¹² This is my commandment, That you love one another, as I have loved you.

³⁴ A new commandment I give unto you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

¹⁰ Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another;

² And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and has given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.

¹² And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, just as we do toward you:

⁹ But as touching brotherly love you need not that I write unto you: for you yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

³ We are bound to thank God always for you, brothers, as it is suitable, because that your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all toward each other abounds;

²² Seeing you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brothers, see that you love one another with a pure heart fervently:

⁸ Finally, be you all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brothers, be pitiful, be courteous:

⁸ And above all things have fervent love among yourselves: for love shall cover the multitude of sins.

⁷ Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which you had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you have heard from the beginning. ⁸ Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shines. ⁹ He that says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness even until now. ¹⁰ He that loves his brother abides in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.

¹¹ For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. ¹² Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And why slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous. ¹³ Marvel not, my brothers, if the world hate you. ¹⁴ We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brothers. He that loves not his brother abides in death. ¹⁵ Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer: and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. ¹⁶ Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. ¹⁷ But whoever has this world's good, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his insides of compassion from him, how dwells the love of God in him? ¹⁸ My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

²³ And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

²¹ And this commandment have we from him, That he who loves God love his brother also.
