¹ Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.

⁹ But what went you out for to see? A prophet? yes, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

³⁰ For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

¹ Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offenses will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!

⁷ And when the angel which spoke unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

²² And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that fears God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by a holy angel to send for you into his house, and to hear words of you.

¹⁰ Now therefore why tempt you God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

²⁴ For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.

²¹ Are you called being a servant? care not for it: but if you may be made free, use it rather. ²² For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant.

³² Give none offense, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

¹ Stand fast therefore in the liberty with which Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

⁵ Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; ⁶ Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; ⁷ With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: ⁸ Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man does, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

²² Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God; ²³ And whatsoever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; ²⁴ Knowing that of the Lord you shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for you serve the Lord Christ. ²⁵ But he that does wrong shall receive for the wrong which he has done: and there is no respect of persons.

¹⁴ I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

⁵ To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

⁸ Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. ⁹ Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not talking back; ¹⁰ Not stealing, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

¹² Having your conduct honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

¹⁷ Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king. ¹⁸ Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the forward. ¹⁹ For this is thank worthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. ²⁰ For what glory is it, if, when you be buffeted for your faults, you shall take it patiently? but if, when you do well, and suffer for it, you take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

¹⁶ Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conduct in Christ.
