¹² In front of their ancestors* he did a wonder, in the land of Egypt, in the region of Zoan. ¹³ He split the sea and caused them to go over, and he caused waters to stand like a heap. ¹⁴ And he led them with the cloud by day, and all night with a fiery light. ¹⁵ He caused rocks to split in the wilderness and provided drink abundantly as from the depths. ¹⁶ And he brought streams out of the rock and caused water to flow down like rivers. ¹⁷ But they sinned still further against him by rebelling against the Most High in the desert. ¹⁸ And they tested God in their heart by asking food _⌊for their craving_⌋.* ¹⁹ And they spoke against God. They said, "Is God able to prepare a table in the wilderness? ²⁰ Yes, he struck the rock and water flowed and streams gushed out, but can he also give food or provide meat for his people?" ²¹ Therefore Yahweh heard and he was very angry, and a fire was kindled against Jacob, and his anger also rose up against Israel, ²² because they did not believe God, and they did not trust his salvation. ²³ Nevertheless, he commanded the skies above and opened the doors of heaven, ²⁴ and rained down on them manna to eat and gave them the grain of heaven. ²⁵ Humankind ate the bread of _⌊angels_⌋.* He sent them food enough to be satisfied. ²⁶ He caused the east wind to blow in the heavens and drove along the south wind by his strength. ²⁷ Then he rained meat on them like dust, even winged birds* like the sand of the seas. ²⁸ He caused them to fall in the midst of his camp, all around his dwellings. ²⁹ So they ate and were well filled, and he brought about what they craved. ³⁰ They had not yet turned aside from their craving, while their food was still in their mouth, ³¹ the anger of God rose against them, and he killed some of the stoutest of them, even the young men of Israel he caused to bow down in death. ³² In spite of all this they sinned further and did not believe his wonders. ³³ And he consumed their days with futility * their years with terror.* ³⁴ When he killed some of them, then they sought him, and repented and earnestly sought God. ³⁵ And they remembered that God was their rock, and God Most High their redeemer. ³⁶ But they enticed him with their mouth and lied to him with their tongue. ³⁷ For their heart was not steadfast with him, nor were they faithful to his covenant. ³⁸ But he was compassionate; he pardoned* their guilt and did not destroy them. And many times he turned back his anger and did not stir up all his wrath, ³⁹ for he remembered that they were flesh, a passing wind that does not return. ⁴⁰ How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness and vexed him in the wasteland! ⁴¹ So they again tested God and distressed* the Holy One of Israel. ⁴² And they did not remember his _⌊power_⌋* _⌊when_⌋* he redeemed them from the enemy, ⁴³ how he performed* his signs in Egypt and his wonders in the region of Zoan, ⁴⁴ when he turned their rivers* to blood so they could not drink from their streams. ⁴⁵ He sent among them flies that devoured them and frogs that destroyed them. ⁴⁶ And he gave their crop to the locusts and their labor to the locust.* ⁴⁷ He destroyed their vines with hail and their sycamore trees with sleet.* ⁴⁸ He also handed their cattle over to the hail and their livestock to the lightning bolts. ⁴⁹ He sent against them his fierce anger, rage and indignation and trouble, a band of _⌊destroying_⌋* angels. ⁵⁰ He cleared a path for his anger. He did not spare them* from death but handed their life over to the plague. ⁵¹ And he struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, the first of their virility in the tents of Ham. ⁵² Then he led out his people like sheep and guided them like a herd in the wilderness. ⁵³ And he led them safely and they were not afraid, but the sea covered their enemies. ⁵⁴ So he brought them to his holy territory,* this mountain his right hand acquired.* ⁵⁵ And he drove out nations before them and allocated them for an inheritance by boundary line, and settled the tribes of Israel in their tents. ⁵⁶ But they tested and rebelled against God Most High and did not keep his statutes. ⁵⁷ And they turned and were treacherous like their ancestors.* They twisted like a crooked* bow. ⁵⁸ For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and made him jealous with their images. ⁵⁹ God heard and he was very angry and rejected Israel utterly. ⁶⁰ So he abandoned the dwelling place at Shiloh, the tent he had placed among humankind. ⁶¹ And he gave his strength into captivity and his splendor into the hand of the enemy. ⁶² He also handed his people over to the sword, and he was very angry with his inheritance. ⁶³ Fire devoured his young men, and his young women* were not praised. ⁶⁴ His priests fell by the sword, and his widows did not weep. ⁶⁵ Then the Lord awoke like one who had been asleep, awoke like a warrior who had been drunk with wine.* ⁶⁶ And he beat back his enemies; he gave them over to perpetual scorn. ⁶⁷ And he rejected the tent of Joseph, and did not chose the tribe of Ephraim, ⁶⁸ but chose the tribe of Judah, _⌊Mount Zion_⌋* that he loved. ⁶⁹ And he built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth that he established forever. ⁷⁰ And he chose David his servant and took him from the sheepfolds. ⁷¹ He brought him from following nursing ewes to shepherd Jacob, his people, and Israel, his inheritance. ⁷² And he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and led them by the skillfulness of his hands.

⁵ For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, and abundant in loyal love* for all who call to you.

¹⁵ But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, _⌊slow to anger_⌋* and abundant in loyal love and faithfulness.

⁵ Remember his wonders that he has done, his signs and the judgments of his mouth, ⁶ O offspring of Abraham his servant, you descendants* of Jacob, his chosen ones. ⁷ He is Yahweh our God; his judgments are in all the earth. ⁸ He remembers his covenant forever, the word that he commanded for a thousand generations, ⁹ that he made with Abraham, and by his oath swore to Isaac. ¹⁰ He then confirmed it to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant, ¹¹ saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan as the allotment that is your* inheritance." ¹² When they were _⌊few in number_⌋*— a trifle—and were sojourners in it, ¹³ and they wandered about _⌊among the nations_⌋,* from one kingdom to another people, ¹⁴ he allowed no one to oppress them, and he rebuked kings on account of them, ¹⁵ "Do not touch my anointed ones, nor harm my prophets." ¹⁶ Then he called for a famine upon the land; he broke every _⌊supply_⌋* of bread. ¹⁷ He sent a man on ahead of them; Joseph was sold as a slave. ¹⁸ They clamped* his feet in fetters.* His neck* went into irons.* ¹⁹ Until the time his word came about, the word of Yahweh tested* him. ²⁰ The king sent and he freed him; the ruler of the peoples sent and let him loose. ²¹ He made him lord of his house and ruler of all his possessions, ²² to obligate* his officials _⌊as he saw fit_⌋* and teach his elders wisdom. ²³ Then Israel came to Egypt, and Jacob was a sojourner in the land of Ham. ²⁴ And he* made his people very fruitful. He also made them* stronger than their* enemies. ²⁵ He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal deceitfully against his servants. ²⁶ He sent his servant Moses, together with Aaron whom he had chosen. ²⁷ They set before them the words concerning his signs and portents in the land of Ham. ²⁸ He sent darkness and made it dark, and they did not rebel against his words. ²⁹ He turned their waters into blood and it killed their fish. ³⁰ Their land swarmed with frogs, even in the chambers of their kings. ³¹ He spoke, and there came flies and gnats throughout all their territory.* ³² He gave hail for their rains and the fire of lightning in their land. ³³ And he struck their vines and fig trees, and shattered the trees of their territory. ³⁴ He spoke and there came locusts and young locusts without number. ³⁵ And they ate up all the vegetation in their land, and they ate up the fruit of their ground. ³⁶ And he struck down all the firstborn in their land, the first of all their virility. ³⁷ Then he brought them out with silver and gold, and there was none among his tribes who stumbled. ³⁸ Egypt was glad when they departed, because the fear of them* had fallen upon them. ³⁹ He spread out a cloud for a covering, and fire to give light at night. ⁴⁰ They* asked, and he brought quail, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven. ⁴¹ He opened the rock and waters flowed; they coursed* through the dry places like a river. ⁴² For he remembered his holy _⌊promise_⌋;* he remembered Abraham his servant. ⁴³ And so he brought out his people with joy, his chosen ones with rejoicing. ⁴⁴ And he gave to them the lands of the nations, and they inherited the labor of the peoples, ⁴⁵ so that they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise Yah.*

¹⁹ He declares his word to Jacob, his statutes and his ordinances to Israel. ²⁰ He has not done so for any nation, and they do not know his ordinances. Praise Yah.*

⁸ But* you, Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you, the _⌊offspring_⌋* of Abraham my _⌊friend_⌋,* ⁹ you whom I grasped from the ends of the earth and called from its remotest parts and told, "You are my servant; I have chosen you and I have not rejected you."

² Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah; she brought you forth. For I called him _⌊alone_⌋,* but* I blessed him and made him numerous."

⁸ I hid my face from you for a moment, in the flowing of anger, but* I will have compassion on you with everlasting faithfulness" says your redeemer, Yahweh.

⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the man of sin his thoughts. And let him return to Yahweh, that* he may take pity on him, and to our God, for he will _⌊forgive manifold_⌋.*

³² For even though he causes grief he has compassion according to the greatness of his royal love.

⁶ " 'And I passed by you, and I saw you kicking about in your blood, and I said to you in your blood, "Live! ⁷ Grow up;* I will make you like a plant of the field." And you grew up, and you became tall and _⌊reached full womanhood_⌋.* Your breasts were formed, and your hair had grown, but you were naked and bare. ⁸ " 'And I passed by you, and I saw you, and look, _⌊your time of lovemaking had come_⌋,* and so I spread out my hem over you, and I covered your nakedness, and I swore to you, and I entered into* a covenant with you,' _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh, 'and _⌊you became mine_⌋.* ⁹ And I washed you with water, and I rinsed off your blood from on you, and I anointed you with oil. ¹⁰ And I clothed you with beautiful finished cloth, and I put sandals on you of fine leather, and I bound you in fine linen, and I covered you with costly fabric. ¹¹ And I adorned you with ornaments,* and I put a bracelet on your arms and a necklace on your neck. ¹² And I put an ornamental ring on your nose and earrings on your ears and a _⌊beautiful crown_⌋* on your head. ¹³ And you adorned yourself with gold and silver, and your clothing was fine linen and costly fabric and beautiful finished cloth; you ate finely milled flour and honey and olive oil, and you became exceedingly beautiful; _⌊you were fit to be a queen_⌋.* ¹⁴ And a name went out for you among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect because of my majesty that I bestowed on you,' _⌊declares_⌋* the Lord Yahweh.

¹⁹ And I will take you as my wife forever; I will take you as a wife for myself in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy.

¹⁷ For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! Grain will make the young men thrive, and new wine the young women.

⁴ Or do you despise the wealth of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

²⁰ Now the law came in as a side issue, in order that the trespass could increase, but where sin increased, grace was present in greater abundance,

⁶ to the praise of the glory of his grace that he bestowed on us in the beloved, ⁷ in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace,

⁴ But God, being rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us,

¹⁴ and the grace of our Lord abounded with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

⁴ But when the kindness and love for mankind of God our Savior appeared, ⁵ he saved us, not by deeds of righteousness that we have done, but because of his mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit, ⁶ whom he poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, ⁷ so that, having been justified by his grace, we may become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
