¹ And the LORD appeared unto him by the oaks of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; ² And he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, ³ And said, My Lord, if now I have found favor in your sight, pass not away, I pray you, from your servant: ⁴ Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree: ⁵ And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort your hearts; after that you shall pass on: for therefore are you come to your servant. And they said, So do, as you have said. ⁶ And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth. ⁷ And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetched a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hastened to dress it. ⁸ And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat. ⁹ And they said unto him, Where is Sarah your wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent. ¹⁰ And he said, I will certainly return unto you according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah your wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him. ¹¹ Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. ¹² Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I have grown old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? ¹³ And the LORD said unto Abraham, Why did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a certainty bear a child, who am old? ¹⁴ Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. ¹⁵ Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but you did laugh. ¹⁶ And the men rose up from there, and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way. ¹⁷ And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; ¹⁸ Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? ¹⁹ For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he has spoken of him. ²⁰ And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grave; ²¹ I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry, which has come unto me; and if not, I will know. ²² And the men turned their faces from there, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD. ²³ And Abraham drew near, and said, will you also destroy the righteous with the wicked? ²⁴ Suppose there be fifty righteous within the city: will you also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are there? ²⁵ That be far from you to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from you: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? ²⁶ And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes. ²⁷ And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, who am but dust and ashes: ²⁸ Suppose there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: will you destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it. ²⁹ And he spoke unto him yet again, and said, Suppose there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for forty's sake. ³⁰ And he said unto him, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Suppose there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there. ³¹ And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: Suppose there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty's sake. ³² And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Suppose ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake. ³³ And the LORD went his way, as soon as he had left speaking with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place.

⁷ And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto your descendants will I give this land: and there built he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.

¹⁸ Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD.

¹³ And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were allies with Abram.

¹ After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am your shield, and your exceeding great reward.

¹ And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be you perfect. ² And I will make my covenant between me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly. ³ And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,

²² And he quit talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.

² And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell you of:

³ And Jacob said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,

¹ And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD has not appeared unto you.

⁷ In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give you.

² And he said, Men, brethren, and fathers, hearken; The God of glory appeared unto our father Abraham, when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran,

¹⁶ And the men rose up from there, and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way.

²² And the men turned their faces from there, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD.

¹ And there came two angels to Sodom at evening; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;

⁷ And Abraham stood up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, even to the children of Heth.

²⁴ And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

³ And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother. ⁴ And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept. ⁵ And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with you? And he said, The children which God has graciously given your servant. ⁶ Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves. ⁷ And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves: and last came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.

²⁶ And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed themselves to him to the earth.

²⁸ And they answered, Your servant our father is in good health, he is yet alive. And they bowed down their heads, and paid him honor.

¹⁴ And Judah and his brothers came to Joseph's house; for he was yet there: and they fell before him on the ground.

¹³ And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man opposite him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, are you for us, or for our adversaries?

³ And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, {} Behold now, you are barren, and bear not: but you shall conceive, and bear a son.

⁶ Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of God, very awesome: but I asked him not from where he was, neither told he me his name: ⁷ But he said unto me, Behold, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death. ⁸ Then Manoah entreated the LORD, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God whom you did send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born. ⁹ And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again unto the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband was not with her. ¹⁰ And the woman made haste, and ran, and showed her husband, and said unto him, Behold, the man has appeared unto me, that came unto me the other day. ¹¹ And Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said unto him, are you the man that spoke unto the woman? And he said, I am.

¹⁰ Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in your eyes, that you should take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?

¹⁵ And when the sons of the prophets who were from Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah does rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

¹³ Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

² Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

⁹ Practice hospitality one to another without grudging.

⁵ And I have oxen, and donkeys, flocks, and menservants, and maidservants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in your sight.

² And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and you shall rise up early, and go on your way. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.

³² And the man came into the house: and he unloaded his camels, and gave straw and fodder for the camels, and water to wash his feet, and the men's feet that were with him.

²⁴ And the man brought the men into Joseph's house, and gave them water, and they washed their feet; and he gave their donkeys provender.

⁴¹ And she arose, and bowed herself on her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let your handmaid be a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.

⁴⁴ And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, See this woman? I entered into your house, you gave me no water for my feet: but she has washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.

⁵ After that he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded. ⁶ Then came he to Simon Peter: and Peter said unto him, Lord, do you wash my feet? ⁷ Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do you know not now; but you shall know hereafter. ⁸ Peter said unto him, You shall never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash you not, you have no part with me. ⁹ Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. ¹⁰ Jesus said to him, He that is washed needs not except to wash his feet, but is clean completely: and you are clean, but not all. ¹¹ For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, You are not all clean. ¹² So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was seated again, he said unto them, Know you what I have done to you? ¹³ You call me Teacher and Lord: and you say rightly; for so I am. ¹⁴ If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another's feet. ¹⁵ For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.

¹⁰ Well reported of for good works; if she has brought up children, if she has lodged strangers, if she has washed the saints' feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work.

⁸ Behold now, I have two daughters who have not known a man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do you to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

¹⁰ And Jacob said, Nay, I pray you, if now I have found grace in your sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen your face, as though I had seen the face of God, and you were pleased with me.

¹⁸ Depart not from here, I pray you, until I come unto you, and bring forth my present, and set it before you. And he said, I will tarry until you come again.

¹⁵ And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, I pray you, let us detain you, until we shall have made ready a kid for you.

⁵ And it came to pass on the fourth day, when they arose early in the morning, that he rose up to depart: and the young woman's father said unto his son-in-law, Refresh your heart with a morsel of bread, and afterward go your way.

¹⁵ And wine that makes glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengthens man's heart.

¹ For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, does take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stock and the store, the whole supply of bread, and the whole supply of water.

¹¹ Give us this day our daily bread.

⁸ But the noble plans noble things; and by noble things shall he stand.

³³ Another parable spoke he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

³⁸ Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. ³⁹ And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. ⁴⁰ But Martha was cumbered about with much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

¹⁵ And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she prevailed upon us.

¹³ For, brethren, you have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

³ And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.

¹⁵ And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, I pray you, let us detain you, until we shall have made ready a kid for you. ¹⁶ And the angel of the LORD said unto Manoah, Though you detain me, I will not eat of your food: and if you will offer a burnt offering, you must offer it unto the LORD. For Manoah knew not that he was an angel of the LORD.

⁴ That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch yourselves upon your couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;

¹⁴ But cursed be the deceiver, who has in his flock a male, and vows, and sacrifices unto the Lord a corrupt thing: for I am a great King, says the LORD of hosts, and my name is feared among the nations.

⁴ Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them who are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.

²³ And bring here the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

²⁷ And he said unto him, your brother has come; and your father has killed the fatted calf, because he has received him safe and sound.

³⁰ But as soon as this your son came, who has devoured your living with harlots, you have killed for him the fatted calf.

¹⁴ Curds of the cattle, and milk of the flock, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the finest of the wheat; and you did drink the pure blood of the grape.

²⁵ He asked water, and she gave him milk; she brought forth butter in a lordly dish.

⁴⁴ And at that time were some appointed over the chambers for the stores, for the offerings, for the firstfruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them out of the fields of the cities the portions required by the law for the priests and Levites: for Judah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites who ministered.

³⁷ Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he comes shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to eat, and will come forth and serve them.

⁸ And will not rather say unto him, Make ready that I may eat, and gird yourself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward you shall eat and drink?

³⁰ And it came to pass, as he sat to eat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave to them.

⁴³ And he took it, and did eat before them.

² There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

⁴¹ Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will eat with him, and he with me.

⁹ And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel your brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?

⁶⁷ And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.

³³ And Laban went into Jacob's tent, and into Leah's tent, and into the two maidservants' tents; but he found them not. Then went he out of Leah's tent, and entered into Rachel's tent.

⁵ To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

¹⁰ And the angel of the LORD said unto her, I will multiply your descendants exceedingly, that they shall not be numbered for multitude.

¹⁶ And I will bless her, and give you a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall come from her.

¹⁹ And God said, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son indeed; and you shall call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him.

²¹ But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear unto you at this set time in the next year.

¹³ And the LORD said unto Abraham, Why did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a certainty bear a child, who am old? ¹⁴ Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

² For Sarah conceived, and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.

¹⁵ And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, ¹⁶ And said, By myself have I sworn, says the LORD, for because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son:

³ And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, {} Behold now, you are barren, and bear not: but you shall conceive, and bear a son. ⁴ Now therefore beware, I pray you, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: ⁵ For, lo, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come upon his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.

¹⁶ And he said, About this season, next year, you shall embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, you man of God, do not lie unto your handmaid. ¹⁷ And the woman conceived, and bore a son at that time that Elisha had said unto her, according to the appointed time.

¹³ But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zachariah: for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.

⁸ That is, They who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the descendants. ⁹ For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.

²³ But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the free woman was by promise.

²⁸ Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

¹⁷ Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?

²⁴ And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

³⁵ And she said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before you; for the custom of women is upon me. And he searched, but found not the images.

¹⁹ And if a woman has a discharge, and her discharge in her flesh is blood, she shall be put apart seven days: and whosoever touches her shall be unclean until the evening.

⁷ And they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they both were now well advanced in years.

¹⁸ And Zachariah said unto the angel, How shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well advanced in years.

³⁶ And, behold, your cousin Elizabeth, she has also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

¹⁸ Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall your descendants be. ¹⁹ And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body as now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: ²⁰ He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; ²¹ And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

¹¹ Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. ¹² Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the seashore innumerable.

¹⁹ Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from which also he received him in a figure.

¹³ And the LORD said unto Abraham, Why did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a certainty bear a child, who am old?

⁶ And Sarah said, God has made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me. ⁷ And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have nursed children? for I have borne him a son in his old age.

² Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the nations, The LORD has done great things for them.

¹⁸ And Zachariah said unto the angel, How shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well advanced in years. ¹⁹ And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stands in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto you, and to show you these glad tidings. ²⁰ And, behold, you shall be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because you believe not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their time.

³⁴ Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? ³⁵ And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Spirit shall come upon you, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow you: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of you shall be called the Son of God.

³³ Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she respect her husband.

⁶ Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters you are, as long as you do well, and are not afraid with any terror.

²⁵ And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

¹⁰ And he said, I will certainly return unto you according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah your wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.

²³ And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD'S hand shortened? you shall see now whether my word shall come to pass unto you or not.

²¹ You shall not be frightened by them: for the LORD your God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.

³ That then the LORD your God will return you from captivity, and have compassion upon you, and will return and gather you from all the nations, where the LORD your God has scattered you.

⁶ And Jonathan said to the young man that bore his armor, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the LORD will work for us: for there is no restraint on the LORD to save by many or by few.

¹⁶ And he said, About this season, next year, you shall embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, you man of God, do not lie unto your handmaid.

¹ Then Elisha said, Hear you the word of the LORD; Thus says the LORD, Tomorrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria. ² Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, you shall see it with your eyes, but shall not eat of it.

⁵ Behold, God is mighty, and despises no one: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.

² I know that you can do everything, and that no thought can be withheld from you.

¹³ Return, O LORD, how long? and may you have compassion concerning your servants.

¹ The LORD reigns, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, with which he has girded himself: the world also is established, that it cannot be moved.

³ For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

¹⁷ Ah Lord GOD! behold, you have made the heaven and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm, and there is nothing too hard for you:

²⁷ Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

¹⁸ Who is a God like unto you, who pardons iniquity, and passes by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retains not his anger forever, because he delights in mercy.

⁶ Thus says the LORD of hosts; If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, would it also be marvelous in my eyes? says the LORD of hosts.

⁹ And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham as our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

³¹ And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O you of little faith, why did you doubt?

²⁶ But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

²⁷ And Jesus looking upon them said, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

³⁷ For with God nothing shall be impossible.

⁵⁰ But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: only believe, and she shall be made whole.

²¹ And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

²⁰ Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, ²¹ Who shall change our humble body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working by which he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

¹³ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

¹³ Say, I pray you, that you are my sister: that it may be well with me for your sake; and my soul shall live because of you.

¹⁰ But he said unto her, You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

²¹ Shall not God search this out? for he knows the secrets of the heart.

¹⁹ The lip of truth shall be established forever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

¹³ He that covers his sins shall not prosper: but whosoever confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.

⁸ And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned among themselves, he said unto them, Why reason you these things in your hearts?

¹⁷ Then said the girl that kept the door unto Peter, Are not you also one of this man's disciples? He said, I am not.

²⁵ And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore unto him, Are not you also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said, I am not. ²⁶ One of the servants of the high priest, being the kinsman of him whose ear Peter cut off, said, Did not I see you in the garden with him? ²⁷ Peter then denied again: and immediately the cock crowed.

¹⁹ Now we know that whatsoever things the law says, it says to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

²³ And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

⁹ Lie not one to another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his deeds;

⁸ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

³ And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

³⁸ Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spoke, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.

⁵ And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.

²⁴ Whenever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way there by you, if first I am somewhat refreshed with your company.

⁶ Who have borne witness of your love before the church: whom if you send forward on their journey in a godly manner, you shall do well:

²⁴ Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;

²⁷ And when she came to the man of God at the mountain, she caught him by the feet: but Gehazi came near to thrust her away. And the man of God said, Let her alone; for her soul is bitter within her: and the LORD has hid it from me, and has not told me.

⁷ Are not you our God, who did drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel, and gave it to the descendants of Abraham your friend forever?

¹⁴ The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will show them his covenant.

⁷ Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, unless he reveals his secret unto his servants the prophets.

¹⁵ From now on I call you not servants; for the servant knows not what his lord does: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

²³ And the scripture was fulfilled which says, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

² And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing: ³ And I will bless them that bless you, and curse him that curses you: and in you shall all families of the earth be blessed.

¹⁷ That in blessing I will bless you, and in multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies; ¹⁸ And in your descendants shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because you have obeyed my voice.

⁴ And I will make your descendants to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto your descendants all these countries; and in your descendants shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

¹⁷ His name shall endure forever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.

²⁵ You are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed. ²⁶ Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

⁸ And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In you shall all nations be blessed.

¹⁴ That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

²³ And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskins in the same day, as God had said unto him. ²⁴ And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. ²⁵ And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. ²⁶ In the same day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son. ²⁷ And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.

⁹ Only take heed to yourself, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things which your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life: but teach them to your sons, and your sons' sons; ¹⁰ Especially the day that you stood before the LORD your God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.

⁶ And these words, which I command you this day, shall be in your heart: ⁷ And you shall teach them diligently unto your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.

¹⁹ And you shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. ²⁰ And you shall write them upon the door posts of your house, and upon your gates: ²¹ That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD swore unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.

⁴⁶ And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which you shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.

¹⁵ And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

³⁰ Therefore the LORD God of Israel says, I said indeed that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before me forever: but now the LORD says, Be it far from me; for them that honor me I will honor, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed. ³¹ Behold, the days come, that I will cut off your arm, and the arm of your father's house, that there shall not be an old man in your house.

²⁰ And what can David say more unto you? for you, Lord GOD, know your servant.

⁹ And you, Solomon my son, know you the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts: if you seek him, he will be found of you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.

⁵ And it was so, when the days of their feasting were finished, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually. ⁶ For the LORD knows the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

⁴ The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids test, the children of men.

¹⁵ The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.

² I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: ³ Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. ⁴ We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he has done. ⁵ For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: ⁶ That the generation to come might know them, even the children who should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: ⁷ That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: ⁸ And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God. ⁹ The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.

²⁰ My son, keep your father's commandment, and forsake not the law of your mother: ²¹ Bind them continually upon your heart, and tie them about your neck. ²² When you go, it shall lead you; when you sleep, it shall keep you; and when you awake, it shall talk with you.

⁶ Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

¹⁹ The living, the living, he shall praise you, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known your truth.

² You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.

¹⁴ I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

¹⁷ He said unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, do you love me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Do you love me? And he said unto him, Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you. Jesus said unto him, Feed my sheep.

²³ For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, ²⁴ Saying, Fear not, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God has given you all them that sail with you.

³¹ Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, you cannot be saved.

⁴ And, you fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

⁴ One that rules well his own house, having his children in subjection with all respect; ⁵ (For if a man knows not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

¹² Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

⁵ When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice; and I am persuaded in you also.

¹⁹ Nevertheless the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal, The Lord knows them that are his. And, Let every one that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

¹⁵ And that from a child you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

¹⁰ And he said, What have you done? the voice of your brother's blood cries unto me from the ground.

¹³ But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.

¹³ For we will destroy this place, because the cry against them has become great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD has sent us to destroy it.

⁹ The look on their countenance does witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have brought evil unto themselves.

⁷ For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for justice, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.

⁷ O LORD, though our iniquities testify against us, do it for your name’s sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against you.

⁴⁹ Behold, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom, pride, fullness of food, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. ⁵⁰ And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw fit.

⁴ Behold, the hire of the laborers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, cries: and the cries of them who have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of hosts.

⁵ And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men built.

⁷ Come, let us go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

⁸ And I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good and large land, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

⁵ For the LORD had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, you are a stiff-necked people: I will come up into the midst of you in a moment, and consume you: therefore now put off your ornaments from you, that I may know what to do unto you.

² And you shall remember all the way which the LORD your God led you these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you, and to test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or not.

³ You shall not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God is testing you, to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

²² The LORD God of gods, the LORD God of gods, he knows, and Israel he shall know; if it be in rebellion, or if in transgression against the LORD, (save us not this day,)

²² There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

⁸ You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your countenance.

¹ The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, and with the point of a diamond: it is engraved upon the tablet of their heart, and upon the horns of your altars;

¹⁰ I the LORD search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

³ For, behold, the LORD comes forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.

¹² And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and punish the men that are settled in their complacency: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil.

¹⁵ And he said unto them, You are they who justify yourselves before men; but God knows your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

³⁸ For I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me.

¹¹ Why? because I love you not? God knows.

¹⁶ For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

¹³ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

¹ And the LORD appeared unto him by the oaks of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; ² And he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,

²³ Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.

¹ Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not turn toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.

²⁰ Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before you to speak good for them, and to turn away your wrath from them.

³⁰ And I sought for a man among them, that should build up the wall, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

⁵⁵ But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

¹ I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

²⁵ That be far from you to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from you: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

⁴ But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, will you slay also a righteous nation?

²² And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and will you be angry with all the congregation?

¹⁷ And David spoke unto the LORD when he saw the angel that struck the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let your hand, I pray you, be against me, and against my father’s house.

³ Does God pervert judgment? or does the Almighty pervert justice?

¹⁷ Shall even he that hates right govern? and will you condemn him that is most just?

⁴ The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids test, the children of men. ⁵ The LORD tests the righteous: but the wicked and him that loves violence his soul hates. ⁶ Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and a horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. ⁷ For the righteous LORD loves righteousness; his countenance does behold the upright.

²⁸ But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all your works.

²¹ And their nobles shall be from themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that devoted his heart to approach unto me? says the LORD.

⁵ But if our unrighteousness commends the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who takes vengeance? (I speak as a man) ⁶ God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?

²² Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

¹⁷ Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth for three years and six months.

³² And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Suppose ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake.

⁹ Unless the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.

¹ Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in its broad places, if you can find a man, if there is any that executes justice, that seeks the truth; and I will pardon it.

¹³ Enter in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be who go in there: ¹⁴ Because narrow is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads unto life, and few there be that find it.

²⁴ Saying, Fear not, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God has given you all them that sail with you.

⁴ He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are justice: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

²⁰ Behold, God will not cast away a blameless man, neither will he help the evil doers:

²² This is one thing, therefore I said it, He destroys the blameless and the wicked. ²³ If the scourge slays suddenly, he will laugh at the plight of the innocent.

¹⁷ Shall even he that hates right govern? and will you condemn him that is most just? ¹⁸ Is it fit to say to a king, You are wicked? and to princes, You are ungodly? ¹⁹ How much less to him that regards not the persons of princes, nor regards the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.

¹¹ So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God who judges in the earth.

² Lift up yourself, you judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.

⁹ Before the LORD; for he comes to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.

¹⁵ All things have I seen in the days of my vanity: there is a just man that perishes in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongs his life in his wickedness.

¹² Though a sinner does evil a hundred times, and his days are prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, who fear before him: ¹³ But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he fears not before God.

¹⁰ Say you to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds. ¹¹ Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be done to him.

¹ The righteous perishes, and no man lays it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come. ² He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.

¹ Righteous are you, O LORD, when I plead with you: yet let me talk with you of your judgments: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? why are all they happy that deal very treacherously?

¹⁸ Then shall you return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serves God and him that serves him not.

²² For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment unto the Son: ²³ That all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honors not the Son honors not the Father who has sent him. ²⁴ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hears my word, and believes on him that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. ²⁵ Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. ²⁶ For as the Father has life in himself; so has he given to the Son to have life in himself; ²⁷ And has given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

¹⁰ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that everyone may be recompensed for the things done in his body, according to what he has done, whether it be good or bad.

¹³ But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return, and shall be laid waste: as a terebinth tree, and as an oak, whose stump remains, when they are cut down: so the holy seed shall be its stump.

²² For though your people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the destruction decreed shall overflow with righteousness.

²⁴ In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land:

⁸ Thus says the LORD, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one says, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants' sakes, that I may not destroy them all.

²² And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

⁷ And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

¹⁹ In the sweat of your face shall you eat bread, till you return unto the ground; for out of it were you taken: for dust you are, and unto dust shall you return.

³⁰ And he said unto him, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Suppose there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there. ³¹ And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: Suppose there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty's sake. ³² And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Suppose ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake.

⁶ And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to you, my God: for our iniquities have risen higher than our head, and our trespass has grown up unto the heavens.

¹⁹ How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed before the moth?

¹⁹ He has cast me into the mire, and I am become like dust and ashes.

⁶ Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes. ⁷ And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against you, and against your two friends: for you have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job has. ⁸ Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that you have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.

⁴ What is man, that you are mindful of him? and the son of man, that you visit him?

³ LORD, what is man, that you take knowledge of him! or the son of man, that you make account of him!

⁷ Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

⁵ Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

⁸ But now, O LORD, you are our father; we are the clay, and you our potter; and we all are the work of your hand.

⁸ When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

¹ And he spoke a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

⁴⁷ The first man is of the earth, made of dust: the second man is the Lord from heaven. ⁴⁸ As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

¹ For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. ² For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:

²⁶ And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.

²⁹ And he spoke unto him yet again, and said, Suppose there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for forty's sake.

¹⁷ And now, I beseech you, let the power of my LORD be great, according as you have spoken, saying, ¹⁸ The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation. ¹⁹ Pardon, I beseech you, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of your mercy, and as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.

³² So they girded sackcloth on their loins, and put ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said, Your servant Ben-hadad says, I pray you, let me live. And he said, Is he yet alive? he is my brother. ³³ Now the men did diligently observe whether any sign of mercy would come from him, and did quickly catch it: and they said, Your brother Ben-hadad. Then he said, Go, bring him. Then Ben-hadad came forth to him; and he caused him to come up into the chariot.

³ Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat! ⁴ I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.

¹⁸ Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thus with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

¹⁶ Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

¹⁸ Then Judah came near unto him, and said, Oh my lord, let your servant, I pray you, speak a word in my lord's ears, and let not your anger burn against your servant: for you are even as Pharaoh.

³⁹ And Gideon said unto God, Let not your anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me test, I pray you, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew.

¹¹ All the king's servants, and the people of the king's provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden scepter, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days. ¹² And they told to Mordecai Esther's words. ¹³ Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not to yourself that you shall escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews. ¹⁴ For if you altogether hold your peace at this time, then shall relief and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but you and your father's house shall be destroyed: and who knows whether you are come to the kingdom for such a time as this? ¹⁵ Then Esther told them to return Mordecai this answer, ¹⁶ Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

⁴ Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer you? I will lay my hand upon my mouth.

¹² When he avenges blood, he remembers them: he forgets not the cry of the humble.

¹⁷ LORD, you have heard the desire of the humble: you will prepare their heart, you will cause your ear to hear:

⁷ God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.

⁸ For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. ⁹ For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

²⁸ Therefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: ²⁹ For our God is a consuming fire.

²⁷ And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, who am but dust and ashes:

⁷ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

¹¹ If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

⁸ I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give to him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needs.

²⁰ By a new and living way, which he has consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; ²¹ And having a high priest over the house of God; ²² Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

³⁰ And he said unto him, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Suppose there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there.

⁹ And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiff-necked people: ¹⁰ Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may grow hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of you a great nation.

¹⁴ And the LORD turned from the evil which he thought to do unto his people.

¹³ Now therefore, I pray you, if I have found grace in your sight, show me now your way, that I may know you, that I may find grace in your sight: and consider that this nation is your people. ¹⁴ And he said, My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.

⁶ And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, ⁷ Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

⁹ And he said, If now I have found grace in your sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray you, go among us; for it is a stiff-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance. ¹⁰ And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all your people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among whom you are shall see the work of the LORD: for it is an awesome thing that I will do with you.

¹¹ And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people despise me? and how long will it be before they believe me, with all the signs which I have shown among them? ¹² I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of you a greater nation and mightier than they. ¹³ And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for you brought up this people in your might from among them;) ¹⁴ And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that you LORD are among this people, that you LORD are seen face to face, and that your cloud stands over them, and that you go before them, by daytime in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night. ¹⁵ Now if you shall kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of you will speak, saying, ¹⁶ Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he swore to give unto them, therefore he has slain them in the wilderness. ¹⁷ And now, I beseech you, let the power of my LORD be great, according as you have spoken, saying, ¹⁸ The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation. ¹⁹ Pardon, I beseech you, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of your mercy, and as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now. ²⁰ And the LORD said, I have pardoned according to your word:

²³ If there be a messenger with him, a mediator, one of a thousand, to show unto man his uprightness:

⁵ For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive; and abundant in mercy unto all them that call upon you.

⁸ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

⁶ I the LORD have called you in righteousness, and will hold your hand, and will keep you, and give you for a covenant to the people, for a light to the Gentiles; ⁷ To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

¹⁵ And the prayer of faith shall deliver the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. ¹⁶ Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. ¹⁷ Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth for three years and six months.

¹⁵ And if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we desired of him. ¹⁶ If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

⁵⁵ And early in the morning Laban rose up, and kissed his sons and his daughters, and blessed them: and Laban departed, and returned unto his place.

²⁶ And he said, Let me go, for the day breaks. And he said, I will not let you go, except you bless me.
