¹⁹ God lays up his iniquity for his children: he recompenses him, and he shall know it.

⁷ If you do well, shall you not be accepted? and if you do not well, sin lies at the door. And you shall be its desire, and you must rule over it.

⁵ You shall not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

³⁴ Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures?

⁴¹ If I whet my glittering sword, and my hand takes hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to my enemies, and will reward them that hate me.

³⁹ And I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah are too hard for me: the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.

²⁴ Then shall you lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.

⁵ He shall reward evil unto my enemies: cut them off in your truth.

⁹ Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow. ¹⁰ Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places. ¹¹ Let the extortioner catch all that he has; and let the strangers spoil his labor. ¹² Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favor his fatherless children. ¹³ Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out. ¹⁴ Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out. ¹⁵ Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth. ¹⁶ Because he remembered not to show mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart. ¹⁷ As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him. ¹⁸ As he clothed himself with cursing as with his garment, so let it come into his body like water, and like oil into his bones. ¹⁹ Let it be unto him as the garment which covers him, and for a belt with which he is girded continually. ²⁰ Let this be the reward of my adversaries from the LORD, and of them that speak evil against my soul. ²¹ But take care of me, O GOD the Lord, for your name's sake: because your mercy is good, deliver me. ²² For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me. ²³ I am gone like the shadow when it declines: I am shaken off like the locust. ²⁴ My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh lacks fatness. ²⁵ I became also a reproach unto them: when they looked upon me they shook their heads. ²⁶ Help me, O LORD my God: O save me according to your mercy: ²⁷ That they may know that this is your hand; that you, LORD, have done it. ²⁸ Let them curse, but you bless: when they arise, let them be ashamed; but let your servant rejoice. ²⁹ Let my adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own confusion, as with a mantle. ³⁰ I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude. ³¹ For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.

²¹ Prepare slaughter for his children because of the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.

⁴ Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. ⁵ But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. ⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

²⁹ In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.

² What mean you, that you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge?

¹⁴ Now, lo, if he begets a son, that sees all his father’s sins which he has done, and considers, and does not the same,

¹⁹ Yet say you, Why? does not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son has done that which is lawful and right, and has kept all my statutes, and has done them, he shall surely live. ²⁰ The soul that sins, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

¹⁸ Then shall you return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serves God and him that serves him not.

¹⁹ Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust does corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: ²⁰ But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust does corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

²⁷ For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

³¹ Therefore you are witnesses unto yourselves, that you are the children of them who killed the prophets. ³² Fill you up then the measure of your fathers. ³³ You serpents, you generation of vipers, how can you escape the judgment of hell? ³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall you scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: ³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom you slew between the temple and the altar.

⁵ But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart treasure up unto yourself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

²¹ For he has made him, who knew no sin, to be sin for us; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

¹⁴ Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:

⁶ Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she has filled, fill to her double.
