⁵ Let your forbearance be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

³⁹ but I say unto you, resist not him that is evil; but whosoever shall smite thee on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. ⁴⁰ And if any man would go to law with thee, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. ⁴¹ And whosoever shall compel thee to go one mile, go with him two. ⁴² Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

²⁵ Therefore I say unto you, be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat, and what ye shall drink, nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than the food, and the body than the raiment?

³⁴ Be not therefore anxious for the morrow; for the morrow will be anxious for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

⁴⁸ But if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth to come, ⁴⁹ and shall begin to beat his fellow-servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken, ⁵⁰ the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he expecteth not, and in an hour when he knoweth not,

²⁹ To him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other, and from him that taketh away thy cloak withhold not thy coat also. ³⁰ Give to every one that asketh thee, and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again. ³¹ And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. ³² And if ye love them that love you, what thank have ye? for even sinners love those that love them. ³³ And if ye do good to them that do good to you, what thank have ye? for even sinners do the same. ³⁴ And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? even sinners lend to sinners, to receive again as much. ³⁵ But love your enemies, and do them good, and lend, never despairing, and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be sons of the Most High; for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil.

²² And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat, nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. ²³ For the life is more than the food, and the body than the raiment. ²⁴ Consider the ravens, that they sow not, neither reap, which have no store-chamber nor barn, and God feedeth them; of how much more value are ye than the birds! ²⁵ And which of you by being anxious can add a cubit unto the measure of his life? ²⁶ If then ye are not able to do even that which is least, why are ye anxious concerning the rest? ²⁷ Consider the lilies, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin, yet I say unto you, Even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. ²⁸ But if God doth so clothe the grass in the field, which to-day is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, how much more shall he clothe you, O ye of little faith? ²⁹ And seek not ye what ye shall eat, and what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. ³⁰ For all these things do the nations of the world seek after; but your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

³⁴ But take heed to yourselves, lest haply your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day come on you suddenly as a snare;

⁷ Nay, already it is altogether a defect in you, that ye have lawsuits one with another. Why not rather take wrong? why not rather be defrauded?

²⁹ But this I say, brethren, the time is shortened, that henceforth both those that have wives may be as though they had none, ³⁰ and those that weep, as though they wept not, and those that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not, and those that buy, as though they possessed not, ³¹ and those that use the world, as not using it to the full; for the fashion of this world passeth away.

¹³ Wherefore, if meat causeth my brother to stumble, I will eat no flesh for evermore, that I cause not my brother to stumble.

²⁵ And every man that striveth in the games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.

² For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. ³ When they are saying, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child, and they shall in no wise escape. ⁴ But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief:

² to the end that ye be not quickly shaken from your mind, nor yet be troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by epistle as from us, as that the day of Christ is just at hand,

² to speak evil of no man, not to be contentious, to be gentle, showing all meekness toward all men.

²⁵ not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more, as ye see the day drawing nigh.

³⁷ For yet a very little while, He that cometh shall come, and shall not tarry.

⁵ Be ye free from the love of money, content with such things as ye have; for himself hath said, I will in no wise fail thee, neither will I in any wise forsake thee. ⁶ So that with good courage we say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear; What shall man do unto me?

⁸ Be ye also patient, establish your hearts; for the coming of the Lord is at hand. ⁹ Murmur not, brethren, one against another, that ye be not judged; behold, the judge standeth before the doors.

¹¹ searching what time or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did point unto, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that should follow them.

⁷ But the end of all things is at hand; be ye therefore of sound mind, and be sober in your prayers:

⁸ But forget not this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. ⁹ The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering to us-ward, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. ¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are therein shall be burned up. ¹¹ Seeing then that these things are thus all to be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy living and godliness, ¹² looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, by reason of which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? ¹³ But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. ¹⁴ Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for these things, give diligence that ye may be found in peace, without spot and blameless in his sight.

⁷ And behold, I come quickly. Blessed is he that keepeth the words of the prophecy of this book.

²⁰ He who testifieth these things saith, Yea; I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
