⁶ A son honors his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is my honor? and if I be a master, where is my fear? says the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And you say, How have we despised your name?

²² And you shall say unto Pharaoh, Thus says the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn: ²³ And I say unto you, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if you refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay your son, even your firstborn.

¹² Honor your father and your mother: that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God gives you.

³ You shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.

¹⁶ Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you; that your days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with you, in the land which the LORD your God gives you.

²⁸ And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer upon my altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of your father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Israel? ²⁹ Why trample you on my sacrifice and on my offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honor your sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chief of all the offerings of Israel my people? ³⁰ Therefore the LORD God of Israel says, I said indeed that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before me forever: but now the LORD says, Be it far from me; for them that honor me I will honor, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

¹¹ There is a generation that curses their father, and does not bless their mother.

¹⁷ The eye that mocks at his father, and despises to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young vultures shall eat it.

² Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD has spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

⁸ But now, O LORD, you are our father; we are the clay, and you our potter; and we all are the work of your hand.

²¹ Yet I had planted you a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then are you turned into the degenerate plant of a wild vine unto me? ²² For though you wash yourself with lye, and use much soap, yet your iniquity is marked before me, says the Lord GOD.

³⁰ An appalling and horrible thing is committed in the land; ³¹ The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their own power; and my people love to have it so: and what will you do in the end?

¹¹ For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, says the LORD.

⁹ They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, in which they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.

²⁶ Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned my holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and the common, neither have they shown difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

⁶ My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you shall be no priest to me: because you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.

¹ Hear you this, O priests; and hearken, you house of Israel; and give you ear, O house of the king; for judgment is for you, because you have been a snare on Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.

⁸ And Ephraim said, Yet I have become rich, I have found myself wealth: in all my labors they shall find no iniquity in me that is sin.

⁸ But you have departed out of the way; you have caused many to stumble at the law; you have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says the LORD of hosts.

¹⁴ Yet you say, Why? Because the LORD has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously: yet is she your companion, and the wife of your covenant. ¹⁵ And did not he make them one? Yet had he the remnant of the spirit. And why one? That he might seek a godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. ¹⁶ For the LORD, the God of Israel, says that he hates putting away: For one covers violence with his garment, says the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that you deal not treacherously. ¹⁷ You have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet you say, How have we wearied him? When you say, Every one that does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delights in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?

⁷ Even from the days of your fathers you have gone away from my ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, says the LORD of hosts. But you say, How shall we return? ⁸ Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed me. But you say, How have we robbed you? In tithes and offerings.

¹³ Your words have been strong against me, says the LORD. Yet you say, What have we spoken so much against you? ¹⁴ You have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked in mourning before the LORD of hosts?

⁹ After this manner therefore pray: Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.

¹⁴ For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: ¹⁵ But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

²¹ Not every one that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

⁴ For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother: and, He that curses father or mother, let him die the death.

⁶ And honors not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have you made the commandment of God void by your tradition.

¹⁹ Honor your father and your mother: and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

¹⁰ For Moses said, Honor your father and your mother; and, Whoever curses father or mother, let him die the death:

¹⁹ You know the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honor your father and mother.

³⁶ Be you therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

⁴⁶ And why call me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

²⁹ But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?

²⁰ You know the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and your mother.

¹³ You call me Teacher and Lord: and you say rightly; for so I am. ¹⁴ If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another's feet. ¹⁵ For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. ¹⁶ Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. ¹⁷ If you know these things, happy are you if you do them.

² Honor your father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;

¹ Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. ² And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are believers and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.

⁹ Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not talking back; ¹⁰ Not pilfering, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.

¹⁷ And if you call on the Father, who without respect of persons judges according to every man's work, pass the time of your exile here in fear:

¹⁷ Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king. ¹⁸ Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the harsh. ¹⁹ For this is commendable, if a man for conscience toward God endures grief, suffering wrongfully.
