¹⁵ So all the people went to Gilgal and they made Saul king there before Yahweh in Gilgal. They sacrificed fellowship offerings there before Yahweh. Then Saul rejoiced there greatly along with all the men of Israel.

⁵ And he sent young men from the _⌊Israelites_⌋,* and they offered burnt offerings, and they sacrificed sacrifices as fellowship offerings to Yahweh using bulls.

¹⁹ However, the people refused to listen to the voice of Samuel and they said, "No, but there must be a king over us,

⁸ Then you will go down before me to Gilgal. Look, I am coming down to you to offer burnt offerings _⌊and to make_⌋* fellowship offerings. You must wait seven days until I come to you. Then I will let you know what you should do."

¹⁷ Then Samuel summoned the people to Yahweh at Mizpah,

¹³ So then look! Here is the king you have chosen, for whom you have asked! Look, Yahweh has placed a king over you! ¹⁴ If you will fear Yahweh, and serve him, and listen to his voice, and not be rebellious against _⌊what Yahweh says_⌋,* and both you and the king who rules over you will follow after Yahweh your God, all will be well. ¹⁵ But, if you do not listen to the voice of Yahweh, and you rebel against _⌊what Yahweh says_⌋,* then the hand of Yahweh will be against you* as it was against your ancestors.*

¹⁷ Is the wheat harvest not today? I will call out to Yahweh so that he still sends thunder and rain, so that you will know and will see that your wickedness is great that you have done in the eyes of Yahweh by asking for a king for yourselves."

²¹ And they offered sacrifices to Yahweh, and on that next day they offered burnt offerings to Yahweh: one thousand bulls, one thousand rams, one thousand lambs, with their libations and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel. ²² And they ate and drank before Yahweh on that day with great joy. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and they anointed him commander for Yahweh, and Zadok the priest. ²³ Then Solomon sat upon the throne of Yahweh as king in place of David his father. And he prospered, and all Israel obeyed him. ²⁴ And all the officials and mighty warriors, and also all the sons of King David, _⌊pledged allegiance to_⌋* King Solomon.

¹⁰ Where now is your king that he may save you? Where in all your cities are your judges, of whom you said, "Give to me a king and rulers?" ¹¹ I gave you a king in my anger, and I took him in my wrath.

¹⁶ But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.
