¹³ Happy is the man that finds wisdom, and the man that gets understanding.

¹ And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to test him with hard questions. ² And she came to Jerusalem with a very great caravan, with camels that bore spices, and very much gold, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she spoke with him of all that was in her heart. ³ And Solomon answered her all her questions: there was not anything hid from the king, which he told her not. ⁴ And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon’s wisdom, and the house that he had built, ⁵ And the food of his table, and the seating of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his entryway by which he went up unto the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her. ⁶ And she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in my own land of your acts and of your wisdom. ⁷ However I believed not the words, until I came, and my eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me: your wisdom and prosperity exceeds the fame which I heard. ⁸ Happy are your men, happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you, and that hear your wisdom. ⁹ Blessed be the LORD your God, who delighted in you, to set you on the throne of Israel: because the LORD loved Israel forever, therefore he made you king, to execute justice and righteousness.

²³ So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom. ²⁴ And all the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

⁴ If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hid treasures;

⁵ Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither turn away from the words of my mouth. ⁶ Forsake her not, and she shall preserve you: love her, and she shall keep you. ⁷ Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all your getting get understanding. ⁸ Exalt her, and she shall promote you: she shall bring you to honor, when you do embrace her. ⁹ She shall give to your head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to you.

³² Now therefore hearken unto me, O you children: for blessed are they that keep my ways. ³³ Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. ³⁴ Blessed is the man that hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. ³⁵ For whosoever finds me finds life, and shall obtain favor of the LORD.

¹ A man, having separated himself, seeks his own desire, and rages against all sound wisdom.

¹⁵ Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. ¹⁶ Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. ¹⁷ The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that rules among fools. ¹⁸ Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroys much good.
