¹³ That you turn your spirit against God, and let such words go out of your mouth?

⁴ He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who has hardened himself against him, and has prospered?

³ Is it good unto you that you should oppress, that you should despise the work of your hands, and smile upon the counsel of the wicked?

⁶ The tents of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God brings abundantly.

²⁵ For he stretches out his hand against God, and strengthens himself against the Almighty. ²⁶ He runs stubbornly against him, with his heavily embossed shield. ²⁷ Because he covers his face with his fatness, and makes heavy fat on his waist.

²⁶ If any man among you seems to be religious, and bridles not his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. ³ Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. ⁴ Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven by fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small rudder, wherever the pilot desires. ⁵ Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasts great things. Behold, how great a forest a little fire kindles! ⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.
