Job 14:7-9

7 For there is hope for a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender shoots thereof will not cease. 8 Though its root grows old in the earth, and its stump dies in the ground; 9 Yet at the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth branches like a plant.

Ezekiel 29:14-15

14 And I will bring again the captives of Egypt, and will cause them to return into the land of Pathros, into the land of their habitation; and they shall be there a lowly kingdom. 15 It shall be the lowest of the kingdoms; neither shall it exalt itself any more above the nations: for I will diminish them, that they shall no more rule over the nations.

Daniel 4:25-27

25 That they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make you eat grass like oxen, and they shall wet you with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over you, till you know that the most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will. 26 And since they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; your kingdom shall be sure unto you, after you shall have known that the heavens do rule. 27 Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto you, and break off your sins by practicing righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of your tranquility.
