⁷ Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

¹⁷ And unto Adam he said, Because you have listened unto the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat of it: cursed is the ground for your sake; in sorrow shall you eat of it all the days of your life; ¹⁸ Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to you; and you shall eat the plants of the field; ¹⁹ In the sweat of your face shall you eat bread, till you return unto the ground; for out of it were you taken: for dust you are, and unto dust shall you return.

¹ Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.

⁸ You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your countenance. ⁹ For all our days are passed away in your wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.

⁸ All things are full of weariness; man cannot express it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.

²² For what has man for all his labor, and for the striving of his heart, with which he has labored under the sun?

¹⁵ As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing from his labor, which he may carry away in his hand. ¹⁶ And this also is a great evil, that just as he came, so shall he go: and what profit has he who has labored for the wind? ¹⁷ All his days also he eats in darkness, and he has much sorrow and wrath with his sickness.

¹³ There has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above that you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.
