¹⁰ The princes of Judah have become like those who remove a landmark; on them I will pour out my wrath like water.

¹⁴ "You shall not move the boundary marker of your neighbor that _⌊former generations_⌋* set up on your property in the land that Yahweh your God is giving to you to take possession of it.

¹⁷ 'Cursed be the one who moves the boundary marker of his neighbor.' And all the people shall say, 'Amen.'

⁷ Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria, saying, "I am your servant and your son. Come up and rescue me from the hand of the king of Aram and from the hand of the king of Israel who are rising up against me." ⁸ Ahaz took the silver and gold found in the house of Yahweh and in the treasury rooms of the palace of the king, and he sent a gift to the king of Assyria. ⁹ So the king of Assyria listened to him and he went up to Damascus and captured it and deported them to Kir. He also killed Rezin.

¹⁶ At that time King Ahaz sent to the king of Assyria to help him, ¹⁷ since again the Edomites came and struck against Judah and took captives. ¹⁸ And the Philistines sent raids into the cities of the Shephelah and the Negeb of Judah. And they captured Beth-Shemesh, Aijalon, Gederoth, Socoh with its villages, Timnah with its villages, and Gimzo with its villages. And they settled there. ¹⁹ For Yahweh subdued Judah for the sake of Ahaz, king of Israel, for he created disorder in Judah and acted unfaithfully against Yahweh. ²⁰ Then Tiglath-Pileser* the king of Assyria came against him and brought trouble for him, _⌊instead of helping him_⌋,* ²¹ for Ahaz took a portion from the house of Yahweh and the house of the king and the princes, and he gave it to the king of Assyria, but it was no help to him. ²² And in the time of his distress, King Ahaz continued to act unfaithfully against Yahweh.

⁶ Therefore let all the faithful pray to you at the time for finding you. Surely at the flood of many waters they will not reach him.

¹⁷ They surround me like water all the day; they circle about me altogether.

³ The rivers have lifted up, O Yahweh; the rivers have lifted up their _⌊rumbling_⌋;* the rivers have lifted up their pounding. ⁴ Mightier than the rumblings of many waters, mightier than the mighty breakers of the sea, Yahweh on high is mighty.

¹⁴ Like the release of water is the beginning of strife; before it breaks out, stop the quarrel.

²⁸ Do not remove an ancient boundary marker which your ancestors* made.

⁸ _⌊Soon_⌋* I will pour out my rage on you, and I will fully vent my anger on you, and I will judge you according to your ways, and I will bring on you all of your detestable things.

²⁷ And the rain came down and the rivers came and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it collapsed, and its fall was great."

⁴⁹ But the one who hears my words* and does not do them* is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation, which the river burst against, and immediately it collapsed—and the collapse of that house was great!"
