¹² that is, that I with you may be comforted in you, each of us by the other's faith, both yours and mine.

²³ who, when he was come, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and he exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord:

²⁴ whensoever I go unto Spain, I will come to you; for I hope to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first in some measure I shall have been satisfied with your company.

³² that I may come unto you in joy through the will of God, and together with you find rest.

¹ But I determined this for myself, that I would not come again to you with sorrow. ² For if I make you sorry, who then is he that maketh me glad but he that is made sorry by me? ³ And I wrote unto you this very thing, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice, having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.

⁴ Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying on your behalf; I am filled with comfort, I overflow with joy in all our affliction. ⁵ For even when we were come into Macedonia our flesh had no relief, but we were afflicted on every side, without were fightings, within were fears. ⁶ Nevertheless he that comforteth the lowly, even God, comforted us by the coming of Titus, ⁷ and not by his coming only, but also by the comfort wherewith he was comforted in you, while he told us your longing, your mourning, your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced yet more.

¹³ Therefore we have been comforted; And in your comfort we joyed the more exceedingly for the joy of Titus, because his spirit hath been refreshed by you all.

⁵ one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

¹⁷ But we, brethren, being bereaved of you for a short season, in presence not in heart, endeavored the more exceedingly to see your face with great desire: ¹⁸ wherefore we would fain have come unto you, I Paul once and again, and Satan hindered us. ¹⁹ For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of glorying? Are not even ye, before our Lord Jesus at his coming? ²⁰ For ye are our glory and our joy.

⁷ for this cause, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our distress and affliction through your faith: ⁸ for now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord. ⁹ For what thanksgiving can we render again unto God for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God, ¹⁰ night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face, and may perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

⁴ longing to see thee, remembering thy tears, that I may be filled with joy,

⁴ to Titus, my true child after a common faith; Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Saviour.

¹ Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and the Saviour Jesus Christ:

⁴ I rejoice greatly that I have found certain of thy children walking in truth, even as we received commandment from the Father.

³ For I rejoiced greatly, when brethren came and bare witness unto thy truth, even as thou walkest in truth. ⁴ Greater joy have I none than this, to hear of my children walking in truth.

³ Beloved, while I was giving all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, I was constrained to write unto you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered unto the saints.
