⁴ These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,

¹ This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;

⁹ These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

¹ And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth.

⁷ And you, be you fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.

¹⁹ These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth peopled.

¹⁹ And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those of them that escape unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the coastlands afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.

⁷ Fine linen with embroidered work from Egypt was that which you spread forth to be your sail; blue and purple from the coasts of Elishah was that which covered you.

¹² Tarshish was your merchant because of the multitude of all kinds of riches; with silver, iron, tin, and lead, they traded in your wares. ¹³ Javan, Tubal, and Meshech, they were your merchants: they traded the persons of men and vessels of bronze in your market. ¹⁴ They of the house of Togarmah traded in your wares with horses and horsemen and mules.

¹⁹ Dedan also and Javan going to and fro traded in your wares: wrought iron, cassia, and calamus, were in your market.

² Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him,

⁶ Gomer, and all his hordes; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his hordes: and many people with you.

¹⁵ And you shall come from your place out of the north parts, you, and many people with you, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army:

¹ Therefore, you son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:

⁸ And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

²⁷ Set you up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up like the bristling locusts.

¹⁴ They of the house of Togarmah traded in your wares with horses and horsemen and mules.

²⁴ And ships shall come from the coast of Kittim, and shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber, and he also shall perish forever.

¹ The burden concerning Tyre. Wail, you ships of Tarshish; for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in: from the land of Kittim it is revealed to them.

¹² And he said, You shall no more rejoice, O you oppressed virgin, daughter of Sidon: arise, pass over to Kittim; there also shall you have no rest.

¹² Tarshish was your merchant because of the multitude of all kinds of riches; with silver, iron, tin, and lead, they traded in your wares.

²⁵ The ships of Tarshish were carriers for you in your market: and you were filled, and made very glorious in the midst of the seas.

³⁰ For the ships of Kittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return, and rage against the holy covenant: so shall he do; he shall even return, and show favor toward them that forsake the holy covenant.

²⁰ These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.

²⁵ And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan.

¹ And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. ² And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. ³ And they said one to another, Come, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and bitumen had they for mortar. ⁴ And they said, Come, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. ⁵ And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men built. ⁶ And the LORD said, Behold, the people are one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. ⁷ Come, let us go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. ⁸ So the LORD scattered them abroad from there upon the face of all the earth: and they left off building the city. ⁹ Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confuse the language of all the earth: and from there did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

¹⁰ The kings of Tarshish and of the coasts shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.

¹⁵ Therefore glorify the LORD in the east, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the coastlands of the sea.

¹⁵ Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he takes up the isles as fine dust.

⁵ The coastlands saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.

⁴ He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he has established justice in the earth: and the coastlands shall wait for his law.

¹⁰ Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the ends of the earth, you that go down to the sea, and all that is in it; the coastlands, and its inhabitants.

¹ Listen, O coastlands, unto me; and hearken, you people, from afar; The LORD has called me from the womb; from the body of my mother has he made mention of my name.

⁵ My righteousness is near; my salvation has gone forth, and my arms shall judge the people; the coastlands shall wait upon me, and on my arm shall they trust.

¹⁸ According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, retribution to his enemies; to the coastlands he will fully repay.

⁹ Surely the coastlands shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring your sons from afar, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD your God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he has glorified you.

¹⁰ For pass over the coasts of Chittim, and see; and send unto Kedar, and consider diligently, and see if there be such a thing.

²² And all the kings of Tyre, and all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the coastlands which are beyond the sea,

¹¹ The LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the coasts of the nations.

²² And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren outside.

⁸ The sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, Put, and Canaan. ⁹ And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabta, and Raamah, and Sabteca. ⁴⁰ And they found rich and good pasture, and the land was broad, and quiet, and peaceable; for they of Ham had dwelt there formerly.

⁵¹ And struck down all the firstborn in Egypt; the chief of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham:

²³ Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

²⁷ They showed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.

²² Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and awesome things by the Red sea.

¹¹ And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, who shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the coastlands of the sea.

⁹ Come up, you horses; and rage, you chariots; and let the mighty men come forth; the Ethiopians and the Libyans, that handle the shield; and the Lydians, that handle and bend the bow.

¹⁰ They of Persia and of Lud and of Phut were in your army, your men of war: they hung the shield and helmet in you; they set forth your splendor.

¹¹ The name of the first is Pison: that is it which encompasses the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;

¹ And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to test him with hard questions.

¹³ The burden concerning Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall you lodge, O you traveling companies of Dedanites.

¹⁵ The men of Dedan were your merchants; many coastlands were the markets of your hand: they brought you for a present tusks of ivory and ebony.

²² The merchants of Sheba and Raamah, they were your merchants: they traded in your fairs with the best of all spices, and with all precious stones, and gold.

⁶ And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod at its entrances: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he comes into our land, and when he treads within our borders.

⁴ There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bore children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

¹¹ The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

¹³ But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.

²⁷ And the boys grew: and Esau was a skilful hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a quiet man, dwelling in tents.

³⁰ And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had finished blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.

²² And in the time of his distress did he trespass yet more against the LORD: this is that king Ahaz.

⁷ Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.

¹⁶ Behold, I will send for many fishermen, says the LORD, and they shall catch them; and afterward will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.

¹⁸ And say, Thus says the Lord GOD; Woe to the women that sew charms upon all wrists, and make veils for the heads, of every length, to hunt souls! Will you hunt the souls of my people, and will you save the souls alive that belong to you?

² The godly man has perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.

² And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.

⁹ Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confuse the language of all the earth: and from there did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

¹ And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim;

⁹ Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus?

¹ At that time Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered.

²¹ Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, says the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded you.

² And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.

² Pass you unto Calneh, and see; and from there go to Hamath the great: then go down to Gath of the Philistines: are they better than these kingdoms? or their borders greater than your borders?

¹⁰ Be in pain, and labor to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: for now shall you go forth out of the city, and you shall dwell in the field, and you shall go even to Babylon; there shall you be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem you from the hand of your enemies.

¹¹ And he said unto me, To build it a house in the land of Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon its own base.

²² Nevertheless the Kenite shall be wasted, until Asshur shall carry you away captive.

³⁶ So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.

² Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the heads of the fathers’ houses, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as you do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esar-haddon king of Assyria, who brought us up here.

⁸ Assyria also is joined with them: they have helped the children of Lot. Selah.

³⁷ So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.

²³ Haran, and Canneh, and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur, and Chilmad, were your merchants.

²² Asshur is there and all her company: their graves are about her: all of them slain, fallen by the sword:

³ Assyria shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, you are our gods: for in you the fatherless finds mercy.

² Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness has come up before me.

¹ And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying, ² Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid you. ³ So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city of three days' journey around it. ⁴ And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. ⁵ So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. ⁶ For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. ⁷ And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything: let them not feed, nor drink water: ⁸ But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. ⁹ Who can tell if God will turn and relent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? ¹⁰ And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented of the disaster, that he had said that he would bring upon them; and he did it not.

⁸ Though Nineveh was of old like a pool of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand, shall they cry; but none shall look back.

⁷ And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon you shall flee from you, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? where shall I seek comforters for you?

¹³ And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like a wilderness.

¹¹ And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim, ¹² And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (of whom came the Philistines,) and Caphtorim.

⁵ Ethiopia, and Put, and Lud, and all the mixed people, and Cub, and the men of the land that are in league, shall fall with them by the sword.

²³ And the Avvim who dwelt in villages as far as Gaza, the Caphtorim, who came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)

⁴ Because of the day that comes to plunder all the Philistines, and to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper that remains: for the LORD will plunder the Philistines, the remnant of the country of Caphtor.

⁷ Are you not as children of the Ethiopians unto me, O children of Israel? says the LORD. Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt? and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir?

¹³ Zebulun shall dwell at the shore of the sea; and he shall be for a haven of ships; and his border shall be unto Sidon.

⁸ And I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good and large land, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

¹¹ Observe that which I command you this day: behold, I drive out before you the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

² Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, When you come into the land of Canaan; (this is the land that shall fall unto you for an inheritance, even the land of Canaan to the extent of its boundaries:) ³ Then your south side shall be from the wilderness of Zin along by the border of Edom, and your south border shall be to the edge of the salt sea on the east: ⁴ And your border shall turn from the south to the ascent of Akrabbim, and pass on to Zin: and the going forth thereof shall be from the south to Kadeshbarnea, and shall go on to Hazaraddar, and pass on to Azmon: ⁵ And the border shall turn from Azmon unto the river of Egypt, and the end of it shall be at the sea. ⁶ And as for the western border, you shall even have the Great Sea for a border: this shall be your west border. ⁷ And this shall be your north border: from the Great Sea you shall mark out for you mount Hor: ⁸ From mount Hor you shall mark out your border unto the entrance of Hamath; and the end of the border shall be at Zedad: ⁹ And the border shall go on to Ziphron, and the end of it shall be at Hazarenan: this shall be your north border. ¹⁰ And you shall mark out your east border from Hazarenan to Shepham: ¹¹ And the border shall go down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east side of Ain; and the border shall descend, and shall reach unto the eastern side of the Sea of Chinnereth: ¹² And the border shall go down to the Jordan, and the end of it shall be at the Salt Sea: this shall be your land with boundaries all around. ¹³ And Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying, This is the land which you shall inherit by lot, which the LORD commanded to give unto the nine tribes, and to the half tribe: ¹⁴ For the tribe of the children of Reuben according to the house of their fathers, and the tribe of the children of Gad according to the house of their fathers, have received their inheritance; and the half tribe of Manasseh has received its inheritance: ¹⁵ The two tribes and the half tribe have received their inheritance on this side of Jordan near Jericho eastward, toward the sun rising.

⁸ And the LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel, who struck them, and chased them unto great Sidon, and unto Misrephothmaim, and unto the valley of Mizpah eastward; and they struck them, until they left none remaining.

³ And David sent and inquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bath-sheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?

¹³ And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth,

⁴ Be ashamed, O Sidon: for the sea has spoken, even the strength of the sea, saying, I travail not, nor bring forth children, neither do I nourish up young men, nor bring up virgins.

²¹ And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem until this day.

⁸ The inhabitants of Sidon and Arvad were your mariners: your wise men, O Tyre, that were in you, were your pilots.

¹⁶ Hamath, Berothah, Sibraim, which is between the border of Damascus and the border of Hamath; Hazar-hatticon, which is on the border of Hauran. ¹⁷ And the border from the sea shall be to Hazar-enan, the border of Damascus, and the north northward, and the border of Hamath. And this is the north side.

² And Hamath also, which borders on it; and against Tyre, and Sidon, though they are very wise.

¹⁰ And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as you came unto Zoar. ¹¹ Then Lot chose all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other. ¹² Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom. ¹³ But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly. ¹⁴ And the LORD said unto Abram, after Lot was separated from him, Lift up now your eyes, and look from the place where you are northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: ¹⁵ For all the land which you see, to you will I give it, and to your descendants forever. ¹⁶ And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall your descendants also be numbered. ¹⁷ Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto you.

² That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.

²⁰ And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grave;

²⁴ Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; ²⁵ And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

¹ And Abraham journeyed from there toward the Negeb, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.

¹ And there was a famine in the land, besides the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.

⁸ When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.

⁷ And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel struck on this side of Jordan on the west, from Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon even unto the mount Halak, that rises up toward Seir; which Joshua gave unto the tribes of Israel for a possession according to their divisions; ⁸ In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the lowland, and in the slopes, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites:

¹ And these are the areas which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for inheritance to them. ² By lot was their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half tribe. ³ For Moses had given the inheritance of two tribes and a half tribe on the other side of Jordan: but unto the Levites he gave no inheritance among them. ⁴ For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no portion unto the Levites in the land, except cities to dwell in, with their pasture lands for their cattle and for their possessions. ⁵ As the LORD commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did, and they divided the land. ⁶ Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said unto him, You know the thing that the LORD said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and you in Kadeshbarnea. ⁷ Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadeshbarnea to spy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in my heart. ⁸ Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God. ⁹ And Moses swore on that day, saying, Surely the land on which your feet have trodden shall be your inheritance, and your children's forever, because you have wholly followed the LORD my God. ¹⁰ And now, behold, the LORD has kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spoke this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old. ¹¹ Even yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in. ¹² Now therefore give me this mountain, of which the LORD spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said. ¹³ And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance. ¹⁴ Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite unto this day, because he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel. ¹⁵ And the name of Hebron before was Kiriatharba; this Arba was a great man among the Anakim. And the land had rest from war.

¹ Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there a harlot, and went in unto her.

²⁰ And all the foreign people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod,

⁸ How shall I give you up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver you, Israel? how shall I make you as Admah? how shall I set you as Zeboiim? my heart is turned within me, my compassion is stirred.

¹⁰ These are the generations of Shem: Shem was a hundred years old, and begat Arpachshad two years after the flood: ¹¹ And Shem lived after he begat Arpachshad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters. ¹² And Arpachshad lived five and thirty years, and begat Shelah: ¹³ And Arpachshad lived after he begat Shelah four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters. ¹⁴ And Shelah lived thirty years, and begat Eber: ¹⁵ And Shelah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters. ¹⁶ And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg: ¹⁷ And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters. ¹⁸ And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu: ¹⁹ And Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters. ²⁰ And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug: ²¹ And Reu lived after he begat Serug two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters. ²² And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor: ²³ And Serug lived after he begat Nahor two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters. ²⁴ And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah: ²⁵ And Nahor lived after he begat Terah a hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters. ²⁶ And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

²⁶ And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

¹ And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim; ² That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar. ³ All these were joined together in the Valley of Siddim, which is the salt sea. ⁴ Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled. ⁵ And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim, and the Zuzim in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh-kiriathaim, ⁶ And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto Elparan, which is by the wilderness. ⁷ And they returned, and came to Enmishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezontamar. ⁸ And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they joined battle with them in the Valley of Siddim; ⁹ With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of Goiim, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five.

⁷ And he took up his oracle, and said, Balak the king of Moab has brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse for me Jacob, and come, denounce Israel.

¹⁹ And Pul the king of Assyria came against the land: and Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver, that his hand might be with him to confirm the kingdom in his hand.

¹⁷ The sons of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arpachshad, and Lud, and Aram, and Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Meshech. ¹⁸ And Arpachshad begat Shelah, and Shelah begat Eber. ¹⁹ And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg; because in his days the earth was divided: and his brother’s name was Joktan. ²⁰ And Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah, ²¹ Hadoram also, and Uzal, and Diklah, ²² And Ebal, and Abimael, and Sheba, ²³ And Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab. All these were the sons of Joktan. ²⁴ Shem, Arpachshad, Shelah, ²⁵ Eber, Peleg, Reu, ²⁶ Serug, Nahor, Terah, ²⁷ Abram; the same is Abraham.

¹⁷ While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone am escaped to tell you.

² A distressing vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer deals treacherously, and the plunderer plunders. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all its sighing have I made to cease.

⁶ And Elam bore the quiver with chariots of men and horsemen, and Kir uncovered the shield.

²⁵ And all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes,

³⁴ The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying, ³⁵ Thus says the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might. ³⁶ And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation where the outcasts of Elam shall not come. ³⁷ For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before those that seek their life: and I will bring disaster upon them, even my fierce anger, says the LORD; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them: ³⁸ And I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from there the king and the princes, says the LORD. ³⁹ But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of Elam, says the LORD.

⁹ Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

¹ There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one that feared God, and turned away from evil.

¹² And Arpachshad lived five and thirty years, and begat Shelah: ¹³ And Arpachshad lived after he begat Shelah four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters. ¹⁴ And Shelah lived thirty years, and begat Eber: ¹⁵ And Shelah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.

¹⁶ And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg: ¹⁷ And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters. ¹⁸ And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu: ¹⁹ And Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters.

¹⁹ And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg; because in his days the earth was divided: and his brother’s name was Joktan.

³⁵ Who was the son of Serug, who was the son of Reu, who was the son of Peleg, who was the son of Eber, who was the son of Shelah, ³⁶ Who was the son of Cainan, who was the son of Arphaxad, who was the son of Shem, who was the son of Noah, who was the son of Lamech,

²⁶ And has made of one blood all nations of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

²⁰ And Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah, ²¹ Hadoram also, and Uzal, and Diklah, ²² And Ebal, and Abimael, and Sheba, ²³ And Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab. ³ And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.

¹⁸ And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is beside Egypt, as you go toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.

⁷ And Saul struck down the Amalekites from Havilah until you come to Shur, that is east of Egypt.

²⁸ And they came to Ophir, and brought from there gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon.

⁴⁸ Jehoshaphat made ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold: but they went not; for the ships were broken at Ezion-geber.

¹⁸ Ishmerai also, and Izliah, and Jobab, the sons of Elpaal;

¹⁰ And of the priests; Jedaiah, and Jehoiarib, and Jachin,

¹³ And their brethren, heads of their fathers’ houses, a thousand and seven hundred and threescore; very able men for the work of the service of the house of God.

²⁴ Then shall you lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.

¹⁶ It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.

⁹ Kings' daughters were among your honorable women: at your right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir.

¹² I will make a man more rare than fine gold; even a man more than the golden wedge of Ophir.

⁵ By these were the coastlands of the nations divided in their lands; everyone after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.

²⁹ And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD has cursed. ³⁰ And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters: ³¹ And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died.

¹ Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.

³¹ These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.
