¹ For everything there is an appointed time, a time for every matter under heaven:

²⁶ Then he said to him, "Did not my heart go with you as the man turned from on his chariot to meet you? Is it time to take silver, clothes, olive orchards, vineyards, sheep, oxen, male slaves, and female slaves?

¹² And when he was in distress he entreated Yahweh his God and greatly humbled himself before the God of his ancestors*

²³ Joy belongs to a man with answers in his mouth, and a word in its time, how good it is!

¹³ I applied my mind to seek and to search by wisdom all that is done under the heavens.* It is a grievous task God has given to _⌊humans_⌋.*

³ I also _⌊explored_⌋* _⌊the effects of indulging my flesh_⌋* with wine. My mind guiding me with wisdom, _⌊I investigated_⌋* folly so that I might discover what is good under heaven* for _⌊humans_⌋* to do _⌊during the days of their lives_⌋.*

¹⁷ So I hated life because the work done under the sun is grievous to me. For everything is vanity and chasing wind!

¹⁷ So I said _⌊to myself_⌋,* "God will surely judge the righteous and the wicked, for he has appointed* a time of judgment for every deed and every work."

¹⁴ In the day of prosperity, rejoice! But in the day of adversity, consider! For God made one in place of another so that mortals cannot find out what will happen _⌊in the future_⌋.*

⁵ Whoever obeys his command will not suffer disaster. The wise mind knows the proper time and the right procedure. ⁶ For there is a proper time and right procedure for every matter, even though the trouble of man weighs heavy upon him.

³ and early in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy weather, because the sky is red and* darkening.' You know how to evaluate correctly the appearance of the sky, but you are not able to evaluate* the signs of the times.
