⁴² Watch therefore: for you know not what hour your Lord does come.

³⁶ But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

³³ Take you heed, watch and pray: for you know not when the time is. ³⁴ For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. ³⁵ Watch you therefore: for you know not when the Master of the house comes, at evening, or at midnight, or at the cock crowing, or in the morning: ³⁶ Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. ³⁷ And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

³⁵ Let your waists be girded about, and your lamps burning; ³⁶ And you yourselves be like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he comes and knocks, they may open unto him immediately. ³⁷ Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he comes shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to eat, and will come forth and serve them. ³⁸ And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. ³⁹ And this know, that if the owner of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have allowed his house to be broken through. ⁴⁰ Be you therefore ready also: for the Son of man comes at an hour when you think not.

³⁶ Watch therefore, and pray always, that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

¹¹ And this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

¹³ Watch, stand fast in the faith, be men, be strong.

⁶ Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

⁷ But the end of all things is at hand: be therefore sober minded, and watch unto prayer.

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour:

² Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found your works perfect before God. ³ Remember therefore how you have received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore you will not watch, I will come on you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you.

¹⁵ Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
